Chapter 202: A Dog Flaunting Its Master's Power
After Long Ao left, Linghu Ning and Bing Hun didn't linger either.
They planned to leave the Flame Forest, return to Flame City, and immediately transport everything back to the Long Family in Red Fire Town.
The moment they stepped out of the Flame Forest, they saw Du Hexuan and Du Yunxuan. Their expressions changed instantly, as they knew all too well how powerful the two men were.
"I never thought we'd end up waiting for you two instead of Long Ao. But it's all the same."
"As Elders of the Blood Sea Sect, aren't you afraid of being ridiculed for this?"
"Ridiculed?"
Hearing this, Du Hexuan and Du Yunxuan both burst out laughing, their laughter filled with scorn and contempt.
"There's no one around. Who's going to see? Linghu Ning, if you two come with us quietly, we won't make things difficult. But if you don't cooperate, don't blame me for being ruthless."
Linghu Ning and Bing Hun refused to yield, but in the end, they were no match for the two Elders and were subdued.
"Du Yunxuan, Du Hexuan, you are unworthy of being Blood Sea Sect Elders!"
Completely ignoring their curses, Du Yunxuan asked, "Brother, we've captured them. What now?"
"We're heading back. During the upcoming Contest of the Six Sects, as long as we have these two, I refuse to believe Long Ao will just stand by and watch them die."
"Shameless! Despicable!"
Du Yunxuan promptly knocked them both unconscious. "Brother, are you planning to trade them for the Venerable Golden Core?" he asked.
Nodding, Du Hexuan said with a smile, "Long Ao is a man who values loyalty and friendship. I'm sure he won't ignore whether his friends live or die. With these two in our hands, the Venerable Golden Core is as good as ours."
Du Yunxuan wasn't convinced. In his eyes, Long Ao was still just a Transformed Martial Artist. Even with his Soul Attacks and ability to alter the flow of time, snatching the Venerable Golden Core from the disciples of the Six Sects would be no easy feat.
Seeming to guess what his younger brother was thinking, Du Hexuan smiled. "You doubt Long Ao's strength?"
"Brother, we both know Long Ao's actual strength is garbage. If you're saying he has a one hundred percent chance of taking the Venerable Golden Core, well, I just don't believe it."
"Brother, I can say with certainty that in this Contest of the Six Sects, Long Ao will absolutely come out on top."
Du Yunxuan seemed a little surprised. He hadn't expected his brother to have so much faith in Long Ao. 'Can he really win the Venerable Golden Core in the Contest of the Six Sects?'
Even now, Du Yunxuan still found it hard to believe.
Du Hexuan didn't say anything more. The two of them quickly departed with Bing Hun and Linghu Ning. From start to finish, Long Ao knew nothing of what had happened.
The Thunder Sect, one of the Six Great Sects, was as renowned as the Flame Sect. Its power surpassed that of the other Four Great Sects.
The Thunder Empire, backed by the Thunder Sect, was a rival to the Flame Empire, controlling half the territory of the Mortal World. One could only imagine how powerful the Thunder Sect truly was.
Long Ao rushed to the Thunder Sect as fast as he could, only to be stopped by two disciples guarding the gate.
"Hold it. Who are you? How dare you try to barge into the Thunder Sect."
"Long Ao of Red Fire Town."
Red Fire Town?
Although the story of Long Ao had spread throughout the Celestial State, the two guards would never have imagined that the legendary underdog hero would suddenly appear before them. So, upon hearing the words "Red Fire Town," their hearts filled with utter contempt, and they completely ignored the name that followed.
"A mere Mortal Disciple dares to trespass at the Thunder Sect? That alone is an offense punishable by death."
"A couple of dogs throwing their master's weight around."
"Kid, what did you just say?" Hearing him dare to insult them, the two guards became furious, their eyes spitting fire as if they might attack at any moment.
'What a joke. This is the Thunder Sect! Who would dare act so insolently here? Forget a mere Mortal Disciple; they wouldn't even spare a glance for a disciple from one of the other Five Great Sects.'
"Get out of my way."
"HAHAHA, you're telling us to get out of your way? You truly don't know your own limits." The two simply ignored Long Ao's words and burst into laughter, as if they had just heard the most ridiculous thing in the world.
"Kid, did you get kicked in the head by a donkey, or is your brain just full of water? How dare you act so insolently here? I'm officially informing you: your life is ours."
They were completely confident. With their Postnatal Peak strength, dealing with a mere Mortal Disciple would be child's play. Besides, with the Thunder Sect behind them, they believed no one would dare come to the Thunder Sect looking for trouble even if they killed him.
For this very reason, they didn't hesitate any longer. Like hungry wolves, they both pounced viciously at Long Ao.
Long Ao's luck could be considered quite poor. These two Thunder Disciples were originally Outer Sect Disciples with a decent enough status, but they had made a mistake and been demoted to guard duty. Both of them were holding in pent-up frustration with no outlet, and Long Ao happened to be the perfect target.
But they had chosen the wrong target to vent on.
They moved fast, but they flew back even faster, letting out a miserable shriek as they were sent flying.
Before they could even figure out what had happened, their bodies made intimate contact with the ground. If not for Long Ao holding back for Xia Army's sake, that single move would have been enough to kill them countless times over.
Enduring the waves of pain wracking their bodies, the two struggled to their feet. Their expressions were pale, but they still roared arrogantly, "You motherfucker! You dare to hurt us? You'll regret this!"
"I'd love to see how you're going to make me regret it."
Long Ao watched them with great interest, in no hurry to find Xia Army. He wanted to see what kind of tricks a pair of mere gatekeepers could pull.
Just as the two were about to call for reinforcements, a figure shot down from Thunder Peak at incredible speed. Seeing this person, both of their faces lit up. One of them sneered, "Kid, our Young Sect Leader is here! If you've got the guts, don't run! I'd like to see what gave you the—"
SLAP.
Before he could finish his sentence, Xia Army, who had just arrived, slapped him squarely across the face. It was clearly a forceful blow, as it sent the disciple tumbling to the ground. The other guard was so frightened he didn't know what was happening and just stood there, dumbfounded.
"You two worthless fools! You have eyes but failed to recognize Mount Tai! You dare to provoke my brother? I see you're tired of living."
'His brother?'
'Did I just provoke the Young Sect Leader's brother?'
Hearing Xia Army's words, the two were nearly scared to death. Trembling with fear, they immediately dropped to their knees, kowtowing and begging for mercy. Provoking the Young Sect Leader's brother... you wouldn't even know how you died.
