Chapter 96: A Risky Technique
By the time Ronan walked out of the tent, he had a satisfied expression on his face, meanwhile, the General slumped onto his chair, his eyes lost as he seemed to have aged several years.
Who... who exactly was Basha? Even after bringing the value down ten times, it was still 6,000 gold coins down the drain.
He didn’t even know how he agreed to it. That kid had such a good mouth, and his reasons all made sense.
This would correspond to not only the future death of a King Realm expert but also bringing down an Orc tribe with tens of thousands in population.
That was huge, and even if Ronan and the rest wouldn’t be doing the fighting, they were doing the important task of planting the Sayo Eater seed in the energy base.
The risks were evident, and even if they were to die, they would make sure that the seed was planted. So, were 2,000 coins too much?
The General was shaken, but then again, the corpse, an intact one of a King Realm creature, would be worth 1,000 gold coins. Then, the tense of thousands of Sovereign Realm and Transcendent Realm Orcs would be worth more than 1,000 coins, right?
The total value of the Orc tribe will be more than 10,000 gold coins profit for the military, right? And Ronan only asked for 2,000... for each member.
Argh...
But that was 6,000 coins, no?
"Was this the right thing to do?" The General couldn’t help but mutter as he rubbed his temples. That kid was really something, but it didn’t seem like the military lost a lot unless...
Wait a minute...
It would have been the military that gained if they only gave Ronan’s team 6,000 coins. They would still have more than 10,000 coins as profit, but that was counting on Ronan’s team actually killing and taking care of the whole Orc tribe.
Ronan and his team would plant the seed and leave, while he and his men would attack, and even the mayor would fight the King Realm beings.
The military would have to buy these corpses from the soldiers after all at a price lower than the market price. They did the work and killed the Orcs... Ronan and his team only planted the Sayo Eater seed.
Damn it...
This kid made the military bleed big time.
"Basha..." The General gritted his teeth as he called out and walked out, but Ronan and the rest had already disappeared.
Now, the General was sure this kid... took advantage of him.
****
Earlier...
Shortly after Ronan left the General’s tent, he met with the soldiers and told them to fight with honor. Then, he had a little chat with Peci. After these days of being together, they had grown close.
Although Peci would call Ronan his friend, Ronan would argue peci was just an acquaintance.
"Stay alive, Basha," Peci said as Ronan nodded.
"Don’t worry, I will. I should be telling you to stay alive for the coming war," Ronan spoke as Peci laughed. Then, Peci sighed as he opened his arms to hug Ronan.
But... wait, why didn’t he feel any warm embrace? Where was Ronan?
Looking around, Ronan and the girls were gone as Peci felt his face twitch.
What the hell?
Meanwhile, Ronan had dragged the girls away as soon as he felt the General’s aura rising.
He had played a fast one on the General, a technique he learnt: deal with a high number, argue like you lost, bring it down to your targeted number, and leave the opponent feeling like you have suffered a massive loss while they gained more.
They will pity you, and because it is a large number, it takes a while for everything to kick in, so you gotta escape before it does, as soon as everything is done.
A risky technique, but in Ronan’s hands, it had a high rate of success.
"Master... you..." Yen opened her mouth in awe.
"Are you a merchant? How are you so good?" Hesa couldn’t help but ask. She had only seen such shrewdness in merchants as they scam people, but Ronan seemed even better than them.
He just scammed a General of the military, right? 2,000 gold coins was something even the General barely earned in a year, yet Ronan wanted to collect it at one job?
"Don’t worry, just stick around. You will learn one or two from me," Ronan said with a laugh as he quickened his pace. The girls rolled their eyes.
They had to get as far away from the military base as they could.
Only after a few more minutes did Ronan stop.
"Let’s rest for a while," Ronan said with a bright smile as they entered the small forest after the large stretch of sand.
The damp forest created a rather cozy temperature as they felt their bodies relax.
The giant canopies blocked the sun’s rays and heat, while the cool, thick forest seemed to serve as a relaxing spot as they rested among it, enjoying the cool breeze.
"So, where is the Orc tribe located? We should scout ahead," Yen suddenly said as Hesa looked at Ronan.
Yes, if anything, they couldn’t just barge into the Orc tribe without warning. They needed to at least observe them first, but before they do anything.
"Erm... about that..." Ronan started speaking as the two girls’ expressions changed.
"Wait, you didn’t even ask the General for the map or at least a direction?" Hesa asked, her eyes widening.
"Erm... Master, did you at least pack some food? You know we are acting as normal humans, right? How will we explain not eating for a few days, and the Orcs’ food should be different from ours, no?" Yen asked as Ronan felt he was stuck in the middle.
"Should I be honest, or should I just lie and make everyone feel better?" Ronan asked softly as the two women gritted their teeth.
This bastard...
"Argh... idiot." Hesa said angrily as she turned away from Ronan. She felt if she looked at him a little more, she might just break his skull. Meanwhile, Yen sighed.
This was a problem. With no map or direction, how the hell would they find the Orc tribe?
