Chapter 297: Forced Purchase
"I want to buy it."
The young man said coolly, fanning himself unhurriedly with a folding fan.
"Did I say I was selling?" Ye Chen was so exasperated he could only laugh.
'What a bizarre guy!'
"Oh?"
"Don't be so quick to refuse me."
The young man looked completely confident. He snapped his fan shut and said slowly, "As long as the price meets your expectations, there's nothing that can't be sold."
Ye Chen couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge him. He simply turned away, unwilling to waste any more words on him.
But the young man was persistent, coming to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Ye Chen.
He looked at Ye Chen with a pleasant smile, not at all annoyed by his coldness. "How about this? Since you're unwilling to name a price, little brother, allow me to make the first offer."
"Three thousand low-grade Spirit Stones. How about it?"
'Three thousand low-grade Spirit Stones?'
The Crimson Nether Flame Prison Carving's eyes went wide.
'If Ye Chen weren't here, it would have transformed into its true form and swallowed this shameless bastard whole!'
'Does he really think I, your granddaddy bird, am just some ornamental pet?'
'Three thousand low-grade Spirit Stones might be enough to buy a single one of its feathers!'
Ye Chen also looked at the young man as if he were an idiot.
'Is he serious with that price? He can't be joking, right?'
"What's wrong?"
"Why aren't you saying anything, little brother? Do you find the price unsuitable?" the young man said at a leisurely pace.
"Three thousand low-grade Spirit Stones wouldn't even buy a ticket for this Cloud Mist Tower Ship, yet you think you can buy my mount with that?"
Ye Chen shook his head with a laugh. "You'd better just stop talking. You're making people think there's something wrong with your head."
Hearing this, the smile on the young man's face slowly faded. He sized up Ye Chen with an indifferent gaze and was just about to speak.
But just then, the girl beside him started crying and whining, "Brother Kun, I want that bird! I want that bird!!!"
"Alright, alright. Be good, Yu'Er. Isn't Brother Kun trying to buy that bird for you right now? Don't be impatient."
The young man quickly adopted a gentle expression, soothing the girl in a soft tone.
"Hurry up, Brother Kun!" the girl urged. "He's going to run away!"
"Don't worry. Whether he agrees or not, this bird will be ours today."
"Besides, this tower ship isn't that big. Even if he runs, it's not like he can leave, can he?"
The young man said with a confident smile.
The Cloud Mist Tower Ship was currently speeding through the sky. At this altitude, unless one was a Divinity Transformation Realm Cultivator, jumping off the ship would only result in death or crippling injury.
After speaking, the young man turned his gaze back to Ye Chen.
Only this time, his expression was clearly tinged with impatience.
"Little brother, are you sure you won't reconsider my offer?" he asked coolly.
"I'm not." Ye Chen rejected him without the slightest hesitation.
"Heh heh..."
A smile suddenly appeared on the young man's face. "Do you think three thousand low-grade Spirit Stones is too little?"
"You claim this bird is your mount, but we're just buying it as an ornamental pet."
"Three thousand low-grade Spirit Stones is already an astronomical price for an ornamental pet."
Ye Chen frowned. "Then go buy one from a spirit pet shop. With how generous you are, I'm sure the shop owner would welcome you with open arms."
"But you heard her."
"My Yu'Er only wants the bird next to you."
The young man sighed, feigning helplessness. "Can't you bear the pain of parting with it, little brother, and form a good bond with us?"
"Annoying."
Ye Chen shot the young man a glance and turned to walk toward the other side of the deck.
He had been in a great mood just moments before, enjoying the evening breeze and contemplating the nature of heaven and earth.
But these two bizarre people had ruined it all.
Ye Chen didn't want to listen to the young man's nonsense anymore. He just wanted to see if he could re-enter that state of selfless tranquility from before.
However, Ye Chen had barely taken two steps when the girl began stomping her feet in anger and frustration. "They're leaving! They're leaving!"
"Grab them! Don't let that bird get away!"
The young man's expression also turned grim.
"Little brother, why won't you listen to reason?"
"I've tried to be pleasant with you, but you insist on asking for trouble. Why must you make this so difficult?"
With a flash, his figure flickered, and the powerful aura of the Ninth Layer of the Primordial Mansion Realm erupted, almost seeming to lock down the surrounding space.
The next moment, he appeared before Ye Chen, blocking his path.
"How about this: I'll count to three. If you obediently hand over the bird, I might let you off the hook."
"Otherwise, the consequences are not something you can bear."
"Think it over yourself."
The young man opened his fan, and vast fluctuations of Spiritual Power swirled around it.
His cold eyes stared fixedly at Ye Chen, his tone filled with menace.
"Lost your patience so quickly?"
Seeing his opponent finally reveal his vicious fangs, Ye Chen, on the contrary, seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, his expression softening.
He hadn't wanted to kill indiscriminately, to avoid accumulating too much negative karma from killing.
But since they had delivered themselves to his doorstep, Ye Chen could only grant their wish and send them on their way.
'They forced my hand, didn't they?'
"Hm?"
The young man noticed the change in Ye Chen's expression and couldn't help but feel that something was strange.
But no matter what, his opponent was merely a Fourth Layer Primordial Mansion Realm Cultivator.
He, on the other hand, had been consolidating his power at the Ninth Layer of the Primordial Mansion Realm for several years. He was just one opportunity away from breaking through to the Divinity Transformation Realm.
The gap in their strength was enormous. No matter what tricks his opponent had up his sleeve, he was completely confident he could neutralize them with ease!
"Brother Kun! Stop wasting time!"
"Just kill him already! I just want the bird!" the girl shouted again.
"Give me thirty seconds. I'll bring this bird to you right away."
The young man smiled, his tone full of indulgence for the girl.
Then, he turned his icy gaze on Ye Chen and began the countdown. "Three..."
"Here!"
However, he had just started the countdown when Ye Chen grabbed the Crimson Nether Flame Prison Carving and held it out in the girl's direction.
"Hm?"
The young man was taken aback for a moment, then couldn't help but laugh. "I didn't expect you to be so sensible after all, kid."
'He now understood that the kid had just been bluffing earlier.'
'This is better, anyway. It saves me some trouble.'
"Gimme, gimme!"
Seeing this, the girl immediately ran over, her hands reaching out to grab the Crimson Nether Flame Prison Carving.
And at that very moment, Ye Chen suddenly said, "Hold nothing back."
His voice was very quiet, and the girl, lost in a state of ecstasy, didn't notice what Ye Chen had said at all.
But the young man sensed that something was wrong.
His expression suddenly changed. "Wait!"
But it was too late.
Just as the girl was about to reach Ye Chen, a piercing cry suddenly echoed through the sky!
