INFINITE MEMORIES : MY F-RANK SKILL IS ACTUALLY THE STRONGEST

Chapter 107: STARLIGHT BASTION

<Chapter - 107 The Starlight Bastion>

The Orion-9 Starlight Bastion was a hollowed-out celestial asteroid ten miles in diameter, encased within multi-layered bands of glowing jade defense conduits.

For three hundred years, it had served as the frontline staging fortress for the Seventh Void Sect—an interstellar hub where pillaged cores from lower planetary sectors were processed, refined, and shipped to the Celestial Hegemony’s core domains.

Now, as the newly christened flagship Grand Eclipse docked smoothly into the central obsidian cradle alongside the other forty-two dreadnoughts, the bastion fell into a dead, reverent hush.

High Fleet Admiral Vaelen led the Vanguard down the massive, star-iron disembarkation bridge. His towering, twelve-foot frame was draped in ceremonial white and gold mantles, his four energy eyes glowing with submissive, calm gold light. Behind him, hundreds of void-sergeants and mechanical engineers lined the gangway, their heads bowed low toward the star-iron floor.

Walking calmly down the center of the gangway was Noah Kurtz.

Noah’s dark woolen coat was open, ash-black hair falling slightly across his brow. His slouching posture remained entirely unhurried, his hands buried deep inside his coat pockets. Pinned over his left lapel, the dark ironwood leaf brooch absorbed the ambient starlight, humming with a quiet, ancient resonance. Underneath his sleeves, his black ironwood forearm guards circulated his Platinum Archive Authority in a pristine, zero-waste loop.

Walking beside him, her pale fingers linked securely within his right palm, was Rin Asakura.

Rin wore her soft lavender kimono with deep indigo trims, the white fur-trimmed collar resting gently against her neck. Her simple wooden practice sword swayed lightly at her left hip.

Her crystalline violet eyes looked out across the colossal hollowed interior of the asteroid city.

Without a blindfold, Rin’s perception was breathtakingly comprehensive. Through Asura’s Touch intertwined with unsealed void-sight, she mapped the bastion’s structural integrity, the immense gravitational stabilizers keeping the asteroid from collapsing, and the thousands of mechanical life signatures trembling in awe.

Through their entwined hands, Noah sent a steady, comforting thread of warm Ki into her palm, shielding her meridians from the harsh, synthetic atmosphere of the asteroid’s docks.

Rin turned her violet eyes up toward Noah’s profile, her pale lips curving into a serene, breathtaking smile.

"The stone of this fortress is ancient, Noah..." Rin whispered softly, her melodic, formal cadence carrying an intimate warmth that touched his ear. "Beneath their green lights and synthetic wires, the bones of this place were forged from petrified ironwood. It remembers your name."

Noah turned his head, his steel-gray eyes softening with quiet, genuine tenderness as he looked into her violet irises. He gently squeezed her fingers, his thumb brushing across her knuckles with steady protection.

"The 14th Cycle built the Orion Bastion as a planetary waypoint, Rin," Noah spoke softly, his flat, rasping whisper carrying the weight of ancient eras. "The Harvesters only built walls over the foundation."

Behind them, Jiho Park walked with heavy, echoing strides, his oversized canvas duffel bag slung lazily over his broad shoulder. His faded slide sandals clicked rhythmically against the pristine star-iron floor.

Jiho paused at the edge of the docking bay, sniffing the air with deep, sleepy curiosity.

"Man," Jiho mumbled, scratching his messy hair with a thick finger. "Master, this asteroid smells like hot metal and fried circuits. But look over there—they’ve got giant crates of blue fruit and cured space-beast ribs stacked ten feet high. Do I get to eat those?"

"Those are Grade-IX Celestial Manticore rations, Juggernaut," Admiral Vaelen replied respectfully, bowing his head slightly toward Jiho. "Harvested from the outer nebulae. They are meant to replenish high-density physical bodies."

"Sweet," Jiho grinned, his droopy eyes flashing with absolute satisfaction as he grabbed a cured rib the size of a baseball bat, chewing happily. "Vaelen, you’re not so bad for a space guy."

