5 Times a Day

028: Lost…?

**Chapter 28**

“You okay, Tyler?” Aunt Elise asked, pulling me out of my trance.

“What?” I was still deep enough that I wasn’t listening as well as she thought.

“You seemed to be in a daze,” she said. “And you’re too close.”

“I’m what now?” I looked down. I was close to her—not creepy, but closer than I remembered moving.

‘Lust.’ Rox’s situation flashed through my mind. I stepped back fast. Even though I couldn’t get hard anymore, my hormones felt out of control. The sweet scent that kept clouding my judgment was already strange enough. Now this daze on top of it.

“I-I’m sorry. I was deep in thought.” I moved back to my seat behind the counter.

“Clearly. You miss home that much? You’re spacing out too often.” Aunt Elise didn’t seem to find the moment too strange. If she were in my shoes, she’d understand the panic.

“It’s not that,” I said, but I didn’t have a real answer either. Before I could invent a sensible lie, the front door opened, and Sasha’s voice carried through the house.

“Mom! Lunch!”

“And she’s home.” Aunt Elise called back, “It’s almost ready!”

Almost ready? She had just started. I looked at her. She was nearly finished. Then I checked the clock. Almost three in the afternoon. I’d been out of it for nearly forty minutes. What the hell happened in those forty minutes was a question I needed answered.

“Hey,” Sasha said as she walked into the dining room, followed by Mira and Sara in casual clothes. They had changed since morning. Sasha still wore the same skirt.

That skirt held happy memories. But that wasn’t what held my attention. Beyond the questions about my daze, another one kept bothering me. Why wasn’t I picking up the same intoxicating fragrance from Sasha—only from Aunt Elise?

“Hello~~~” Sasha waved her hand in front of my face because I hadn’t answered. I shook my head and smiled. “Hey. Sorry, I was thinking about…”

My eyes drifted to her skirt, remembering the morning. Sasha smirked.

“I know. You can’t wait to continue.” She leaned in close. “I can’t either.”

She pulled back, turned, then said, “Oh, and I just remembered something.”

“What?” I asked.

She sneakily lifted her skirt from behind, showing me a little of the bottom of her adorable but plentiful butt, and whispered, “I forgot my panties in your car.”

She dropped the skirt and skipped toward the table while I sat frozen at what I’d just seen.

‘Fuck.’ I hadn’t noticed. I should have, but I didn’t. I was too focused on Betty’s situation to catch the obvious panties she’d taken off earlier. I was sure she would have grabbed them when she left the car. Now I knew she hadn’t. I made a mental note to get them before anyone else did.

That would be a load of trouble to explain.

After lunch I retrieved the panties from the car and stored them in my inventory. I was about to do the same with Aunt Elise’s when Sara called out, “Hey, you free?”

I shoved Aunt Elise’s panties back into my pocket fast. “Yeah, why?”

“I need you to check my car. It’s a miracle we made it home. It wouldn’t start this morning, and it was giving me trouble when we left.”

I went to her convertible and checked. The ignition had a slight glitch. Battery problem, just like I expected. Her generator wasn’t working.

Being the genius I was, I fixed the belt, and it ran like a charm. When I finished, I looked at her. “Did you drive in rocky areas?”

“No.” She shook her head. That was strange. The belt wouldn’t snap that easily unless someone hit rocky or uneven roads. The roads here were carpeted, so a break was rare—but not impossible. I let it go.

“How was the exam?” I asked.

“It was great,” Sara replied, but I caught hesitation in her voice. Heightened senses, maybe. Lately I was noticing everything in micro detail.

“It would have been better if not for that douchebag Jackson.” Mira’s voice came from the side. I turned to her. The familiar name told me something was up, so I asked her instead of Sara—Sara would just make an excuse.

“What happened?”

“Nothing happened!” Sara cut in fast, then turned on Mira. “Mind your own business.”

“You are my business. We’re sisters. Twins at that.” Mira didn’t back off. She looked at me. “He tried to force her to go with him first thing this morning. We were lucky a teacher showed up and settled it.”

“That fucker.” My voice went cold. Mira trembled under the look I gave her. I caught myself and asked, “What did he want?”

“Nothing,” Sara said.

“He said he booked a motel room for them,” Mira answered, making me angrier.

“Let it go.” Sara sounded tired.

“Let it go? Sara, he basically tried to force you.” I tried talking sense into her, but the words weren’t landing. Handling it myself wasn’t smart. I’d only been here a short time, and already two incidents had happened around me. Even if the authorities missed it, people close to me might not.

That didn’t mean I could ignore it. If she was willing, different story. If she wasn’t, entirely different story.

“Promise me you won’t do anything.” Sara had no real answer, so she asked me to stay pacifist. On paper, I was.

I smiled, put my hand on her shoulder, and said, “Sure.”

She smiled. That was the goal. I fixed the issues with her car, and she went inside to study. Mira didn’t.

“You’re gonna do something, aren’t you?”

“And I need your help.” I didn’t deny it. Sara had almost been hurt. Even that was worth a heavy penalty.

My penalty.

“Get the word out. I’m sure you have the means. I’m going to be alone tonight on my way to the convenience store.” The nearest store was a twenty-minute walk, and there was a park in the middle where no one would disturb anyone at that hour.
