Chapter 157: 157 - Going Underground
The scene Shiori imagined was very beautiful, but unfortunately, reality was not an imagination. Not to mention the two of them being pressed against the glass by centrifugal force, Nexus and Lailah did not even move a little, as if they were traveling on an extremely flat straight road.
"Damn it, I really am an idiot. How could I forget?"
After being hit once again, Shiori finally remembered the abnormal things Nexus had done before.
Driving a car at high speed while looking around like this was not safe, but anyway she was not a normal person, so this way of doing things was still perfectly fine.
"Mortal, did you plant your brain?"
Just like the system, Nexus curled his lips into an extremely annoying smile and asked a question that immediately made the angry person's face turn bright red.
"You bastard! I refuse to believe I can't do anything to you."
Shiori gritted her teeth and increased the speed to the maximum possible. She no longer cared about any kind of logic now. Shiori only knew that she was pissed off, so she drove at full speed to vent.
After Shiori's exhausting drive, they finally arrived at the coffee shop. It was just that there was something a little off about this coffee shop.
The shop was quite large, but it looked like a coffee shop that had just been bombed. The sign was broken into several pieces, and everything else was completely wrecked.
"Did you just have a fight here?"
Lailah looked at Shiori in confusion. This place had been destroyed so perfectly that there was no place left to make or drink anything.
Shiori was currently lying face down on the steering wheel. She had never felt as stressed as she did today. She had used all of the driving techniques that she had practiced for years, yet the only one who felt uncomfortable was herself.
Although she did not want to admit it, Shiori knew that there was an invisible energy field or something around Nexus's body that nullified all negative effects from the outside world.
Lailah's question made Shiori stare at her for a few seconds. Lailah really was weak, and she did not even have any superpower or anything. From what she had observed along with what she sensed, Lailah was not pretending.
As for Nexus, he was not pretending either. His arrogant personality was the best proof of his absolute confidence in his own strength.
"Follow me."
With that, Shiori got out of the car. Nexus and Lailah followed behind her until they reached a ruined room and stopped.
"There's nothing here either?"
Lailah frowned suspiciously. Since coming to Earth, she had gone to many places. She had drunk coffee or soft drinks at many different shops but had never seen anywhere like this.
"Under your feet."
Nexus pointed one finger at the floor. This little trick could not fool the strongest cultivator on Earth in this era.
Clearly, this coffee shop had been built underground. Judging from the design, this place was quite secret for customers, allowing them to choose to drink in private rooms.
"How can you see that?"
Shiori narrowed her eyes as she looked at Nexus. Suddenly, she had a feeling that her ability was about to lose its place because Nexus had some other ability that was even more ridiculous.
"You can see it just by opening your eyes. I'm not as useless as you, mortal. I am the supreme being, the greatest existence of this era. Hahaha…"
Nexus talked to himself and laughed to himself, then satisfied himself. He even added his own lighting effects as if he were the only center of attention in this world.
Seeing Nexus looking like he was getting more and more 'sick', Lailah also began to wonder whether there would be a day when he went crazy and flipped the entire Earth upside down. He would not destroy it, but as for flipping the Earth upside down, who could guarantee that Nexus would not do it?
"I understand, I understand."
Shiori nodded at Lailah. Although she did not understand Lailah very well, seeing Nexus acting so stupid like this made Shiori feel that Lailah must also have a huge headache dealing with him.
"You understand shit. How can an inferior mortal even think about understanding the great Nexus?"
While nodding, Shiori suddenly froze. She was talking to Lailah! Why did he suddenly put her down for such a ridiculous reason?
"That's enough. Don't stand here anymore. Let's find somewhere to sit and talk."
Shiori sighed and lightly stomped her feet a few times. The floor began to collapse, forming extremely difficult-to-walk stairs leading underground.
The three of them went down together and found a coffee shop, but it was decorated no differently from a bar with a rather dark atmosphere.
There were no staff here to greet them, nor was there a single person in sight. If someone saw this, they might even suspect that Shiori had lured Nexus and Lailah here to lock them up.
"Follow me."
Shiori led the two of them to a wall. She took out a card and swiped it across the wall, then the wall immediately began to move.
A soundproof glass room with all the necessary facilities appeared. The ventilation system, fire protection, electricity, water, and anything else were all fully equipped.
After they stepped inside, the door automatically closed. Now even if they screamed until their throats were torn apart, no one would come to save them.
"What do you two want to drink?"
Shiori picked up the tablet on the table and asked. She had said she would treat them to coffee, so she would not go back on her word, even though that was not her main purpose.
"Can I get something sweet?"
Lailah did not think much about it. As long as it was something sweet, she had basically never disliked any dish.
"Yes. What about you?"
Shiori nodded and then looked at Nexus. But the moment she looked over, Nexus's bright and extremely annoying eyes made her eyelids twitch.
"I do not drink the inferior stuff of mortals."
The corner of Shiori's mouth twitched. She knew something ridiculous was going to happen. This damn guy opened his mouth and looked down on others, calling everyone a 'mortal'. What the hell was going on in his head?
"Hmph, you say that like you're not a mortal. You just awakened a powerful ability and already look down on everyone else?"
She snorted and glared at Nexus. She really hated arrogant bastards who were crazy like this.