"Alistair, keep your hands off the core capacitor," Chloe Harrington warned from behind, catching her silver coin with a crisp, metallic snap.

Alistair Vance was practically levitating with excitement, his glasses askew, sprinting toward an open terminal with three brass diagnostic gauges clutched in his arms. "Do you realize what is sitting in the bastion’s primary reactor, Chloe?! It’s a pre-Cataclysm Platinum Stellar Well! It generates twenty terawatts of uncalibrated spatial energy per second! With this much power, I can calibrate Noah’s jump-gates across two entire galaxies!"

"And with that much coffee, you’re going to explode," Chloe laughed, adjusting her duster collar with a rebellious smirk.

She twirled one of her dead platinum revolvers around her finger before holstering it smoothly. Her amber eyes swept across the vast, gold-lit interior of the asteroid. "Not a bad upgrade from the slums of Sentinel City, Boss. A private asteroid, forty-three warships, and an army of alien grunts who think you’re a god."

"Not a god, Chloe," Noah said flatly, walking up the grand central steps toward the Bastion’s high command hall. "Just a man taking back what was stolen."

The High Command Hall of Orion-9 was a towering, vaulted chamber constructed from solid obsidian pillars and bands of pure, glowing platinum ore.

At the center of the hall stood the Imperial Sovereign Dais—a raised throne forged from petrified ironwood and starlight alloy, untouched by the Void Sect for three millennia because none of their commanders possessed the authority to sit upon it without being disintegrated by ancient security wards.

Admiral Vaelen dropped to one knee before the dais, bowing deeply.

"Supreme Sovereign," Vaelen spoke, his vocal synthesizer trembling with solemn gravity. "The Orion-9 Bastion is fully synchronized to your authority. However, our deep-space long-range relays have intercepted a tier-one emergency transmission from the Celestial Hegemony’s Core Sector."

Noah stopped at the base of the dais, his hands shoved deep into his coat pockets. "Speak."

"The dissolution of the International System on Terra-Zero was detected by the Three Grand Theocracies," Vaelen reported grimly. "They have deployed the First Fleet of the Divine Sun—commanded by High Inquisitor Grand Invocator Cassian. They are moving to purge Orion-9 and reclaim the Platinum Stellar Well before your authority can expand to the Ashen Core."

Noah’s steel-gray eyes remained completely unbothered, flat and clinical.

Beside him, Rin stepped smoothly up to his right side, her violet eyes burning with absolute, fearless devotion. She slid her left hand naturally into Noah’s right palm, their fingers entwining in an unbreakable lock as her right hand rested upon the hilt of her wooden practice sword.

"Let them come, Noah," Rin murmured softly, her breath warm against his sleeve, her lips curving into a serene, beautiful smile. "We broke their church on Earth. We will break their fleet in the stars."

Noah looked down at her beautiful, smiling face, feeling the steady, unhurried rhythm of her heartbeat—the anchor that kept his soul rooted in the light of the present era. A subtle, genuine smile touched the corner of his lips.

Noah raised his left hand, placing his palm against the petrified ironwood of the Sovereign Dais.

Circulate.

Underneath his dark sleeves, his black ironwood forearm guards flared with blinding, platinum-white luminescence. Inside his spine, his Platinum Authority surged to 3.50% Synchronization, igniting the entire asteroid bastion into a fortress of unyielding Ashen Ki.

"Jiho, finish your meat," Noah spoke softly, his flat, rasping whisper carrying the ancient, terrifying authority of the Ashen Sovereign. "Alistair, spin the Stellar Well. Chloe, map the firing lines."

"Got it, Master!" Jiho cheered, tossing a bone over his shoulder.

"Spinning the Well at maximum resonance!" Alistair yelled from the consoles.

"Probability lines locked and loaded, Boss," Chloe grinned, spinning her coin.

Noah tightened his grip around Rin’s pale hand, looking through the massive crystal ceiling at the endless, starlit expanse of the galaxy.

"Let the Hegemony come, Rin," Noah said gently. "The Ashen Court is open."
