Chapter 168: I Am Helping You
"You... you've actually cultivated to such a realm!" Lingling Daoist's left hand quickly tapped several points on his right arm. When he looked up, his eyes were filled with shock and disbelief!
"I knew you were all looking for me, so of course I had to use that girl as an opportunity to make you lower your guard!" Elder Witch toyed with the Duster in his hand, his words dripping with the smug satisfaction of a successful manipulator. "I just didn't expect you Dragon Soul folks to be so arrogant, sending only one Elder like yourself!"
His tone suggested he was quite disappointed that Dragon Soul had only sent Lingling Daoist, as if one Elder wasn't worthy of his grand scheme!
"And how do you know Dragon Soul only sent me?" Lingling Daoist sneered. His hands rapidly formed a seal in front of him, which he then held up and shouted, "Open!"
But the simple barrier he expected to see failed to appear. The color drained from Lingling Daoist's face!
"Heh, are you talking about him?" Seeing this, Elder Witch gave a faint smile. He casually reached out with a withered hand, and a figure was yanked from the darkness as if pulled through the void, then tossed carelessly in front of Lingling Daoist!
The moment he saw the person, Lingling Daoist lost control again, spraying a mouthful of blood. His body swayed precariously, his eyes filled with sorrow!
It was Elder White Tiger—one of Dragon Soul's eight great Elders, and one of the four Elders that Dragon Soul had trained themselves!
For this mission, to be safe, Lingling Daoist was the public face while White Tiger was hidden in the shadows. With one in the light and one in the dark, they were certain they could complete their objective, even if the enemy's strength exceeded their expectations!
But they had never imagined that they would not only underestimate their opponent's strength but that he would also manage to kill Elder White Tiger without anyone noticing!
BANG!
Just then, a loud noise came from downstairs. Elder Witch and Lingling Daoist turned to look, just in time to see Zhou Fan kick the black-robed man away, pull the Li Hen Sword from the man's chest, and look up at them!
Elder Witch frowned. 'Based on what I know of Zhou Fan, he shouldn't be a match for the black-robed man. How did he not only kill him but do it so quickly?'
Elder Witch's gaze fell upon the Li Hen Sword in Zhou Fan's hand, which was emitting a dark light. 'It must be thanks to that sword!'
"Heh, didn't see that coming, did you? The truth is, Zhou Fan is my final trump card!" Lingling Daoist saw the scene below and laughed hoarsely. Seeing Elder Witch look his way, he continued slowly, "I investigated everything between you and Zhou Fan. I found that you have a particularly high tolerance for him. He's killed quite a few of your subordinates, yet you've endured it time and again. I wonder, now that he's standing right in front of you, can you still tolerate him?"
Lingling Daoist's voice was very soft, so soft that only he and Elder Witch could hear!
"You know... far too much!" Elder Witch smiled cruelly, stepped forward, and slammed a palm onto Lingling Daoist's head!
CRACK!
With a sickening crack, the skull—known as the hardest bone in the human body—of a master like Lingling Daoist was shattered by Elder Witch's single palm strike!
Then, Elder Witch grabbed Lingling Daoist's body with one hand, placed something in its pocket, and, in full view of Zhou Fan and the others below, threw the corpse down!
"Master!"
"Elder!"
Fan and He Yi cried out, rushing over to catch Lingling Daoist's body. They frantically searched him, hoping to find a life-saving pill!
"Old bastard!"
Zhou Fan cursed under his breath. Heedless of whether he was a match for Elder Witch, he broke into a sprint, leaped, and grabbed the third-floor windowsill with both hands. Then, with a powerful pull of his arms, he scrambled up to the rooftop in a few quick movements, just like a gecko.
"Not bad at all. To have improved to this level in just a few days... it's just that the qi in your body is still too scarce!" Looking at Zhou Fan standing before him, Elder Witch clasped his hands behind his back, seemingly appraising him. He then spoke lightly, a hint of admiration in his tone!
"Who the hell are you? Why are you targeting the Chu, Chen, and Gu Families?" Zhou Fan gripped his Li Hen Sword tightly, not daring to make a rash move. His brow furrowed even tighter when he saw the dead Elder White Tiger nearby. 'Dammit, I'm too impulsive. I can't even beat him, so what was the point of running up here?'
"You're mistaken. I am not targeting them," Elder Witch said with a faint smile. "Instead, I am helping you—helping you grow stronger quickly!"
"Helping me? Then how about you cut off your head and let me kick it around like a ball?" Zhou Fan sneered and raised his Li Hen Sword. It didn't matter if he could win; since he had chosen to come up here, this fight was unavoidable!
"Put down the sword. You can't fully control it yet, nor are you a match for me. I will be waiting for you in the Capital City!" Elder Witch glanced into the distance, then flicked his sleeve. A hurricane-force wind erupted, blowing Zhou Fan straight off the rooftop!
