Chapter 232: Smashed to Death with One Punch
Corpse Bone Mountain.
The dividing line between the Celestial State and Chizhou. By definition, south of Corpse Bone Mountain was the Celestial State, and north of it was Chizhou.
In other words, to travel from the Celestial State to Chizhou, one had to pass through Corpse Bone Mountain. Likewise, to go from Chizhou to the Celestial State, one also had to cross it.
Corpse Bone Mountain was known as the Hell of Martial Artists.
This meant that out of a hundred Martial Artists who entered Corpse Bone Mountain, less than a tenth would make it out alive. Inside, one could see skeletal remains everywhere; it would be no exaggeration to say the ground was littered with bones.
Outside Corpse Bone Mountain.
After listening to Xia Jun's explanation, Long Ao couldn't help but sigh. He never would have imagined that such a place existed at the border of the Celestial State and Chizhou.
"Brother Dugu, I'd like to ask, how exactly do Martial Artists fall in Corpse Bone Mountain?" Long Ao was utterly baffled by this. According to what Xia Jun had just said, only a tenth of the Martial Artists who entered made it out alive. What on earth happened to the other ninety percent inside Corpse Bone Mountain?
"According to the accounts of the survivors, there's a strange kind of airflow in Corpse Bone Mountain. If a Martial Artist inhales it, they die instantly. There are also Spirit Beasts within the mountain, and they are incomparably ferocious—far stronger than ordinary Spirit Beasts."
So that was it.
Looking at Corpse Bone Mountain before him, Long Ao knew it was an unavoidable path if he wanted to reach Chizhou safely.
"Brother Long, Xiaojun, once we enter Corpse Bone Mountain, remember one thing: don't wander off. Just keep moving straight ahead. If we accidentally get separated, we'll meet on the other side of the mountain."
Long Ao and Xia Jun understood the gravity of the situation and both nodded.
After a short rest, the three of them didn't hesitate and immediately stepped into Corpse Bone Mountain.
As soon as they entered, all three frowned. Just as Dugu Bai had said, there was a strange airflow within Corpse Bone Mountain. Although it was thin, inhaling too much of it would be fatal.
None of them dared to breathe it in. They proceeded forward with extreme caution, on high alert. Perhaps it was just bad luck, but just as they entered, the entire mountain began to be enveloped in a black fog.
They had no idea what was happening. It was as if night had fallen, so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.
"Brother Dugu, Brother Xia, where are you?"
There was no reply. Long Ao didn't dare stay put. Seeing was impossible, so he could only rely on his senses as a Martial Artist to feel his way forward, one slow step at a time.
Corpse Bone Mountain.
This phenomenon occurred three times a day—once in the morning, afternoon, and evening—each time lasting for about three to five minutes. By the time the black fog receded, Long Ao discovered that Dugu Bai and Xia Jun were nowhere to be seen.
'Separated?'
His face soured. They had just entered Corpse Bone Mountain less than ten minutes ago, and the three of them were already separated. 'Looks like I'll have to get out of here on my own,' he thought.
Just as Long Ao was cautiously moving forward, he suddenly felt a force slam into him from behind. Alarmed, he dodged slightly but was still hit squarely, causing him to grimace in pain.
Behind him, a black giant wolf over three meters long was staring daggers at him. Feeling the Killing Intent radiating from the wolf, Long Ao did not back down.
Seizing the initiative, Long Ao stomped his right foot and shot forward. The Blood-Drinking Mad Saber in his hand swung out, unleashing a Sword Aura that flew toward the giant wolf like a Sharp Sword loosed from a bowstring, like a comet.
Watching the incoming Sword Aura, the giant wolf gave a disdainful smirk. A purplish-black airflow emanated from its body, spreading out to form a black Qi Shield in front of it, which then coalesced into a small, spinning tornado.
The Sword Aura shot through the air and struck the whirlwind Qi Shield dead-on. Before Long Ao could even react, the Sword Aura had been Devoured by the whirlwind, vanishing without a trace.
Greatly surprised, Long Ao never expected the giant wolf to completely disregard his Sword Aura. Not daring to be the least bit careless, he formed a Sealing with his hands, and waves of powerful aura radiated outwards.
A look of contempt remained on the giant wolf's face. Its limbs blurred, and with the speed of wind, it was beside Long Ao in the blink of an eye.
Opening its cavernous, bloody maw, the giant wolf lunged to bite Long Ao fiercely. At that moment, the wolf seemed to achieve a Fusion with the surrounding airflow, its power greatly increasing.
"Let's see how you like my Divine Dragon Arm."
A Dragon's Roar resounded. Before the giant wolf could react, Long Qiang's body had already merged into Long Ao's right arm, instantly forming the Divine Dragon Arm. Long Ao's eyes turned icy as he stared at the giant wolf before him.
Soul Attack! Soul Fluctuations slammed viciously into the giant wolf's mind. With its soul injured, the giant wolf was like a drunkard, swaying and stumbling about.
Overjoyed, Long Ao did not let this golden opportunity slip by. He raised his Divine Dragon Arm and smashed it directly toward the giant wolf.
If the giant wolf's soul hadn't been severely injured, it might have been able to dodge. But now...
Long Ao rained down punch after punch, viciously smashing the giant wolf. The Divine Dragon Arm's strength was equivalent to ten thousand jin, and each punch landed like a small mountain, making the giant wolf howl in agony.
Long Ao showed not a shred of pity. He knew very well that one must be decisive in their Slaughter of enemies. As the saying goes: to be merciful to your enemy is to be cruel to yourself.
"Take my last punch!"
Sounds of a Long Ying echoed from Long Ao's Divine Dragon Arm. A black Giant Dragon's phantom danced wildly. Combined with Long Ao's black clothes and white hair, he looked like a God of Slaughter descending upon the world, appearing utterly domineering.
Gathering all the strength in his body plus Long Qiang's power, Long Ao let out a great roar. He stomped one foot, launching his body three meters off the ground. He then flipped upside down, bringing the Divine Dragon Arm crashing down on the giant wolf.
Fist Force carrying Dragon Breath all converged onto Long Ao's Divine Dragon Arm. Descending from the sky, the punch smashed viciously onto the giant wolf's skull. CRACK! No matter how hard the giant wolf's skull was, it couldn't possibly withstand such a ferocious blow. The result was predictable.
After killing the giant wolf with a single punch, Long Ao let out a sigh of relief. He had to admit, the Spirit Beasts inside Corpse Bone Mountain were indeed much stronger than those outside.
HISS, HISS, HISS...
Before Long Ao could even take a decent rest, he heard a hissing sound from up ahead. Curious, he glanced over. He hadn't noticed it before, but the sight gave him a start. A giant python had suddenly appeared in front of him. Its body was over ten meters long, but it had two heads—one ice-blue, the other crimson-red.
"An Ice and Fire Double-headed Python!"
He exclaimed in shock. The giant python before him was not unfamiliar to Long Ao. He had read a book that recorded all sorts of Spirit Beasts, and among them was the Ice and Fire Double-headed Python. They were extremely powerful and possessed Giant Dragon Blood, making them a branch of the Dragon Race and one of the beings closest to true Giant Dragons.
There were even rumors that if an Ice and Fire Double-headed Python's two heads merged into one, it would be like a carp leaping over the dragon gate, and it would ascend to become a true Giant Dragon.
