The Extra Who Inherited Ragnarok

Chapter 166: Roana’s Voice

The wound in the crimson sky widened.

Something descended through it.

At first, Noah saw only a hand.

Long fingers wrapped in pale armor emerged from the fractured heavens, each joint connected by strands of black energy. The hand pressed against the edges of the opening, forcing it wider.

The Watcher stood motionless.

Its six bodies turned toward the descending presence, their crimson eyes flickering in rapid succession.

EXTERNAL INTERFERENCE DETECTED.

UNKNOWN ENTITY APPROACHING.

COUNTERMEASURE SUSPENDED.

For the first time, the Watcher hesitated.

Noah noticed.

So did Dead Zone.

"It’s afraid," Dead Zone muttered.

The entity beneath the floor tilted its armored head. "Fear is an inaccurate word."

"Then what is it?"

"Recognition."

The descending hand disappeared into the opening.

A figure followed.

It was tall and impossibly thin, wrapped in strips of dark cloth that floated without wind. Its head was concealed beneath a smooth white mask, and a vertical crimson line ran from its forehead to its chin.

No face.

No eyes.

Yet Noah felt its attention settle on him.

His golden eye burned.

The system immediately began glitching.

RAGNAROK SIGNATURE: ACTIVE.

SECOND SIGNATURE: UNIDENTIFIED.

THIRD SIGNATURE: UNIDENTIFIED.

WARNING: OBSERVER DETECTED.

The masked figure lowered its head.

"Three signatures," it said.

Its voice was neither male nor female. It sounded like several distant voices speaking through a single throat.

"One vessel. One prison. One inheritance."

Noah’s fingers tightened around Shadowfang.

Dead Zone stepped forward, crimson energy gathering around its body. "You talk too much."

It vanished.

The attack came from the figure’s blind side.

Shadowfang tore through the air, aimed directly at its neck.

The masked figure raised one finger.

The sword stopped.

Not blocked.

Stopped.

A thin black line appeared across Shadowfang’s blade. The weapon began to crack, the crimson runes flickering beneath the pressure.

Dead Zone’s expression changed.

Noah felt the shock travel through their shared connection.

It stopped Shadowfang with one finger.

The masked figure turned its mask toward Dead Zone.

"You inherited violence without understanding its origin."

Dead Zone pulled backward, wrenching Shadowfang free. "And you inherited a mouth without learning when to close it."

It swung again.

This time, Noah moved with it.

Golden light surged through his legs, and the two consciousnesses attacked together. Dead Zone’s crimson slash came from above while Noah guided a golden strike from below.

The masked figure tilted its body.

Both attacks missed.

The figure’s palm struck Dead Zone’s chest.

A circular mark appeared.

Dead Zone was thrown backward, crashing into the crimson floor.

Noah felt his consciousness shudder.

CONSCIOUSNESS STABILITY: 12% → 9%.

"Stop!" Noah shouted.

The masked figure turned toward him.

The golden light within his body surged violently, reacting to its presence.

For a moment, the figure’s mask cracked.

Behind it was not a face.

There was only darkness, filled with countless tiny golden lights.

Noah saw something within that darkness.

A throne.

A chained silhouette sitting upon it.

And behind the throne, a black figure standing perfectly still.

The same figure from Ragnarok’s battlefield memory.

Noah’s heart lurched.

That’s impossible.

The masked figure raised its hand toward him.

The entity beneath the floor moved between them.

Golden-black armor collided with the descending palm, producing an explosion that swallowed the battlefield in white light.

The Watcher’s six forms screamed.

Not with voices.

With distorted system notifications.

ERROR.

ERROR.

ERROR.

The crimson realm began collapsing.

Cracks spread across the sky, the floor, and the space between realities.

The masked figure remained untouched.

The entity’s armor fractured across its chest.

For the first time, golden blood spilled from the cracks.

It looked down at the wound.

Then it laughed.

A low, broken sound.

"Finally," it whispered.

The masked figure tilted its head.

The entity raised its hand again.

