Chapter 125 - 89: Probably a Bit Difficult
As Chen Lin walked out of the seal engraving shop, he stared at the heavy box in his hand. For the first time, he felt a surreal, dreamlike sensation.
’So... I’m a company owner now?’
However, Huang Yiyi didn’t give him much time to get emotional.
She glanced at her watch and said immediately, "Let’s go, President Chen. We’re going to the bank to open the corporate account before they close for lunch."
With Principal Chang Kai having smoothed the way in advance, the process of opening the bank account was exceptionally smooth.
The account manager personally handled their case, giving them the green light all the way. In less than an hour, all the procedures were completed.
After leaving the bank, the two headed straight for the tax and social security bureaus to handle tax registration and open a social security account.
By the time everything was done and they walked out of the social security building, it was already past four in the afternoon.
Chen Lin looked at his assistant beside him. She had run around with him all day, beads of sweat were starting to form on her forehead, and she hadn’t even had time to touch up her makeup. His expression was one of pure admiration.
’Professional. Utterly professional!’
Chen Lin once again felt fortunate that he had persuaded Huang Yiyi to join his company.
「August 10th, 10:00 AM.」
Chen Lin was alone in the empty second-floor office of the co-working space, planning the layout of the workspace, when the phone in his pocket suddenly went BUZZ BUZZ.
He pulled it out and saw two WeChat messages that had arrived at almost the same time.
One was from Huang Yiyi.
"President Chen, I’m on my way to the airport now to go back to Modu and handle my resignation. If all goes well, I expect to be back on August 12th, which is next Tuesday, and can officially start then."
The other was from Sun Yu.
"President Chen! I’m heading back to Modu today! The resignation process at my design institute isn’t complicated, and I’ve already talked to them in advance. I can get it done in three days at most!"
A smile crept onto Chen Lin’s face as he looked at the two messages that had popped up on his screen almost simultaneously.
’My company has barely gotten off the ground, and my core employees are already this proactive. Not bad, not bad at all.’
He tapped his finger, replying to each of them in turn.
To Huang Yiyi, he wrote, "Okay, Miss Huang. Travel safely. Don’t rush the resignation procedures; just follow the company’s process."
To Sun Yu, he sent, "Got it. No rush. Just take care of things in Modu first."
After replying, Chen Lin put his phone back in his pocket and looked around the excessively empty office space, silently making calculations in his mind.
’Even if they rush back, there’s not much for them to do right now.’
’The company is just an empty shell at this point. Forget about business; we don’t even have a proper desk.’
’When Huang Yiyi gets back, the most she can do is process her own and Sun Yu’s onboarding paperwork. After that, they’ll just be on standby.’
Before they could officially start operations, there was a more important, more central matter to resolve: financing.
’I have to sit down with the university and President Peng as soon as possible to finalize the three-party investment agreement.’
Only after these two injections of capital would the company truly have the funds to get started.
Thinking of funds, Chen Lin’s mind inevitably turned to his system.
He was a little curious. Once the new company received investments from these two parties, the asset figure in "Little Financial Planner" would surely take a massive leap.
However, Chen Lin also had a question in his mind.
’For company equity obtained through a technology-for-shares deal like this, how will "Little Financial Planner" value it? Will it be based on the registered capital, or on the latest market valuation?’
The system’s interface offered no clear explanation for these questions. He would probably have to wait until the funds arrived to see how the numbers actually changed.
Chen Lin shook his head, pushing these unanswerable thoughts from his mind.
The top priority was still to get the investment agreement sorted out.
He made up his mind. As soon as Huang Yiyi returned next Monday, he would immediately contact Principal Chang and President Peng to officially begin the three-way talks.
Although Principal Chang had previously stated that the university’s investment was more of a symbolic gesture of support, mainly intended to create a deep bond between him and Yannan University.
But when it came to hard cash and equity distribution, Chen Lin still felt he would be much more at ease with a professional like Huang Yiyi, who was well-versed in law and finance, by his side.
...
...
「August 11th, Monday, 10:00 AM. School of Mathematics Building.」
In Professor Gu Ming’s office, the air conditioner was WHOOSHING out cold air, completely sealing off the scorching heat wave from outside.
He wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses and sat ramrod straight, his eyes meticulously focused on the densely packed document on his computer screen.
It was the first draft of Chen Lin’s paper.
He had invested a lot of time over the past few days into revising this paper.
The more he revised it, the more complicated he felt.
On the one hand, from the perspective of proper academic writing, the paper was full of flaws.
The phrasing was full of colloquialisms, the logical transitions between paragraphs were incredibly clumsy, and the formatting was completely arbitrary. It showed none of the rigorous structure an academic paper should have.
There were so many amateur mistakes that Gu Ming, a perfectionist, couldn’t help but want to slam his fist on the table.
But on the other hand, whenever he focused his attention on the core mathematical content of the paper—on the tightly reasoned, irrefutable calculations and proofs—he couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe and admiration.
