Chapter 278: Drawing the Thunder of Heaven and Earth
Long Ao and An Feng glared at each other.
"I'll show you just how vast the gap is between a Taoist Ancestor and a Venerable."
An Feng's body blurred into motion. Before he even arrived, a terrifying momentum surged forward. But he went out fast and came back even faster, his face a mask of shock and disbelief.
"Heaven and Earth's Momentum?"
With Heaven and Earth's Momentum, Long Ao had no fear of An Feng's oppressive momentum. It was a joke. Unless he was facing another who wielded Heaven and Earth's Momentum, his was the strongest type of momentum there was.
"I'll give you this, you have a discerning eye."
"Long Ao, how did you do it?"
Long Ao knew exactly what An Feng was asking. He sneered, "How I condensed Heaven and Earth's Momentum is none of your business. You're a dog trying to catch mice—a meddling busybody. You must be bored out of your mind."
An Feng's expression grew increasingly grim. He found it hard to believe that a mere Taoist Ancestor could actually condense Heaven and Earth's Momentum.
An Feng was no fool. He knew exactly what it meant for a Taoist Ancestor to have condensed Heaven and Earth's Momentum: achieving Nirvana was a certainty. Realizing this young man was destined to become a supreme expert, An Feng resolved to kill him, no matter the cost, to eliminate this future threat.
"Long Ao, if your Cultivation had broken through to the Void Realm, I would be no match for you. But as it stands now, you should just accept your fate."
With that, An Feng's body blurred into motion once again.
This time, An Feng clearly didn't use his Heaven and Earth's Momentum. Instead, he balled his hands into fists and smashed them viciously toward Long Ao.
Long Ao didn't dare to be the slightest bit careless and threw out both his fists as well. He was also eager to see what would happen when his Divine Dragon Arm and Nether Tiger Arm clashed head-on with a Venerable.
The four fists collided violently, Fist Force scattering in all directions. Long Ao was sent flying by the impact, his body spinning three times in midair before he barely managed to land. This was only because he had managed to dissipate the force in time; otherwise, the consequences would have been unthinkable.
'What terrifying Fist Force.'
Long Ao now understood. At his current Realm, the gap between him and his opponent was simply too vast. This was the difference between a Taoist Ancestor and a Venerable.
Both the Innate Realm and the Transformation Realm used Spiritual Power. Once one's Cultivation broke through to the Void Realm, it would attract the Hundred Tribulations. Upon successfully passing them, the Spiritual Power within the body would transform, becoming Spiritual Essence.
To put it simply, there was a fundamental difference between Spiritual Power and Spiritual Essence.
Although the Divine Dragon Arm and Nether Tiger Arm were powerful, Long Ao was still just a Taoist Ancestor Peak Martial Artist. He possessed Spiritual Power, not Spiritual Essence.
"Long Ao, now you know. A Taoist Ancestor and a Venerable are simply not comparable. Hand over the Blood-Drinking Mad Saber, and I can grant you a quick death."
"An Feng, this man is mine to kill."
Seeing Long Jing, who had been standing still until now, block his path, An Feng's expression changed. He said in a low voice, "Long Jing, stop fooling around. Get out of the way."
An Feng didn't dare to move against the young lady of the Long Family. After all, the Long Family was the hegemon of Red Dragon City, their strength far surpassing that of the An Family. In other words, if the Long Family wished it, they could annihilate the An Family in a matter of minutes.
"No, I must kill this man with my own hands."
His face was as ugly as it could be, but in the end, An Feng could only nod helplessly in agreement. "Fine. I'll leave him to you."
The moment An Feng let his guard down, Long Jing suddenly pulled a small sphere from her clothes and threw it directly at him.
"Let's go, now!"
Long Ao didn't hesitate for a second. The two fled at top speed. An Feng, startled, had braced for some kind of weapon, but a glance revealed it was just an ordinary glass ball.
An Feng didn't give chase immediately. He stood his ground, a cold smirk playing on his lips as he muttered to himself, "Let's see how you plan to escape from the palm of my hand."
Long Ao and Long Jing fled for what felt like an eternity before finally coming to a stop.
Looking around and seeing that An Feng hadn't followed, Long Ao said, panting, "Thanks for your help back there."
"Hmph. Long Ao, don't think that just because I saved you this time, I won't kill you. I was just repaying you for the chicken leg. From now on, if I get the chance, I will still kill you without a moment's hesitation."
Watching Long Jing turn and walk away, Long Ao was completely dumbfounded, left standing there in a daze.
Suddenly, Long Ao laughed. Long Jing really was an incredibly naive girl, one who was clear about her debts and grudges. She would even repay a favor as small as a chicken leg.
Shrugging helplessly, Long Ao now truly understood the power of a Venerable. It was terrifying. No matter how strong his Divine Dragon Arm and Nether Tiger Arm were, the gap between Spiritual Power and Spiritual Essence was an insurmountable chasm.
Long Ao plopped down on the ground and rested for a while, feeling much better. He had just taken a direct hit from An Feng. If not for the innate power of his Divine Dragon Arm and Nether Tiger Arm, which had dissipated half the force, he believed that single punch would have been enough to take his life.
「Inside the Dragon Seal Space.」
"Long Fu, is there any way for me to raise my Cultivation to the Void Hundred Tribulations Realm as quickly as possible?"
Long Ao knew in his heart that unless his Cultivation could break through to the Void Hundred Tribulations Realm and convert his body's Spiritual Power into Spiritual Essence, allowing him to kill An Feng with the help of his Divine Dragon Arm and Nether Tiger Arm, he would be nothing but a lamb to the slaughter.
"Master, there is no such way. I have already used up all the Spirit Stones. Moreover, when a Taoist Ancestor Peak breaks through to the Void Hundred Tribulations, no one can help you. Not even the Desolate Sacred Body can."
"Why is that? Didn't you say that my Desolate Sacred Body could automatically advance as long as it absorbed enough power?"
"That's correct, but Master, I must tell you that the breakthrough from Taoist Ancestor Peak to the Void Hundred Tribulations is completely different."
"How is it different?"
"The Thunder Tribulation you triggered before was not much different from that of an ordinary Martial Artist. But once your Cultivation breaks through to the Void Realm, you will trigger the most powerful of the Hundred Tribulations. And even if the Desolate Sacred Body absorbs enough power, you must still rely on yourself to sense the Hundred Tribulations. No one can do it for you, not even me."
'I see.'
He was a little disappointed. After all, with his current strength, it was impossible for him to be a match for a Venerable.
"Master, if you want to kill a Venerable, you don't necessarily need to rush to break through to the Void Hundred Tribulations Realm. There are other viable methods."
Overjoyed, Long Ao asked impatiently, "Long Fu, what kind of method?"
"Master, I have just calculated that there will be a thunderstorm tonight. When the time comes, follow my instructions and set everything up. Once that man falls into the trap, Master, you can draw upon the Power of Heaven and Earth's Thunder and Lightning to strike him dead."
"Can I really draw upon the Power of Heaven and Earth's Thunder and Lightning?" Although Long Ao was confident in himself, he also knew his own limits. Drawing upon the thunder and lightning of Heaven and Earth was something he could only dream of.
"Master, on your own, you certainly cannot. When the time comes, I will assist you."
"Will there be any side effects for you?" Long Ao was unwilling to let Long Fu take such a risk. What if he fell into a slumber for several hundred years? By then, it would be too late for regrets.
