Chapter 237: Heaven and Earth Mourn Together
Long Ao nodded. He'd always sensed something was amiss with the Nether Tiger Arm and the Divine Dragon Arm.
"Long Fu, speak freely."
"Master, based on the power and mutation of the two little ones, once they fuse to form the Nether Tiger Arm and Divine Dragon Arm, the might they display should be fully double what it is now."
Long Ao said nothing, simply standing still and listening.
"Master, after this period of observation, I've discovered the reason the Nether Tiger Arm and Divine Dragon Arm can't unleash their true power is that the two little ones have yet to receive their inheritances."
"Long Fu, what do you mean?"
'Inheritances?' Long Ao had no idea what Long Fu was talking about.
"Master, both little ones are Mutated Spirit Beasts. Initially, I believed the Nine Nether Earth Tiger was an ordinary Spirit Beast. I never would have imagined that it isn't one at all—it's the Emperor of the Nine Nether Earth Tigers."
Long Ao was astonished to hear this, as he knew full well what it meant to be the Emperor of the Nine Nether Earth Tigers.
"Master, you may not be aware, but some powerful Mutated Spirit Beasts pass down all their power and ultimate techniques upon death. However, this inheritance is Sealed within the minds of their descendants. Only when a descendant grows strong enough will they naturally receive it."
So that was it.
Long Ao now understood Long Fu. Ultimately, the reason the two little ones couldn't unleash their full power when they fused with his arms was that they hadn't received their inheritances.
"Long Fu, is there any way to speed up the inheritance process for them?"
"It cannot be done."
His heart sank. Long Ao knew that if even Long Fu couldn't do it, no one else stood a chance.
"Master, with matters like these inheritances, it's best to let nature take its course."
Nodding, Long Ao stopped dwelling on the two little ones' inheritances. After leaving the Dragon Seal Space, he didn't linger. The battle with the giant serpent had already cost him a lot of time.
Even now, Long Ao was curious. 'Of the hundred-odd people on the Celestial State's Wind and Cloud Ranking, if they went to Chizhou and entered Corpse Bone Mountain, how many would make it out alive?'
'Based on the rumors and my own experience, is it really true that only ten out of a hundred can leave?'
Long Ao set off. Corpse Bone Mountain was filled with an aura of resentment, and skeletal remains were scattered everywhere.
Following Dugu Bai's directions, Long Ao didn't stray from the path and just kept moving forward.
But Long Ao eventually discovered he was lost. He couldn't even tell which way was north, south, east, or west. The sun wasn't visible inside Corpse Bone Mountain, and the environment looked the same in every direction.
"Huh?"
Just then, Long Ao suddenly felt a terrifying power surging toward him. It was so immense that it was impossible for any person to resist.
'What in the world is happening?'
Driven by curiosity, Long Ao headed in the direction of the oppressive Momentum. The closer he got, the more terrifying this Momentum felt, as if it possessed the power to destroy the world.
Long Ao stopped dead in his tracks. He stared at the distant scene, completely dumbfounded and rooted to the spot.
Between Heaven and Earth, a sinister wind howled. A swirling black fog coalesced into a massive cloud, one that looked as if it could devour Heaven and Earth entirely. The scene was breathtakingly shocking, but even more than that, just watching it from afar gave one the feeling of being swallowed whole.
Staring intently at the wondrous spectacle between Heaven and Earth, Long Ao seemed to enter a strange state. Undisturbed, he stood alone and simply watched.
At that very moment, a Momentum began to emanate from Long Ao's body. It was identical in nature to the Momentum being generated by Heaven and Earth in the distance. The only difference was that comparing the two was like comparing a firefly to the moon—they were on completely different levels.
"Heaven and Earth's Momentum."
Long Ao didn't know why those three words had escaped his lips. Then, as he watched the wondrous spectacle in the distance, his body began to move, following the trajectory of Heaven and Earth's Momentum.
An ethereal figure suddenly appeared. Long Fu watched, a hint of surprise in his eyes, as Long Ao's body moved in sync with Heaven and Earth's Momentum. He muttered to himself, "Master's talent is simply heavenly. The day he achieves Nirvana Rebirth will be the day he soars to true greatness."
The day he achieves Nirvana Rebirth will be the day he soars to true greatness.
Long Fu gave him one last, deep look, his face still devoid of any expression. He then transformed into a ball of light and returned to the Dragon Seal Space.
Long Ao was completely unaware of Long Fu's appearance. He had entered a wondrous state, a unique sensation he was experiencing for the very first time.
Gradually, Long Ao began to replicate the distant spectacle of Heaven and Earth within his mind. He let it slowly undergo Evolution and Fusion, taking form again and again in a ceaseless cycle.
Guided by the Heaven and Earth's Momentum in his mind, Long Ao's feet began to move. His steps were chaotic and haphazard, with no discernible pattern. But on closer inspection, one could see that as he walked, the Momentum produced by his Evolution was beginning to fuse with his very being.
Not only that, but Long Ao had also closed his eyes and started walking toward the distant phenomenon.
He completely ignored the Devouring power of Heaven and Earth, completely ignored the oppressive Momentum.
Although the Momentum on Long Ao's body was weak, it seemed capable of fusing with that of Heaven and Earth. Step by step, he finally walked into the heart of the celestial phenomenon.
Any ordinary Martial Artist, even a Void Martial Artist, would have been instantly devoured by the Momentum upon entering the black fog of Heaven and Earth, leaving not even a corpse behind. Even Long Ao himself couldn't have walked in here without first entering his special state—it would have been tantamount to suicide.
But the current situation was completely different. The Heaven and Earth's Momentum that Long Ao generated was identical to the Heaven and Earth's Momentum produced by the black fog. Thus, upon entering the fog, he wasn't attacked, though he was still subjected to its oppressive pressure.
Even so, Long Ao didn't feel a thing. His mind and soul were completely immersed in the Heaven and Earth's Momentum within him.
The Heaven and Earth's Momentum within his mind continuously underwent Evolution and Fusion. Long Ao himself had lost count of the repetitions; he just kept the cycle of Evolution going.
'Heaven and Earth's Momentum... By harnessing Heaven and Earth's Momentum, one can destroy Heaven and Earth.'
Long Ao was muttering something under his breath. Just then, the black fog and Momentum of Heaven and Earth began to surge wildly toward him. If he were to be caught in it, his fate would be sealed.
And yet, Long Ao remained motionless, not even sparing it a glance. The Heaven and Earth's Momentum merged with the black fog, taking the form of a Giant Dragon with a cavernous, bloody maw, ready to devour everything between Heaven and Earth—and Long Ao along with it.
Watching the devouring fog of Momentum descend, Long Ao's eyes snapped open. With no trace of fear on his face, he said coolly, "Why should I fear Heaven and Earth? I'll show you what true sorrow is."
"Heaven and Earth Mourn Together." After uttering these five words, a powerful Momentum erupted from Long Ao's body. It also fused with the surrounding Momentum, preparing to clash head-on with the descending fog.
