War God Long Ao

Chapter 383: Kneel Down and Sing 'Conquer

"What's going on?"

The five men asked coldly, not even glancing at Long Ao and Wen Lan.

Seeing the five men, Wen Lan's expression changed. She frantically tried to signal Long Ao with her eyes. After all, in the City of Sin, aside from the Five Great Emperors, the most formidable figures were the city guards.

But Long Ao acted as if he saw nothing, making Wen Lan so anxious she was about to explode.

"Captain Situ, this person is ignoring the City of Sin's rules. He's refusing to hand over any Beast Pills but still wants to enter the city."

"Oh?"

Situ Ren seemed quite surprised. He never imagined someone would dare cause trouble in the City of Sin. What kind of place was this? It was a place where "dog-eat-dog" was an understatement. Killing someone here was as easy as crushing an ant.

"If you won't hand over the Beast Pills, then get out. The City of Sin doesn't welcome you."

Domineering. This was the overbearing nature of the City of Sin's guards. Not only were they backed by the Five Great Emperors, but their own strength was immense. That was the source of their confidence.

"Do you own the City of Sin?"

"Little Long."

He waved his hand to stop Wen Lan from trying to talk him down. 'Things have already come to this. I can't back down now. If I do, not only will I be unable to leave the City of Sin, but they'll kick me while I'm down.'

Staring at the young man before them, the five city guards suddenly burst out laughing as if they had just heard the most ridiculous thing in the world. They found it hard to believe that someone would actually dare to cause trouble in the City of Sin, especially when he was clearly just a Celestial Venerable Martial Artist.

A Celestial Venerable?

A Celestial Venerable Martial Artist might be considered a powerful figure outside, but in the City of Sin, they were a dime a dozen.

What's more, all five guards were genuine Great Venerable Martial Artists. For a Celestial Venerable to pick a fight with them—wasn't that just courting death?

"Kid, the City of Sin has explicit rules that allow us guards to execute you on the spot. But seeing as you just arrived, I'll spare you this once. Get on your knees, kowtow, and admit you were wrong."

The five men's eyes were filled with mockery and contempt. Their goal was simple: to humiliate Long Ao.

If this had happened in the outside world, a large crowd would surely have gathered to watch the show. But in the City of Sin, such scenes were apparently commonplace, and only a few stragglers gathered around.

"Have you guys ever heard a song of conquest?"

Conquest?

Of course, the five guards had never heard of this "conquest" Long Ao was talking about. Before they could speak, Long Ao continued, "I'll give you five an opportunity. Kneel, sing of your conquest, and maybe I'll spare you."

Back when Long Ao was in Red Fire Town, his Cultivation had stagnated. He'd fallen from a genius to a waste, enduring endless humiliation. After his daily Cultivation, he would often go sit in the market. It was during that time that he overheard many creative insults, as well as this so-called song of "conquest."

Although the five men didn't know how to sing "Conquest," they understood what the word meant. For that very reason, their faces contorted with rage.

Situ Ren snorted coldly and sneered, "Very good. It seems the City of Sin hasn't been tidied up in a long time. It's about time for a proper lesson."

"Brother Situ, Little Long just misspoke. He's new to the City of Sin and doesn't know anything. How about you do me a favor and let him go this time, okay?"

Wen Lan's voice was exceptionally gentle, with a hint of flirtatious charm that made Situ Ren chuckle. He stared at her lecherously. It was common knowledge that although Wen Lan was a Great Venerable Martial Artist, Situ Ren came from a bandit background and was naturally lecherous.

While Wen Lan wasn't a peerless beauty, she possessed a seductive allure that few men could resist.

Heh heh. Situ Ren gave a lewd grin and said, "Alright, for your sake, I'll let the kid go for now. But he still owes the Beast Pills. Not a single one can be missing. Otherwise..."

Situ Ren didn't finish his sentence, but his meaning was crystal clear.

"I have things to attend to right now. You can come find me later." He turned to Long Ao. "And you, kid, be smart about it. This is the City of Sin, not the outside world."

Watching the five men walk away, Long Ao's gaze grew even colder. If Wen Lan hadn't been holding him back, he likely would have already made a move.

"Little Long, let me give you some advice. This is the City of Sin. You can't afford to provoke the city guards. If you don't have any pressing business here, I'd advise you to leave the city as soon as possible."

Long Ao suddenly felt a sense of goodwill toward Wen Lan. Regardless of what kind of person she was, she had just helped him out of a tight spot.

"Wen Lan, thank you for that, but you didn't have to do it."

Waving her hand, Wen Lan said with a wry smile, "Little Long, I'm not like you. I've been in the City of Sin for a full ten years. If I hadn't relied on my looks, I believe I would have been dead long ago."

One had to admit, Wen Lan was remarkably frank.

Looking at Wen Lan's expression of resignation, Long Ao sighed inwardly. He understood her difficult circumstances all too well.

'A Celestial Venerable is nothing in the City of Sin. Can a woman survive and live well here relying on strength alone?'

"Alright, Little Long, you'll have to look out for yourself. This is all I can do to help."

Long Ao seemed to want to say something, but in the end, he held his tongue.

Watching Wen Lan's retreating figure, Long Ao turned to the two guards, his eyes cold. "Ten Beast Pills," he said, his voice like ice. "Take them or leave them. As for anything else, you'd best shut your mouths."

"Hmph, kid, don't act all high and mighty with us. Why didn't you act so tough just now? Hmph."

SLAP! SLAP!

Without giving the two any chance to react, Long Ao dealt each of them a vicious slap across the face. By the time they recovered, he was already walking away.

"The next time I see you, you won't be as lucky as you were today."

The two men clutched their faces, absolutely furious. In all these years, no one had ever dared to cause trouble in the City of Sin and openly slap them. Even if they didn't respect the guards, they should at least show some respect for the Five Great Emperors!

"Long Ao, you just wait! I'll make sure you die a miserable death!"

"Yeah, let's go find our big brother. I refuse to believe a mere Celestial Venerable can be that powerful."

Of course, the two of them didn't dare go looking for trouble with Long Ao themselves. After all, they were only Unity Martial Artists. But they had a big brother, an incredibly formidable Great Venerable Martial Artist. The two exchanged a look and immediately turned to leave.

Long Ao's expression was grim. He hadn't even officially entered the City of Sin, yet he had already witnessed its law of survival. In the end, it was a dog-eat-dog world. The weak were beaten into submission, and those who dared to resist were killed on the spot. This was the City of Sin.

A timid Martial Artist with little strength would never survive here. 'The City of Sin... the Five Great Emperors...'