"Now you can remember me."

The entire prison shuddered.

And somewhere beyond the realm, Noah heard Roana scream his name.

"Noah!"

Roana’s scream pierced the collapsing realm.

It reached him through layers of darkness, cutting across the Watcher’s distorted notifications and the masked figure’s silent presence.

Noah turned toward the sound.

For a brief moment, he saw beyond the crimson realm.

The forest.

Broken trees. Burning fragments of crimson energy. The remnants of the transport scattered across the ground.

And Roana.

Her hood had fallen back, revealing long, dark hair whipping across her face. One hand pressed against her side while the other held a short, silver blade. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth.

Behind her, the Watcher’s physical body flickered between existence and distortion.

It was connected to her.

Thin crimson threads stretched from its back into her chest, pulsing with every movement.

She’s controlling it? Noah wondered.

"Noah, listen to me!" Roana shouted.

The connection between them weakened.

The vision began fading.

"Don’t let it—"

Her words dissolved beneath an enormous crash.

The masked figure had moved.

It stood before Noah again, one hand extended toward his chest. The entity intercepted it, driving a golden-black fist into its mask.

The impact shattered the mask.

Beneath it was a hollow void.

The masked figure staggered for the first time.

Dead Zone seized the opportunity.

"Now!"

Noah didn’t hesitate.

Their energies merged.

Crimson power surged through Dead Zone’s body while golden light streamed from Noah’s consciousness, wrapping around Shadowfang. Instead of fighting for control, they moved together, sharing the same intention.

One strike.

The sword cut through the space between them.

The masked figure raised both arms, but Shadowfang pierced its chest.

The blade emerged from its back.

Silence followed.

The entity beneath the floor watched closely.

The masked figure lowered its head, looking at the sword buried in its body.

Then its hollow chest opened.

Not a wound.

A mouth.

Hundreds of thin, whispering voices spilled into the realm.

"Inheritance confirmed."

The figure’s body began dissolving into black threads.

Dead Zone pulled Shadowfang free and stepped backward.

"What was that?"

The entity did not answer.

Its golden blood continued dripping onto the fractured floor, each drop forming a small glowing symbol before vanishing.

Noah felt something changing inside him.

The golden light in his chest had begun moving toward the crimson core.

Not merging.

Circling.

Two forces that had once struggled against each other now moved in an uneasy orbit.

INTERNAL SIGNATURES RESPONDING.

CONSCIOUSNESS STABILITY: 9% → 17%.

UNKNOWN CONNECTION ESTABLISHED.

Noah stared at the notification.

Connection with what?

Before the system could provide an answer, the Watcher attacked.

Its six bodies collapsed into one enormous shape, crimson limbs twisting together. Three eyes opened across its chest, and its arm transformed into a massive spear of condensed energy.

The entity turned toward it.

"Persistent."

The Watcher launched the spear.

The entity raised its hand, but the weapon pierced through its palm.

Golden-black armor ruptured.

The spear continued forward, aimed directly at Noah.

Dead Zone stepped in front of him.

"No."

The weapon struck.

Crimson energy erupted across the realm.

Noah felt Dead Zone’s presence vanish beneath the explosion.

"Dead Zone!"

The golden light in Noah’s chest flared violently.

His body moved without permission.

Not because Dead Zone controlled it.

Because Noah chose to move.

He grabbed the spear with both hands.

The energy tore through his palms, burning into his bones. His knees buckled, but he held on.

The Watcher’s three eyes focused on him.

TARGET RESTABILIZING.

FINAL EXECUTION RECOMMENCING.

Noah gritted his teeth.

"Not... today."

Behind him, Dead Zone rose from the smoke.

Its body was fractured, but its crimson eye burned brighter than before.

The entity looked between them.

And for the first time, it lowered its head in something almost resembling respect.

"Two prisoners," it murmured.

Noah pulled the spear closer.

"Shut up and help us."

The entity’s golden cracks blazed.

"Very well."

The prison beneath the realm opened completely.

And something ancient began climbing out.
