Chapter 80: Breaking the Formation with One Sword
At that moment, even the abbot in the main hall was alarmed.
"This is… Sword Intent?!"
He raised his gaze in astonishment, looking out of the hall at the tall, straight figure suspended in mid-air.
The young man held an obsidian-black longsword, his eyes icy.
Overwhelming Demonic Qi filled the air around him. Sharp Sword Qi, like a sky full of raindrops, spread out below.
"BOOM!"
"BOOM!"
Each wave of Sword Qi shattered the vast golden light that descended from the heavens.
The potent Sword Intent seemed to whip this corner of the world into a storm of Sword Qi. Its surging, astonishing force repeatedly struck the Holy Light Demon-Destruction Array below, sending ripples across its surface.
This great array, a culmination of the Vajra Temple's collective power, was now on the verge of shattering.
"What? This is impossible?!"
"This guy… he actually comprehended Sword Intent?"
The Monks all stared at Ye Chen, their faces filled with shock.
Ye Chen held the Cangming Sword, his expression detached as he scanned every inch of the land below.
At this moment, he was like a peerless divine sword, its chilling light eclipsing the world. Having just been unsheathed, it unleashed an incredible might. With his power alone, he suppressed everyone to the point they could not even lift their heads.
"Break!"
After scattering the vast golden light, Ye Chen swung his sword at the Holy Light Demon-Destruction Array below. The immense Sword Qi condensed, forming a terrifying blade of light that seemed to blot out the very sky!
As the blade of light descended, space itself seemed to tremble.
The entire Vajra Temple shook violently. The terrifying pressure finally caused cracks to appear in the great array, which pulsed with intense golden light.
The Monks were all dumbstruck by the sight.
Their Holy Light Demon-Destruction Array was powerful enough to contend with, and even slay, a true Primordial Mansion Realm Cultivator.
Yet before Ye Chen, they were so fragile they were rendered completely helpless.
With a single downward slash, the golden light was extinguished, and the entire array exploded violently.
The Warrior Buddhas stationed at the points of the pentagram, who were responsible for directing the Holy Light Demon-Destruction Array, all spat up blood and were thrown backward.
Their bodies, as if scoured by a dense storm of Sword Qi, were covered in innumerable fine cuts.
They desperately tried to circulate their Spiritual Power to heal their wounds.
But to their horror, a terrifying Sword Intent lingered in every single cut!
The Sword Intent shredded any Spiritual Power that tried to approach, then continued to tear at their wounds, threatening to grind them to dust!
Overwhelmed by excruciating pain, they collapsed to the ground, writhing in agony.
Such was the terror of Sword Intent.
No one would ever want to face a Sword Cultivator who had comprehended Sword Intent.
If even the powerful Warrior Buddhas met such a miserable fate, there was no need to speak of the other Monks.
The shockwave from the array's explosion sent all the remaining Monks flying.
Some were wounded, others dead. Bodies lay strewn across the ground, and the air was filled with endless wails of agony.
In a single exchange, Vajra Temple had been effortlessly defeated.
The battle had been so utterly one-sided that even the abbot, standing not far away, was momentarily unable to process it.
His expression darkened as he gazed out of the hall at the scene of utter carnage.
'Simply lawless!'
It had been a long, long time since he had been this enraged.
A terrifying aura surged out from within the main hall, instantly dissipating the oppressive pressure that filled the sky.
A brilliant golden light suddenly coalesced into a human figure, appearing before Ye Chen.
His face was withered and deeply wrinkled, making him look like an old man with one foot in the grave.
Yet, facing this old man, Ye Chen didn't have the slightest inclination to underestimate him.
He knew full well that this man was a terrifying figure who stood at the very apex of the Lei Province Cultivation Realm.
The Cultivation Realm was a cruel world where the strong devoured the weak. To underestimate anyone was to court death.
"After hiding for three days, you finally decide to show yourself?"
"But who, I ask, gave you the nerve to cause trouble at my Vajra Temple?"
The abbot spoke slowly, his hoarse voice grating on the ears.
In truth, he too was surprised.
Just as he had concluded that Ye Chen wouldn't dare to appear, and was preparing to go to the Demon Gate to drag him out personally, Ye Chen had shown up on his own accord and was brazenly wreaking havoc in Vajra Temple.
Just as the rumors claimed: young, yet as fearless as the Demon Lord of Chaos, his combat prowess was staggering.
"Hiding?"
Hearing this, Ye Chen scoffed. "Old fiend, are you confused about something?"
"You kill my subordinate, then flee back to your little den!"
"The one who's really hiding here is you, isn't it?"
As he spoke, Ye Chen's expression turned frigid. A frenzied, suffocating killing intent began to pour from him.
"Since you didn't dare to come to the Demon Gate to find me, I came here to fight you myself!"
"I'm going to see for myself what makes you think you can lay a hand on my people!!!"
His voice boomed like thunder, deafening all who heard it.
The Monks below who were still breathing were stunned.
Their abbot had always been an exalted figure. Across all of Lei Province, no one dared to disrespect him.
But where did this young man get the nerve to speak so arrogantly—and right to the abbot's face, no less!
At these words, the abbot fell silent.
He stared at Ye Chen, his face impassive, a blazing golden light swirling in the depths of his eyes.
Ye Chen, for his part, met his gaze without a shred of fear.
There was not a single trace of fear in his pitch-black eyes.
"It seems I have been inactive for too long."
"Annihilating the insignificant Li family clearly wasn't enough to make you realize just how naive you are."
He took a step forward. At that instant, fierce golden Flames erupted around his body.
"My inaction is not because I am old and feeble, my power in decline."
"On the contrary, in all these years, there has not been a single opponent worthy of my attention!"
Half the sky seemed to be painted gold, like the afterglow of a sunset—brilliant and ethereal.
Below, even the heavily injured Monks raised their heads, their eyes filled with fanatical fervor.
'Are we finally going to have the honor of seeing the abbot fight today?'
"Today, I shall see for myself…"
"…whether you, this young prodigy who burst onto the scene like a Demon God, are truly worthy of being my opponent!"
The abbot's voice was not loud or impassioned. Instead, it carried a faint, Zen-like quality—melodious and profound.
His cultivation seemed to have reached a state of perfection. An unfathomable profundity arose from his every word and deed.
And in the face of the abbot's terrifying pressure, which crashed down like a monstrous tidal wave, Ye Chen's expression remained placid, but a towering battle intent ignited in the depths of his dark, profound eyes.
"I'd be delighted!"
