Chapter 85: Kneel, or Die
A kill in a single strike.
Ouyang Fei didn't hold back in the slightest, slaying the two Hundred Scattered Heaven Martial Artists in a single strike.
Long Yili and Duanmu Lin were spoiled brats, but they weren't idiots. When they saw their opponent kill two of their men in a single move, their expressions changed drastically. They both shrieked in terror, "A One-Line Heaven Martial Artist!"
A One-Line Heaven Martial Artist stood a realm above a Hundred Scattered Heaven one.
Long Yili and Duanmu Lin didn't dare to stay a moment longer. They turned to flee, but just then, Long Ao, who hadn't moved an inch, appeared before them as silently as a phantom.
With a sneer, Long Ao asked coldly, "And where might you two be going?"
"AH!"
Hearing their screams, Long Ao was completely exasperated. 'I haven't even done anything yet, and they're already squealing like stuck pigs. This is ridiculous.'
"Brother Long, let it go."
Ouyang Fei, having just slain the two Hundred Scattered Heaven Martial Artists, had cooled down and regained his composure. He knew very well that if he killed Long Yili and Duanmu Lin, the Long Family and the Duanmu Family would never let it go.
Although they were all families, the strength of the Long Family and the Duanmu Family was undeniable. Even the Nebula Kingdom would be no match for the two families if they joined forces.
Though a part of him was screaming for blood, Ouyang Fei's reason ultimately won out over his emotions. If not for himself, he had to think of his Kingdom.
Long Ao was well aware of Ouyang Fei's concerns.
In any case, the status and influence of Thunder City's Fourth Level Long Family and the Duanmu Family were plain to see. The Nebula Kingdom would surely not provoke two such powerful families.
"You two dogs don't know what's good for you! You'd better get out of my way, or you'll die without a proper burial!"
Even now, Long Yili and Duanmu Lin were still trying to act tough. They believed no one would dare to touch them in Thunder City. It was a joke to even think otherwise; in Thunder City, the power and status of the Long Family and Duanmu Family were second only to the Thunder Royal Family.
Sneering, Long Ao said coldly, "The two of you had better shut your mouths."
"Shut my ass! Who the hell do you think you are? You country bumpkin! Let me tell you, you'd better wise up. If you dare to provoke me, you might not live to see tomorrow."
Their faces filled with contempt, Long Yili and Duanmu Lin snorted heavily and brazenly prepared to leave. The onlookers, who were enjoying the show, all recognized the "Four Pests of Thunder City." They were furious but didn't dare to speak out, silently cursing the pair's ancestors back eighteen generations.
But as they started to leave, they saw that the man had no intention of moving aside. They both flew into a rage instantly.
"Kid, you're playing with fire."
"Get the hell out of my way."
Seeing that he still wouldn't budge, Long Yili and Duanmu Lin were livid, but they were powerless to do anything. The Hundred Scattered Heaven Martial Artists they had brought were killed in a single strike. How could they possibly dare to fight him themselves?
"Brother Long, let it go."
"Brother Ouyang, one should yield when it's time to yield, but when compromise is not an option, one must stand firm."
Long Ao's voice was laced with an endless chill. He stared coldly at the two men before him and said, word by word, "Kneel. Or die."
Kneel. Or die.
"You bastard, you dare tell us to kneel?"
Before they could finish their threat, an unrivaled aura erupted from Long Ao, crashing down on them with overwhelming force. Given Long Ao's power, the aura he released was immense. How could the two possibly withstand it?
CRACK. CRACK.
The pressure instantly broke two of Long Yili's and Duanmu Lin's ribs. Their faces were masks of terror. Only now did they finally realize he wasn't joking.
"Kneel. Or die."
Under the immense pressure of his aura, Long Yili and Duanmu Lin finally submitted and knelt. Their faces were filled with cold fury, but they didn't dare utter another threat. They both knew he wasn't bluffing. If he really killed them, they'd be dead long before their families could avenge them.
People like Long Yili and Duanmu Lin feared death above all else.
"YES!" Someone in the crowd started it, and soon everyone was applauding. They all despised the "Four Pests of Thunder City" to the bone and wished the man would just kill the two of them on the spot.
Hearing the waves of applause, the expressions on Long Yili and Duanmu Lin's faces grew even colder. Ordinarily, they would have exploded in anger, but the circumstances had changed. They knelt obediently on the ground, not daring to act arrogant any longer.
"Don't think you're so tough. If it weren't for the Long Family and the Duanmu Family backing you, let me tell you, you'd be nothing but two piles of trash. Killing you would take me less than a minute. Remember this: there's a price to pay for being shameless."
Long Yili and Duanmu Lin still didn't dare to speak, but in their minds, they were cursing his ancestors back eighteen generations. 'Just wait until I get out of here,' they both thought, 'I'll make you pay for this.'
If it weren't for their families, Long Ao would never have let them go. He snorted, then turned and left with Ouyang Fei. By now, the surrounding crowd had already dispersed, with hardly a soul remaining.
Are you kidding? If the Four Pests of Thunder City caught you, you'd be skinned alive, if not killed outright.
"Brother Duanmu, we must get revenge for this."
"Hmph. He dared to provoke us. I'll make him pay a hundredfold! Brother Long, let's return to our families right now and summon some experts. Remember, that guy is a One-Line Heaven Martial Artist. An ordinary one won't be enough."
"I understand." Enduring the pain from their broken ribs, Long Yili and Duanmu Lin struggled to their feet and staggered back toward their respective family compounds.
"Brother Long, that was a bit reckless of you," Ouyang Fei said. "No matter what, Long Yili and Duanmu Lin won't let this go."
"Brother Ouyang, I know what you're trying to say, but let me tell you this: if you always seek compromise, the Nebula Kingdom will never rise. They're just a couple of worthless thugs. I doubt the Long Family and the Duanmu Family will make an enemy of the Nebula Royal Family over this."
'Rise?'
Easier said than done. As the Crown Prince of the Nebula Kingdom, Ouyang Fei wanted his kingdom to rise more than anyone. But the reality was that it was an incredibly difficult thing to achieve. Still, since Brother Long had put it that way, it would be ungracious of him to press the issue.
"Brother Long, it's still early. Why don't I take you to the auction house? I hear the one in Thunder City has a lot of rare treasures. If there's anything you like, Brother Long, I'll be sure to get it for you."
'An auction house?'
Long Ao was intrigued. He nodded, and so the two of them headed toward the largest auction house in Thunder City—which was also the largest in the entire Thunder Empire. Auctions were held there daily, but a grand auction took place every few days. As luck would have it, Long Ao and Ouyang Fei had arrived just in time for one.
