War God Long Ao

Chapter 370: Array Inheritance

"Who's there?"

Startled by the sudden voice, Long Ao jumped.

He immediately stopped his attack on the Qilin Emperor's coffin and scanned his surroundings warily.

Long Ao noticed that the army of skeletons had completely vanished. All that remained was a mass of emerald-green light sitting in the center of the room, in the shape of a person.

"Who are you?"

"You've entered my territory and you're asking who I am? How interesting."

Long Ao was shocked. He wasn't an idiot; he understood the implication and blurted out, "You're the Heaven-Burning Emperor?"

The ghostly light laughed heartily, seeming quite pleased. It nodded and said, "That's right. I am indeed the Heaven-Burning Emperor. You truly surprise me. Not only did you manage to make it this far, but you're also a Dragon Martial Artist. Excellent, excellent."

Knowing the entity's identity, Long Ao actually calmed down. He recalled Long Qiang to the Dragon Seal Space, approached the ghostly light, and said, "Senior, I came to the Kyushu Secret Realm to seek a breakthrough. I found this place by accident. If I have offended you in any way, I ask for your forgiveness."

Waving a hand, the Heaven-Burning Emperor said with a laugh, "Since you were able to come here, it must be fate. My time is almost up, and my soul won't last much longer. Therefore, I have a favor to ask of you."

Long Ao didn't agree immediately. He still didn't know what the Heaven-Burning Emperor wanted him to do.

The Heaven-Burning Emperor naturally understood his hesitation but didn't point it out.

"It's a simple matter. Back when I sealed the Qilin Emperor, I used my Life Essence Blood. It's almost impossible for me to pass on my full inheritance to you now, but I do have a Martial Art. Would you like to learn it?"

'Damn.'

So that was it. Long Ao cursed inwardly.

Nodding, Long Ao didn't bother to pretend, saying, "Of course I want to learn."

Long Ao was no fool. As a Sealed Titled Emperor, the Heaven-Burning Emperor's Martial Arts had to be extraordinary. It would be a damn lie to say he wasn't interested. Long Ao didn't consider himself the type of person who wouldn't admit what he wanted.

The Heaven-Burning Emperor nodded in appreciation. "This Martial Art is called the Heaven-Burning Array Technique. It is an Array manual I acquired long ago. After many years of my own research, I have recorded all my insights within it."

'An Array Master?'

Looking at the Heaven-Burning Emperor before him, Long Ao never would have imagined that he was actually an Array Master.

A Great Emperor who was an Array Master.

Long Ao was well aware of what Array Masters were capable of. Back then, his Sect had relied on the Heaven and Earth Array to annihilate a Great Venerable Martial Artist. If he could become an Array Master, wouldn't his power grow exponentially?

He grew excited just thinking about it, but he didn't let his eagerness show.

"Kid, you should know what being an Array Master means. While my strength wasn't the greatest in the world, I can tell you with certainty that I am the world's most powerful Array Master."

"Senior, are you saying you want to pass on your Array legacy to me?"

"That's right."

"Senior, to be honest, I'd also love to become an Array Master. But from what I've heard, it's incredibly difficult. The required talent surpasses even that of a Martial Artist. I'm not sure if I even have what it takes to become one."

The temptation was irresistible, and Long Ao was truly unwilling to give up the opportunity.

"Kid, you don't need to worry about that. Others might not be able to do it, but it's no challenge for me. In a moment, I will pass on the Array source I've cultivated over so many years. As long as you refine it slowly and your innate talent isn't too poor, I believe you can definitely become an Array Master. As for how far you'll go, that will depend on your own destiny."

'Arrays can be inherited too?'

This was the first time Long Ao had ever heard of such a thing. In any case, being able to become an Array Master was a joyous prospect.

Long Ao could already imagine it. If he could become a powerful Array Master, he could at the very least set up a few more Arrays to protect his family and Sect. Then, he could finally breathe a sigh of relief, no longer having to worry about them day in and day out.

"Kid, if you receive my inheritance, you will be considered my disciple. Are you willing?"

Without the slightest hesitation, Long Ao nodded, knelt, and kowtowed, crying out, "Master."

Long Ao wasn't a fool. He knew there was no such thing as a free lunch in this world. Why would someone just hand over their Array legacy for no reason? Thus, he wasn't the least bit surprised. At most, he would have to become a disciple.

"I still don't know your name."

"Long Ao."

"You're a disciple of the Long Clan. If I'm not mistaken, you must be from a clan of the Third Level or above, correct?"

Shaking his head, Long Ao said helplessly, "My family was originally just at the Ninth Level. We've only recently advanced to a Sixth Level Clan."

Long Ao knew what his master meant. It was common knowledge that the Long Clan had a strict rule: only members of the Long Family from the Third Level and above were permitted to enter Dragon Valley to find a Dragon Companion and become a Dragon Martial Artist.

This was precisely why the Heaven-Burning Emperor was so surprised. He nodded in admiration and said, "Very good. Your talent is the best I've ever seen. Since you have now become my disciple, you must do one thing for me."

Long Ao's heart sank, but things had already progressed to this point. He could only nod and agree. "Master, please speak."

"I was blind back then. I took in a traitor who caused the destruction of my physical body. Therefore, you must help me clean up the Sect."

'A traitor? Clean up the Sect?'

"Long Ao, this traitor's name is Ye Wushuang. He inherited seventy percent of my Array essence. But with your talent, once you receive my Array legacy, your skill in Arrays will surely surpass his in a decade or two, perhaps even just a few years. When that time comes, you must help your master clean up the Sect."

So that was it.

Long Ao also despised traitors who betrayed their masters and ancestors. Moreover, he had just accepted the Heaven-Burning Emperor as his master, so this was his inescapable duty. He nodded and said, "Rest assured, Master. I will definitely help you clean up the Sect."

"You must be careful. This traitor is very cunning. If I'm not mistaken, he should already be a Sealed Titled Emperor by now. Your Cultivation is still very low. If I hadn't used my Life Essence Blood back then and could have passed on my full inheritance to you, I believe you could have contended with him in three years at most. *Sigh*."

Long Ao's heart skipped a beat. A Sealed Titled Emperor wasn't some cabbage you could just pick up at the market. Long Ao knew that with his current strength, reaching the Great Emperor Realm, let alone becoming a Sealed Titled Emperor, was incredibly difficult. Even with the inheritance, he might not be able to break through to the Sealed Titled Emperor Realm within three years.

But Long Ao had already made up his mind. His master's revenge had to be taken. Ye Wushuang had to be killed. Cleaning up the Sect was a must.

"However, you have Arrays. If your Arrays are stronger than his, and you use the power of your Arrays to clean up the Sect, your master will be even happier."
