Chapter 105

I looked at the man who was a little older than me, somewhere in the mid to late twenties. He had pitch-black hair, pitch-black eyes, pale white skin, eyes so deep one would fall into them and never wake up, and a body built like a guy who only occasionally went to the gym to keep himself fit.

All in all, leaving the handsomeness of the man behind, he seemed quite ordinary.

But that was the puzzling part. The goosebumps traveling over my body, the chills running down my skin, and the sweat dripping from my forehead contrasted with that confusion and made me feel only one thing at the moment.

Fear.

“And you are correct to do so. Feel fear, as your life depends on it.” The man said in a British accent, his tone stuck up like one of those old TV shows.

I couldn’t help but gulp at his words. I was beyond scared at the moment. He knew it as well, which only made him laugh. “Haha. Do not worry. I am not here to hurt you or something of the sort.”

He said and walked forward. I wanted to step back in fear, but I remained rooted in my spot. Strangely enough, I felt fear and safety at the same time. As if the man before me was my greatest enemy, and my most trusted ally.

“Well, that remains yet to be seen.” The man said as if he could read my mind. I made a mental note of that.

I croaked, trying to say something, but my lips wouldn’t move. I was scared shitless.

“You see, this is why you should not have brought in useless emotions like love.”

“The one before you understood that. He did not care who the woman was, or whether it was even consensual with both parties. He just quelled his lust regardless of how he did.”

The one before me? He was surely talking about Rox. And from his words, I didn’t need an elaboration to know what he meant.

Something equivalent to forcing myself on women. Regardless of who they were, regardless of whether they wanted it or not. As long as they could, Rox had sex with them until their vaginas bled and their lives ended from some sort of effect of cumming inside them.

“I won’t do that.” I made my stance clear. I didn’t care whether I went berserk or not; there were some lines that could just never be crossed. Even in my scared state, I somehow made sure to reply to that.

“Mmm…” The man remained silent after my reply for a moment and then asked, “What do you think the system is?”

“I don’t know,” I replied without a second’s delay.

“Well, allow me to elaborate. The system came into existence during my youth.” The man said, and suddenly, the white space transformed into a dark, eerie cave where there were multiple scientific tools. They weren’t medieval kinds of tools. Those tools resembled those from sci-fi movies or were even more advanced than them.

They were far past what a human imagination could make, and that was enough to tell me how advanced the place was. Yet the dark, eerie setup was the same.

“I wanted to obtain power beyond my limits, you see.” The man said as a figure appeared in my view. The figure seemed a little younger, but the resemblance was uncanny. It was the same man beside me. Just younger.

“Power beyond your limits?” I questioned.

“Mhm.” The man nodded. “But the world was not ready for that power yet. Some cosmic forces compelled the overseers of my world to destroy me, and while they could not do it themselves, they selected a few chosen ones to stop me and bring me to my end.”

While his way of speaking was quite stuck up and confusing as hell, what he basically meant was that a party of heroes was selected to kill him. The whole hero and demon king shebang.

“But they were not as powerful as I was.” The man said, and the scene once again changed, with bodies of different females chained to the walls, naked and covered in white matter, while the men were kept alive and bound, but conscious so they could see the young man screwing their women.

It was a cruel sight to see, but for some reason, I felt nothing for them. No empathy, no nothing. All I could feel was that they were going through various emotions. Especially one of them. The blonde man in the middle.

The blonde man was covered in armor that gave off a medieval feel but was quite advanced. His head was down, but unlike the others who were feeling rage at seeing the women being raped, he felt almost nothing.

“That is my first holder.” The man next to me said.

“Why? Weren’t you unbeatable?” I asked.

“I was.” The man replied, “But then it became quite monotonous, you see. Every day, their will to resist died, and the reactions of the women would not excite me anymore. The anger died along with it, making it useless.”

So he was bored.

“That is one way to put it, yes.” The man turned to me and said. “But they were not the end. More and more continued to come. They did whatever they could to defeat me until there was no one left to defeat in the world anymore.”

“It was then that I had no other reason to live in that world.”

“The dragons, no matter what kind, were weaker than I was. The gods could not touch me. The cosmic powers had given up on the world and were simply awaiting its destruction.”

“But…” The man suddenly stopped when the scene changed once again.

It showed the blonde man, the first hero, now old and withered, standing before the man’s corpse.

“I seemed to have underestimated the patience of a human. Their will was not as weak as I had suspected. That one in particular was different.”

The scene ended with the old man ending the life of the man standing next to me and taking out his heart to eat it. What happened next was a mystery to me because the scene changed, but I did see the man transforming into something.

Something familiar.

“Nice story,” I said.

“So you do not seem to be a fool.” The man said, a soft chuckle escaping his lips when he ended the sentence.

That’s what it was. A story. There was no way a weak and old, withered man could have defeated the man next to me. He was the epitome of power, and if the feeling of fear had not suddenly vanished, I would still be cowering in fear.

“How did he defeat you?” I asked. The most basic question, but it was also the most crucial question in this subject.

“Haha.” The man laughed. “He did not defeat me. I found something to just live eternally.”

I noticed that. The heart in the old man’s hand. It was the same one I had eaten when I awakened the first time. Before that, the system was just basic, but everything started to happen once I awakened after eating that heart.

The system. He became the system itself. His heart was what could facilitate that.

But that also came at a price.

“You are once again correct.” The man said before I could analyze any further.

“While I became an existence that could live forever, I required a host. And due to the interference of the cosmic powers, the heart was bound to travel between worlds.”

“While some worlds were full of supernatural cosmic powers, some were devoid of them and died before the full power of the system could be achieved.”

The man explained. But once again, there was something in there that didn’t make any sense to me. Thankfully, he dropped a hint at the end.

Rumble!!

Suddenly, the ground shook.

“Oh, my.” The man said, “It seems our time has come to an end.”

“I see,” I replied.

“Do not be so wary of me. If I wished you to be dead, I would have done so from the beginning.” The man said. His words made me all the more wary of him, though.

“Haha. I guess there is no helping that.” The man said with a chuckle before he added something final that he had to say, “And do not worry when you return. I used my authority to let you go unpunished. But do not miss it from now on. The punishment of the system holds a much deeper meaning than you think.”

“What?” His words didn’t make any sense to me, but I didn’t have the time to ask him to elaborate. My head felt like someone was banging on it, and suddenly, my eyes snapped open.

When I came to my senses, the first thing I felt was the soft grass beneath my body, and the second thing I came to know was the annoying pinging of the system.

And the third thing…

Well, the third thing was a bit… confusing.
