War God Long Ao

Long Ao knew exactly what the Snake Emperor was thinking.

'The Snake Emperor is just too impatient,' Long Ao thought with a helpless inner smile. 'Too desperate to prove himself to Piaomiao Palace.'

Even though he knew this would end badly for the Snake Emperor, Long Ao still nodded in agreement.

"You'll be the vanguard, Snake Emperor. Remember: don't be reckless."

"Understood, Sect Leader! Just you watch, I'll bring back good news."

As the Snake Emperor turned and left, no one looked pleased. Ordinarily, no one would have said a thing. But now, the Ghost King stepped forward. "Sect Leader," he said, "this is a terrible idea."

"Uncle Ao, what do you mean?"

"Sect Leader, the Snake Emperor's desperation to prove himself has warped his judgment. I'm worried something will happen if he leads the vanguard against the three major powers."

Ever since Ao Xue's secret had been revealed, Ao Tian had become a different person. Long Ao was very gratified by this.

Of course, Long Ao knew what everyone was worried about. But things had already reached this point. 'Can I really stop the Snake Emperor now?'

Regardless, the Snake Emperor was Snake Princess's own brother. He had to give him a certain amount of face, if not for his own sake, then for hers.

And so, the Snake Emperor led the Corpse Slave Army, pressing the attack relentlessly and gradually driving the three major powers out of the Celestial State.

According to Long Ao's previous orders, the Snake Emperor was supposed to retreat to the Sect as soon as the three major powers were driven out of the Celestial State. From then on, the Dragon Sect would simply defend the Celestial State, watch the ensuing conflict from the sidelines, and finally reap the rewards.

But what happened instead?

The Snake Emperor completely ignored Long Ao's orders and charged out with the Corpse Slave Army on his own authority. Now, if anything were to happen to him, the Dragon Sect would be too far away to help.

"Sect Leader, the Snake Emperor led the Corpse Slave Army in pursuit of the three major powers after they left the Celestial State. He carelessly fell into their trap and is now besieged on White Spirit Mountain."

Long Ao cursed inwardly. The Snake Emperor had been too eager to prove himself and had ultimately fallen into the three major powers' trap. It was impossible to know if he was even still alive.

Snake Princess's expression was also grim. She felt completely helpless when it came to her older brother. Long Ao had gone out of his way to give him a chance, and now look what happened. He had failed before his mission could even truly begin, and now no one knew if he was dead or alive.

No one dared to speak, all of them silently awaiting the Sect Leader's decision.

'Should we ignore him? Or rescue him?'

"I will resolve this myself."

Everyone was stunned to hear this, but before they could even react, Long Ao had already risen and left the room.

Everyone looked at each other, seeing the helplessness mirrored in their eyes. Snake Princess, in particular, let out a deep, internal sigh and headed toward the rear of the mountain.

Long Ao was just about to lead the Corpse Slave Army to rescue the Snake Emperor when Snake Princess slowly walked over, her face a mask of guilt and helplessness.

Before Snake Princess could speak, Long Ao said, "There's no need to say anything. For the Sect's sake and for personal reasons, I have to save the Snake Emperor. But after this, he will not get another chance. I hope you can understand."

"I understand. My brother was too eager to prove himself to Piaomiao Palace, and he's dragged the Sect into this mess. On his behalf, I apologize to the Sect."

In truth, Long Ao was quite unhappy. Eighty percent of the reason he had entrusted the Snake Emperor with so much authority was out of consideration for Dugu Bai and Snake Princess. Snake Princess was no fool. Of course she understood the meaning behind Long Ao's words.

Without another word, Long Ao immediately got up and set off for White Spirit Mountain. He had originally planned to take the remaining Corpse Slave Army with him, but after thinking it over, he ultimately decided against it.

The reason was simple. If he took the Corpse Slave Army, and the three major powers used it as a chance to lure the tiger from the mountain, wouldn't the Sect be in grave danger?
