Chapter 368: Blood Sea Devouring
The black passage was deep and serene, giving off a strange, eerie aura.
Soon, Long Ao came to a black-and-white bridge that was over ten meters long.
"Master, be careful of this Yama Bridge."
'Yama Bridge?'
Long Ao didn't hesitate. Things had already reached this point, so he simply stepped forward and onto the Yama Bridge.
The moment Long Ao stepped fully onto the Yama Bridge, he was shocked to find the scenery around him change in an instant. 'Is this an illusion?'
He didn't dare let his guard down. Following Long Fu's instructions, Long Ao immediately released his powerful Heaven and Earth's Momentum to forcibly suppress the illusion. Just as he expected, the Heaven and Earth's Momentum was the bane of illusions; they vanished without a trace in the blink of an eye.
Heaving a long sigh of relief, Long Ao knew that if it weren't for Long Fu and his Heaven and Earth's Momentum, he would have died just moments ago.
It was hard to imagine an ordinary Martial Artist even making it across the Yama Bridge.
Steeling himself, Long Ao continued forward. Crossing that one bridge had been like facing a master, a series of trials one after another. It took him a full ten minutes to finally, barely, make it across the Yama Bridge.
After crossing the bridge, Long Ao stepped into a massive cave. A sky full of stars stretched out before him, dazzling to behold.
Long Ao was astonished. He had no idea how the Heaven-Burning Emperor had managed such a feat. Just as he was about to venture deeper to investigate, dozens of figures suddenly shot toward him from all directions.
Long Ao jumped in surprise, and before he could even react, the skeletons were already attacking him.
'Revived skeletons?'
If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he wouldn't have believed it. Then again, Long Ao was already accustomed to such things. The Soul Slaves and Corpse Slaves refined by Long Fu were, in essence, the same kind of being.
Not daring to let his guard down, Long Ao lashed out with his fists. With the protection of his Desolate Tyrant Body, he simply ignored the surrounding skeletons' attacks.
He had to admit, the Desolate Tyrant Body was truly formidable. As long as he wasn't facing a Realm King or a Realm Emperor, he was confident he could even withstand a few blows from a Great Venerable.
This was the Desolate Tyrant Body.
Long Ao chose to use his Desolate Sacred Body to tank the skeletons' attacks while smashing them with his Divine Dragon Arm and Nether Tiger Arm. Unlike Corpse Slaves and Soul Slaves, these skeletons did not possess an Undying Body. With the formidable power of his arms, he smashed one down for every one that came, and a pair for every pair that appeared.
But to Long Ao's horror, the skeletons were like an army, emerging in a ceaseless tide. He had no idea where they were coming from.
Long Ao knew that even though he could ignore their attacks and shatter them with his Divine Dragon Arm and Nether Tiger Arm, this was not a sustainable strategy. Who knew how many skeletons there were? He would probably die of exhaustion before he could destroy them all.
'Am I really going to die of exhaustion here?'
Of course, Long Ao was not resigned to that fate. He stopped using his Divine Dragon Arm and Nether Tiger Arm. No matter how powerful his arms were, it was impossible to smash every skeleton. If he kept going, there was only one outcome: he would die from exhaustion.
Blood-Drinking Mad Saber! Long Ao unleashed a slash, infusing it with his Heaven and Earth's Momentum and Thunder Tribulation Power.
He had assumed that the Thunder Tribulation Power and Heaven and Earth's Momentum would be the skeletons' bane, but to his surprise, neither power had much of an effect. The only advantage of the Blood-Drinking Mad Saber was its wider attack range compared to his fists.
Long Ao knew full well that neither his arms nor his Blood-Drinking Mad Saber were enough to deal with this terrifying horde of skeletons; it was like trying to put out a forest fire with a cup of water. He had to find a better solution. The longer this dragged on, the more it would work against him.
'What on earth should I do?'
The entire cave was a suffocating mass of black. Skeletons swarmed from all directions, an endless, frenzied tide of them. With their dark, glowing eyes, they were just like the walking dead.
Gradually, Long Ao discovered something else. The skeletons were emitting a faint, strange aura. If you weren't careful, it would seep into your body and begin to corrode your soul.
He was shocked. He realized that the aura was impossible to detect unless one focused on it intently.
This aura was almost identical to the Soul-Sealing Seal, only not nearly as potent.
Letting down his guard was not an option. Long Ao fought back against the skeletons with all his strength. Fortunately, while numerous, the individual skeletons were not very powerful. At his current level, lasting a few hours, or even a day or two, would be almost like child's play.
If this was the extent of their numbers, Long Ao wouldn't have been worried at all. The problem was that they were emerging endlessly, an unknown quantity. All he could see was a dense black mass, a mountain of bodies and a sea of bones. The sight alone was enough to make his skin crawl.
But it was in Long Ao's nature to never admit defeat. Anyone else in his shoes would have likely given up long ago.
Just then, a Dragon's Roar resounded, echoing throughout the entire cave.
Long Ao knew Long Qiang was about to make a move. 'But with so many of them,' he wondered, 'will it even help?'
Before Long Ao could say a word, Long Qiang's massive form appeared in mid-air. At the same time, patches of blood-red clouds began to materialize around his body.
'The Endless Blood Sea Map?'
Long Ao finally understood what Long Qiang was planning. He and Ao Xue had once stumbled upon the ultimate treasure of the Ghost King Sect, the Endless Blood Sea Map. Ao Xue had been unable to claim it, and instead, Long Qiang had forcibly absorbed it.
In all this time, Long Ao had never seen Long Qiang use the Endless Blood Sea Map; he had almost forgotten it existed. Now that Long Qiang was finally about to unleash it, he had no idea what its power would be like.
A terrifying Power of Blood instantly enveloped the entire cave. Shrouded in this power, the skeletons all began to roar madly in what seemed to be great pain. Fear was written on their faces, yet they continued to charge forward like moths to a flame, completely heedless of the danger.
"Xiaoqiang, don't hold back!"
Another Dragon's Roar echoed out. Immediately after, an even more terrifying Power of Blood erupted from Long Qiang. A sea of blood began to devour the skeletons. Its power was absolute; for every one that came, one was annihilated, and for every pair that appeared, a pair was snapped in two.
Ever since devouring the Endless Blood Sea Map, Long Qiang had been unable to successfully complete his Fusion with it. But just a short while ago, aided by a powerful influx of Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi, he had finally finished the process. His timing was perfect. Otherwise, Long Ao's strength alone would never have been enough to eliminate all the skeletons here.
But he still had no idea where the skeletons were coming from. They just kept emerging, one after another, in a seemingly infinite stream. It was an infuriating sight. If this kept up, forget him—even Long Qiang wouldn't be able to last.
