Chapter 123: Realizing Something
Mark himself couldn’t believe that doing something as simple as that would make Emily heal his arms and legs.
Looks like she really has a good impression of me. Hmm... this person seems to care a lot about tea. Just now, I only spat the tea out, and she directly broke all four of my limbs. Who the hell is this extremely crazy woman? Why are all the Hunters with healing abilities I’ve met such assholes?
The more he thought about it, the more depressed Mark felt. People often say that those with healing abilities are usually very compassionate, but who did Mark meet?
First, there was Mia, his ex-girlfriend who dumped him to pursue someone with a higher status. And now there was this crazy woman whose name he didn’t even know, who had an absurdly intense passion for tea.
The system had said that this wasn’t impossible, so Mark could only grit his teeth and endure it. The faster he figured out where the deliciousness of this tea was, the faster he would recover his body.
Although the system hadn’t promised that he would recover, Mark knew very well that the system would make it happen. That arrogant system would absolutely never accept a useless cripple as the number one disciple of the Cultivation Academy.
"Now it’s good. I’m pretty free these days, so I’ll come every day to give you tea to drink."
Emily grinned. It had been a long time since she had felt this happy. But Mark definitely couldn’t hear her talking, so she shook his hand as an agreement to Mark’s proposal.
Luckily, she agreed. If she hadn’t agreed, I probably would’ve had to stay crippled like this forever.
Emily’s handshake made Mark relax a little. He could count it as a small happy thing.
Emily’s tea flavor was always very abstract. No matter how much he drank, Mark still couldn’t find anything delicious about it.
But for some reason, the more he drank, the less difficult it was to drink. Could this be the body’s adaptation?
Mark wasn’t quite sure, but at least he understood that this was a positive sign. Like this, Mark could focus more on sensing the flavor because the feeling of nausea had decreased a lot.
---
A week passed, and after drinking tea continuously for several days, Mark realized that there was something inside the tea that he hadn’t noticed before.
Because of the system’s interference, Mark’s current bizarre condition meant that he didn’t need to eat anything to stay alive. Thanks to that, for the entire week, Mark had only been able to sense a single tea flavor without being disturbed by the taste of any other food or drink.
After paying close attention, Mark finally realized that this tea wasn’t completely without any deliciousness. If he separated each flavor inside it, he felt that it wasn’t too bad. But the problem was that there was something very incompatible with the human brain. When she combined all those flavors together, anyone who drank it would immediately feel disgusted and want to vomit, or even get so shocked that they fainted.
The more Mark thought about it, the more he felt that there was something very strange hidden inside the tea Emily made. No matter how bitter or unpleasantly someone brewed tea normally, it shouldn’t make the brain feel such a strong rejection.
Could this be called developing feelings for tea after drinking it so much? Mark wasn’t sure, but he was starting to feel that this tea wasn’t bad.
Emily could naturally see Mark’s reaction very clearly. The more she watched, the more satisfied she became, smiling because Mark was entering the depths of the meaning hidden within the tea’s flavor.
"Hahaha, I knew I wasn’t wrong about you. As expected of my soulmate, just keep going like this, and you’ll be the first person to understand what kind of tea flavor I’ve been trying to create."
Emily smiled with her eyes narrowed. A soulmate who didn’t know what she looked like, couldn’t hear her voice, and couldn’t speak, yet somehow made her feel happier than being beside anyone else.
This time, Mark’s luck had a very high chance of exploding. If Mark could successfully analyze the tea’s flavor and satisfy Emily, he would have an A-rank Hunter with a high-level healing ability as his backing.
Emily’s healing ability was also among the best in the world. With her help, as long as Mark still had a breath left, there was no way he could die.
Feeling like he was about to understand everything, Mark tried to analyze it for another day, and finally came up with a result that satisfied him.
"System, where are you? I understand now. Hurry up and heal me so I can analyze the flavor for her too."
In his consciousness, Mark shouted the system’s name loudly. At first, he thought Emily was just a crazy woman, but after understanding her tea, he realized that he was actually the one at fault.
After learning how hard she had tried, Mark finally understood how upset she must have been when he spat all the tea out right in front of her.
[Mortal, you really disappoint me. It only took a little tea, yet you managed to take more than a week. You truly are a disgrace to the Cultivation Academy. You should be glad that this great system didn’t make you practice by eating shit.]
The moment it appeared, the system’s words startled Mark. Mark didn’t think the system was joking, and it probably really intended to make Mark eat shit as training.
If he successfully trained like that, Mark would probably develop a mindset like Ziz. Shit was just a part of a planet, so swallowing a planet meant swallowing a whole bunch of shit.
"Great System, please let me off. I’ve already tried my best to get this far. How about you go find another disciple to carry the reputation of the Cultivation Academy instead."
Mark smiled, but he looked more like he was crying. He knew very well that there was nothing special about him, so of course he didn’t want to carry the reputation of an academy that didn’t even have a reputation to begin with.
[That’s already taken care of, so you don’t need to worry about it. Later, you’ll meet the academy’s reliable second disciple.]
Although it didn’t like White’s disrespectful attitude toward the system, the system had to admit that she was currently the best disciple. It probably wouldn’t be able to find a better disciple in the future either.
