Chapter 145: 145 - My Little Angel
If you said Bell had never done anything wrong in his entire life, he wouldn't dare claim that. But if you asked him whether he had done anything wrong from just now until now, he would confidently say no.
All he had been doing was running. Running here, then running there, just to help Lailah find Nexus. How was that wrong?
"Don't you dare say you haven't done anything wrong? You took such good care of Lailah like a little ancestor, so what exactly are your bad intentions? Don't think I can't see that you want to steal her from me. Let me tell you, this is my little angel."
As he spoke, Nexus reached out and wrapped his arm around Lailah's waist, pulling her closer to his side. This sudden action left Lailah stunned as well.
Right now, she felt like she had somehow created a huge problem herself. Nexus used to be very lazy and wouldn't act like this.
She was an angel, an immortal existence recognized by this plane. Who could own an angel? No one. Yet now Nexus actually dared to openly claim that she belonged to him.
Bell was left dumbfounded by these ridiculous arguments to the point where he didn't even know how to respond. This was clearly framing an innocent person!
"Lailah, what the hell did you turn Nexus into? No matter how I look at him, he doesn't seem like the same person at all?"
"I don't know. Don't ask me."
Held tightly by Nexus, Lailah could only helplessly lean against him while shaking her head and answering Bell. There was nothing wrong with Nexus being like this. At least, in Lailah's eyes, his level of danger wasn't as high as it had been at first.
"How dare you two ignore me? Kid, are you looking for a beating?"
Although he was talking about both of them, Nexus only glared at Bell. Of course, trying to scare Bell with just a glare was impossible.
Unless Nexus played dirty and used his eyes to unleash the extremely powerful pressure created from spiritual qi.
"Why would I steal Lailah? She rarely gets a chance to come to Earth and have fun, so I just wanted her to enjoy herself a little. Besides, you definitely know that I've always been trying my best to help Lailah find you."
Facing a Nexus whose personality had suddenly changed like this really gave Bell a bit of a headache, but from what he could tell, Nexus was still Nexus. None of his core rules had been broken. He was just acting more arrogant than before.
"Tsk, it's really hard to pick a fight with a smart person."
Seeing that Bell wasn't doing anything stupid, Nexus clicked his tongue and frowned. He was actually hoping Bell would rush at him so he'd have an excuse to beat Bell up for fun.
"So what are you planning to do now?"
Seeing clearly that Nexus wasn't actually that crazy, Bell calmly asked. If Nexus said something too crazy, he might try to stop him.
"Same as before. I'll still look for new disciples and teach them how to cultivate. It's just that this time, the admission standards will be higher. If you don't look pleasing to me, even if you beg to join me, I won't let you in."
Nexus raised his chin with an extremely smug look. This appearance was no different from Ziz or the system. Very annoying, but still not a bad person.
"And you..."
While looking at Bell, Nexus suddenly lightly pinched Lailah's cheek with one hand and lifted her head up. Their two faces were so close that both of their breaths became incredibly clear... no, only one. Lailah breathed, while Nexus didn't.
"Do you need me to do something?"
Although her speech wasn't very clear because her mouth was being pinched, Lailah was still extremely nice to Nexus. If she weren't this kind, Mia wouldn't have been able to easily forgive her for taking away the time Mia could have spent with Bell.
"Didn't you come here to keep an eye on me? Then you just need to stay by my side. Play whatever you want, eat whatever you want. With me here, no one can stop you."
As soon as Nexus finished speaking, Lailah's sparkling eyes stared straight at him. The more carefully Lailah looked at him, the more she felt there was nothing wrong with him at all.
Clearly, she had done the right thing. How could such a kind person who wanted her to eat, play, and have fun be a disaster capable of destroying the universe?
But just as she was about to smile, Lailah suddenly stopped. What gave Nexus the right to say she could do whatever she wanted? Was he planning to use force to threaten other people?
Lailah admitted that eating candy or going out to have fun made her happy, but if the price was making other people afraid, she couldn't accept that.
"Do you have money?"
"Is that important?"
Being suddenly asked this made Nexus frown. With his current arrogant personality that looked down on mortals, how could he possibly go out and make money? Besides, why would he need money when he could just take whatever he wanted?
"It's important! Of course it's extremely important! How can you use your power to steal things that mortals worked so hard to create?"
Even though Nexus hugged Lailah even tighter and even pinched her mouth, Lailah still had plenty of authority when lecturing Nexus.
"Why did I only realize now that you're this cute?"
Nexus suddenly turned Lailah around, then used both hands to pinch her cheeks and smiled with narrowed eyes. What Lailah wanted to temporarily change about Nexus's personality wasn't ineffective. It's just that Lucifer's heart had gotten in the way halfway through, which was why Nexus ended up like this.
"Did you forget we have Bell? You aren't short on a little money, are you?"
After just being falsely accused, Nexus now blatantly asked for money, causing Bell's eyelids to twitch at Nexus's shamelessness.
"Don't worry, Lailah. Let yourself eat and play as much as you want. It won't cost that much anyway."
Bell was actually a bit annoyed, but still agreed to give Nexus the money. Even if Nexus had suddenly become strange, to Bell, it wasn't really a bad thing.
And it was true that it wouldn't cost much. For someone with a low income, taking care of Lailah would be difficult, but for Bell, it was completely insignificant.
Lailah wasn't like other girls who wanted a house, wanted a car, wanted expensive luxury brands, wanted money, or wanted to travel. If Bell didn't take the initiative to invite Lailah to travel somewhere far away, he only needed to buy her a bunch of lollipops for her to suck on.
