War God Long Ao

The Kyushu Spirit Realm was home to the Four Great Forces: Eastern Emperor City, the West Third Level Long Family, the Southern Netherworld Mansion, and the North Piaomiao Palace.

Whether by design or not, each of the Four Great Forces occupied two states, for a total of eight. The ninth state, the Celestial State, was given to the Dragon Sect.

The Ghost King Sect was now a sect in name only, so Kyushu had been completely carved up by the Four Great Forces and the Dragon Sect.

The Four Great Forces seemed satisfied with this outcome. Everyone else also assumed that with this concession, the Dragon Sect would be content. After all, if the Four Great Forces were to launch an all-out attack, it was uncertain whether the Dragon Sect could withstand it.

But just then, the Dragon Sect suddenly attacked the other states of Kyushu. Their first target was the two states controlled by the Imperial City.

Everyone was completely baffled. They had no idea why Long Ao was doing this. Did he really think the Dragon Sect could take on the Four Great Forces?

This was utterly intolerable. It was one thing to be pushed, but this was a step too far—an insult that could not be borne.

No matter how patient the Four Great Forces were, they couldn’t possibly tolerate Long Ao’s actions. However, among them, the Netherworld Mansion and Piaomiao Palace ultimately decided to hold back. ’Long Ao’s targets are only the Imperial City and the Long Family,’ the two powers reasoned. ’There’s no need for us to get involved.’

Watching the fight from the sidelines was the best strategy.

The Imperial City and the Third Level Long Family hadn’t wanted to keep fighting Long Ao either, since neither side would gain anything from it.

That was precisely why the Imperial City and the Third Level Long Family had ceded the Celestial State.

But the two powers never imagined that Long Ao would be so ungrateful as to take the initiative and attack them.

If they tolerated even this, the Imperial City and the Third Level Long Family would become the laughingstock of the world. For their dignity, for their pride, this battle was inevitable.

And so, the Imperial City and the Third Level Long Family joined forces to deal with Long Ao.

Long Ao, however, showed not the slightest fear. He directly dispatched the Corpse Slave Army. Since the Corpse Slaves had Undying Bodies, the Dragon Sect stood to lose nothing even in defeat.

When the battle first began, many people were pessimistic about the Dragon Sect’s chances. Even the Imperial City and the Third Level Long Family boasted that they would drive the Dragon Sect back to the Celestial State within three days, ensuring they could never recover.

If the Imperial City and the Third Level Long Family of the past had made such a claim, everyone would have believed them without a doubt. But now...

Ever since the Imperial City and the Third Level Long Family had suffered repeated defeats, no one believed them anymore. Instead, they eagerly awaited Long Ao’s counterattack. Long Ao always managed to surprise them, severely crippling the Four Great Forces time and again, to the point where they had no choice but to back down and cede the Celestial State.

Would the Four Great Forces have yielded to an ordinary Sect?

It had to be admitted that the Dragon Sect was truly formidable. In just a few short months, it had grown strong enough to contend with the Four Great Forces.

The Imperial City and the Third Level Long Family were full of confidence, but soon after the fighting began—in less than three hours—they were already being beaten back steadily by the Dragon Sect.

Everyone was shocked by this outcome, but also incredibly excited. Long Ao, a legendary figure, had once again proven the might of the Dragon Sect and shown how an underdog could make a glorious comeback.

After successfully repelling the Imperial City and the Third Level Long Family, the Dragon Sect didn’t pause for a moment. They continued to press their attack with even greater force.

The Imperial City and the Third Level Long Family were extremely frustrated. They had no idea where the Dragon Sect had acquired such a powerful Undying Team. If this continued, could they even keep up the fight?

「Kyushu Spirit Realm, Third Level Long Family Headquarters.」

「The Main Hall.」

Long Mowen and Long Yan’s expressions were incredibly grim. They too had never imagined that Long Ao would choose to attack proactively, leaving them helpless and in constant retreat. If this continued, it was only a matter of time before they were defeated by the Dragon Sect.

"Elder, have you found anything?"

"Sect Leader, we have. But we still can’t figure out what this Undead Army dispatched by the Dragon Sect is. All we know is, they just don’t die."

Long Mowen cursed inwardly. Even now, he had no idea how Long Ao had managed it. To find such a powerful Undead Army... they were simply invincible.

"Sect Leader, forgive my bluntness, but we can no longer stop Long Ao’s rise. Piaomiao Palace and Netherworld Mansion have already withdrawn from Kyushu. Their intentions are simple: they want us and the Dragon Sect to destroy each other so they can swoop in and reap the rewards."

Long Mowen nodded. He was well aware of what the Elder said. ’But should the Third Level Long Family really withdraw from Kyushu too?’

For so many years, the Four Great Forces had schemed and fought, both openly and in secret, all for supremacy over Kyushu. This time, before the Four Great Forces could even begin their own war, the Dragon Sect had appeared out of nowhere, armed with an Undead Army.

If the Four Great Forces had resisted together, they wouldn’t have lost. But the problem now was that Piaomiao Palace and Netherworld Mansion had withdrawn from Kyushu, effectively ceding their four states to Long Ao.

"Sect Leader, why don’t we cede Kyushu to Long Ao for now? At worst, we can just control the Kyushu Domain."

Waving his hand, Long Mowen suddenly asked, "Do you know why the Four Great Forces have been trying to control the Ordinary Spirit Realm and become its hegemon for all these years?"

Long Yan shook his head. He truly didn’t know the reason.

"There’s something you don’t know, Elder. This is the greatest secret of the Four Great Forces. Apart from the Sect Leaders and a handful of top Elders, no one else is aware of it."

Hearing the Sect Leader’s words, Long Yan grew even more curious, wondering what secret the Ordinary Spirit Realm could possibly hold.

"Legend has it that a War of the Gods once took place in the Ordinary Spirit Realm. Countless Divine Dao Martial Artists have Fallen there. I trust you are not unfamiliar with the term ’Divine Dao Martial Artist’, are you, Elder?"

’Divine Dao Martial Artists?’

Long Yan was stunned to hear the Sect Leader mention Divine Dao Martial Artists. Of course he was familiar with them. As the Peak existences between Heaven and Earth, every Divine Dao Martial Artist was incomparably powerful, capable of shaking the sun and moon with their might.

A War of the Gods... Long Yan had truly never heard of this. Now he finally understood why the Four Great Forces were so determined to monopolize the Ordinary Spirit Realm.

The Sect Leader didn’t need to say more; Long Yan already understood the reason. ’If I’m not mistaken,’ he thought, ’the Four Great Forces must want to seize the legacies of the gods. Long Yan felt a surge of excitement and said, "Sect Leader, if that’s the case, then no matter what happens, we cannot surrender the Ordinary Spirit Realm."

Waving his hand, Long Mowen spoke in a grave tone, "Piaomiao Palace and Netherworld Mansion have already withdrawn from Kyushu. We will withdraw as well. The War of the Gods... the places where the Divine Dao Martial Artists have Fallen back then... no one has ever been able to find them. We will retreat for now and observe the Dragon Sect’s true strength."
