Chapter 138: Portal Water
After rummaging through the magic bag for a while, Lailah took out something that looked like eye drops. Inside the bottle was a strange liquid, and one glance was enough to tell it wasn’t anything ordinary.
"Found it. This is called portal water. Just drop a single drop onto any body of water, and it can open a vortex that acts as a teleportation gate. The teleportation gate connects to the nearest body of water in the area we want to go to.
But we have to calculate the approximate distance correctly before we can use it. One more thing to note is that the teleportation gate only lasts for ten seconds."
As soon as she took out the magical gadget, she introduced its function to Bell. Her purpose was, of course, to have Bell help her figure out the optimal location.
To be honest, Lailah now felt that she wasn’t very suited to being a tour guide. She was completely clueless about everything a tour guide needed to know.
"Got it. Let me look at the map first so I can determine the location."
The function of the portal water surprised Bell greatly. If possible, he wanted to keep this for himself because of its amazing use. But thinking about it again, taking Lailah’s things would definitely leave a bad impression.

Bell opened his phone to look at the map, then looked at the direction the compass needle was pointing. After looking for a while, as if he had realized something, he immediately frowned.
The direction the compass needle was pointing was toward his home. Although he wasn’t certain, teleporting back to the city where he lived wasn’t a bad choice.
"I think we should teleport back."
"What? Such a coincidence?"
Lailah frowned. She even had the thought that Nexus had actually been waiting for her to come looking for it all along. The first time was probably just a small trial, which was why they hadn’t met.
"Hehe, then let’s get going."
Looking around, they spotted a fountain. Lailah quickly tried to drop a single drop of portal water into it, but Bell immediately grabbed her hand.
"Do you even know how far it is from here to the city we live in?"
Faced with this question, Lailah only blinked her beautiful eyes at Bell. That innocent yet completely oblivious look left Bell with nothing but a sigh.
"Wait, tell me clearly, how is the distance calculated?"
"A straight line connecting two points."
After getting the answer, Bell simply nodded and began calculating. A proper S-rank hunter who used his fists more than mathematics now had to sit down and do math like this, which made Bell feel a little nostalgic about his school days.
Perhaps Lailah really was the most suitable tour guide for an omnipotent being like Nexus. No matter how useless she wanted to be, Nexus wouldn’t care.
If they only needed to calculate the road or air distance, there were plenty of ways to check it with a phone. But calculating a straight-line distance meant the path had to cut through part of the Earth’s surface, so Bell had to calculate it to find an approximate number.
After finishing the calculation, Bell frowned. He wasn’t sure whether the margin of error was too large. If a mistake of a few kilometers caused the two of them to teleport underground, they would be screwed. Lailah couldn’t die, but if Bell accidentally ended up in lava, he really would slowly die.
"Hey, is there any chance we could teleport underground?"
"No, I guarantee that when we reach the destination, the sky will be right above us."
Lailah immediately shook her head. Her magical gadget couldn’t possibly be so dangerous to the user.
"That’s good then."
Bell nodded and told Lailah what he had calculated. Then, she dropped a single drop into the fountain. A vortex large enough for Bell to jump into immediately appeared.
"Let me go first."
Even though he knew Lailah couldn’t die, Bell still wanted to go first to check what the hell kind of place it was. If there was any danger, he would have enough time to react.
As soon as he jumped down, Lailah jumped after him because there wasn’t much time. Just like that, a man and a woman disappeared as they jumped into the fountain in front of many people in the amusement park.
"Mom, why did those two people disappear?"
A little boy who was licking an ice cream cone was so shocked that he dropped the ice cream onto the ground. His eyes were filled with both fear and curiosity as he looked toward his mother.
"They’re hunters, so it’s normal for them to have special abilities."
The mother casually replied. She had also been scared by this scene. This wasn’t something a low-rank hunter could do.
On the surface of a small lake in a park far away from the city center, a not-too-large vortex suddenly appeared above the water. Bell appeared, but his feet came out of the vortex before his head.
"Are you kidding me?"
A strong gust of wind suddenly rushed over. Bell stepped on it and immediately spun around. Before he could stabilize himself, Lailah’s legs also appeared.
Bell quickly wrapped his arms around her and rode the wind to the shore. Looking around, this place wasn’t particularly unfamiliar to him either.
"Not bad, it’s only a little over thirty kilometers from the headquarters of the Wolf Guild."
He traveled around a lot, so basically, he knew about anything noteworthy in any public place in the city.
Lailah didn’t really care where this place was. She just stared at the universal compass. Following the direction of the compass, Lailah frowned and pointed in that direction.
"Is there anything special in that direction?"
Bell followed her finger and immediately frowned. That was the direction of the American Hunter Academy.
When he was eighteen, Bell didn’t awaken because he wanted to train himself more, believing that the stronger he became, the stronger his awakened ability would be.
Now that he had awakened, he also wanted to go there to study. Mainly so he could meet more talented people. The more people he got to know, the higher the chance of inviting talented members of the new generation to join the Wolf Guild.
