War God Long Ao

Chapter 498: Stripping the Inheritance

Long Ao’s Divine Dragon Arm was fused with Heaven and Earth’s Momentum, and he held nothing back with each punch.

His fists moved like lightning. In just a few seconds, he had thrown hundreds of punches, pummelling Shanggong Yuan until he screamed incessantly.

"Enough."

Although he was extremely reluctant to stop, Long Ao didn’t continue the assault now that the Prince had spoken. He grudgingly backed away.

If Shanggong Yuan had been at the Divine Dao Realm, Long Ao would never have attacked; he knew his own limits.

But Shanggong Yuan’s current situation was completely different. With his Realm forcibly suppressed by the Prince, Long Ao feared no one at the same Level.

"Long Ao, I’m going to kill you."

"If not for my respect for the Prince, I’d kill you right here and now."

Hearing that icy voice, Shanggong Yuan shivered for some reason. He wanted to say something, but ultimately held his tongue.

"Shanggong Yuan, the victor is king and the loser is the bandit. Since you’ve lost, you must accept it."

"I know."

Of course, he wasn’t convinced in the slightest. ’If the Prince hadn’t forcibly suppressed my Realm,’ Shanggong Yuan thought, ’how could a piddling little brat like Long Ao possibly be my match?’

But the Prince was clearly favoring Long Ao. Shanggong Yuan wasn’t a fool; how could he fail to see it?

He was forced to suffer in silence, able only to curse inwardly.

"Shanggong Yuan, I will handle this matter later. For now, go and rest."

As he spoke, regardless of whether Shanggong Yuan was willing, a stream of energy shot out from the Prince and enveloped him. Just like that, Shanggong Yuan vanished into thin air.

"Old Ancestor."

"Hm? You’ve already guessed?"

The Prince was quite surprised. He never imagined the young man before him would have already guessed his identity, as he hadn’t yet had a chance to reveal it.

Nodding, Long Ao said with a wry smile, "I can clearly sense a bloodline connection between us. Besides, Old Ancestor, you were clearly favoring me. Otherwise, Shanggong Yuan would have already killed me."

"Hahahaha, good, good, good."

Saying the word "good" three times, the Prince’s face was filled with admiration.

"That’s right. I am Long Batian."

’Just as I thought.’ Even though Long Ao had already guessed the Prince’s true identity, he was still shocked. According to his grandfather, the Old Ancestor had already Fallen, and his own brother had received the Old Ancestor’s inheritance. But now?

Not only was his Old Ancestor standing before him, alive and well, but he was also a Celestial Divine Martial Artist. What in the world was going on?

"Old Ancestor, to be honest, not long ago, Grandfather passed your Great Emperor Inheritance on to my brother. Why are you here?"

Long Ao couldn’t make sense of it, but Long Batian simply smiled and nodded. "The family’s Great Emperor Inheritance isn’t mine," he explained. "It’s merely an inheritance I forcibly stripped from an enemy I killed long ago."

Hearing his ancestor’s words, Long Ao swallowed hard. ’How incredible!’ he thought. ’To be able to strip the inheritance from a Great Emperor Martial Artist... I doubt even a Divine Dao Martial Artist could accomplish that.’

The principle of inheritances was simple: unless the owner was willing, it was impossible to strip it away by force.

"In any case, I am relieved that you didn’t receive the Great Emperor Inheritance. Ao’Er, you are the Long Family’s most promising disciple. You must, no matter what, break through to the Supreme Divine Dao."

’Supreme Divine Dao?’

’Is that the same as the Celestial Divine Realm?’

Long Batian didn’t elaborate, and Long Ao didn’t press the issue. He knew that if his ancestor wanted to tell him, he would have done so without being asked. And if he didn’t want to, nothing would make him speak.

"Ao’Er, tell me, what is the family’s current situation?"

Long Ao held a great deal of admiration for the ancestor before him.

According to his grandfather, Old Ancestor Long Batian was a peerless genius, the likes of which hadn’t been seen in ten thousand years. He had simply been too brilliant, making the main branch of the Long Clan so jealous of his talent that they ultimately caused his death.

Long Ao held nothing back from his ancestor, explaining the family’s current situation in great detail.

After listening, Long Batian seemed quite satisfied and not the least bit worried. He said, "You can act boldly and without worry. Although I cannot leave this mountain peak, I can guarantee the family’s safety. Ao’Er, you are currently only at the Semi-Saint Realm. Your most urgent task is singular: increase your strength as quickly as possible."

Before Long Ao could respond, Long Batian continued, "Ao’Er, in this vast world, experts are as numerous as clouds in the sky. What you’ve seen so far is merely the tip of the iceberg. You must increase your strength as quickly as possible and rapidly expand the family’s influence."

Long Ao nodded. Of course, he understood what his ancestor was saying.

In this vast and sprawling world, experts were everywhere.

The Void Saint Realm, the Great Emperor Realm, the Divine Dao Realm... Long Ao knew he still had a very long road ahead of him.

"Old Ancestor, I will definitely achieve it."

"Good. I believe in you. The reason I stopped you from killing Shanggong Yuan earlier is that I’m preparing to forcibly strip him of his Divine Dao Inheritance to pass down. However, Ao’Er, I will not be giving Shanggong Yuan’s Divine Dao Inheritance to that friend of yours."

Long Ao had already guessed as much. His ancestor prioritized the family above all else; he would rather find an unsuitable disciple within the family to receive the Divine Dao Inheritance than give it to an outsider.

Long Ao knew that he trusted Kuang Ao as a brother, but others did not think the same way, especially his ancestor.

Long Ao understood his ancestor’s concerns perfectly. If Kuang Ao were to accept the inheritance and reach the Divine Dao, but then decided to leave the family, wouldn’t the family suffer a devastating double loss?

For this reason, Long Ao didn’t blame his ancestor. He knew that anyone would do the same in his position. For the sake of the family, the decision was perfectly understandable.

"Old Ancestor, who are you planning to give the Divine Dao Inheritance to?"

"We’ll discuss that later. First, I must strip Shanggong Yuan of his Divine Dao Inheritance. It may seem simple, but it’s actually quite difficult. It will take a few months at a minimum, and at most, several years."

Long Ao nodded. Although he didn’t know exactly how difficult it was to strip an inheritance, he could well imagine. Just then, Long Batian suddenly said, "Ao’Er, I will now impart the art of stripping inheritances to you. Remember, if you want the family to truly flourish, you must first raise the strength of every single member."

’The art of stripping inheritances...’ Long Ao had never imagined his ancestor would pass such a skill on to him. It would be a lie to say he wasn’t ecstatic. After all, once he learned this art, he would be able to forcibly strip inheritances in addition to refining Soul Slaves and Corpse Slaves. At that rate, the family would develop rapidly, and they could begin preparing to establish their presence in the main Long Clan.

(PS: Congratulations to "Shanggong Yuan" for being promoted to Hall Master, the first one for this book! I hope we’ll see our first Dharma Protector, Elder, Sect Leader, and Grandmaster soon. Xiaojiu is eagerly awaiting the birth of our first Alliance Leader. When that day comes, I’ll offer up my backside, hehe.)
