Chapter 154: It's Your Turn to Perform
At 10:00 AM sharp, the chairman's office of the Gu Group was filled with people. At the head of the table sat the current chairman of the Gu Group, Wang Liang. On either side of him were Kong Fei, Liang Tian, and a group of veteran shareholders of Gu International who all held a certain amount of stock.
"Chairman Wang, it's already 10:00 AM sharp, and President Gu Feifei still hasn't arrived. Does she have any respect for us? For the veteran members? For you, Chairman Wang?"
"Exactly! She's the one who had Elder Kong notify everyone. Now we're all here, but she isn't. What is she trying to pull? She's clearly making a fool of us!"
"I propose we formally vote to revoke her position as President, buy out her shares, and permanently expel her from the Gu Group!"
A few of the minor shareholders, as if they had planned it beforehand, all began to target the absent Gu Feifei, even implicating Kong Fei in their complaints.
"Elder Kong, what are your thoughts?" Wang Liang held up a hand, signaling for the others to be quiet. He then posed the question to Kong Fei with feigned politeness, effectively putting him on the spot.
"If you all want to expel that girl, Feifei, from the Gu Group, I have no objection." Kong Fei glanced at Wang Liang and the others. 'As a wily old veteran who had navigated the business world for decades, how could I not see they had colluded beforehand?'
"However, even if you want to expel her, Gu Feifei is the sole heir of the Gu Family. Shouldn't you at least wait for her to arrive before you begin? Don't forget, this building still bears the Gu name, and this company is called the Gu Group!"
Wang Liang didn't argue. He knew Kong Fei was trying to stall for time, so he turned to Liang Tian on the other side. "Elder Liang, you and Elder Kong are the most senior members in the company. What do you think we should do?"
In an instant, all eyes fell on Liang Tian, the shareholder who had clearly expressed his support for Gu Feifei.
"With Elder Gu absent, and since Young Master Wang is now the company's largest shareholder, let's just do as he says. Times are changing, and sacrifices must be made. Gu Feifei has shown contempt for the shareholders' meeting. I propose we start the vote now. All in favor of expelling her from the Gu Group and buying out her shares, raise your hands!"
Liang Tian kept his head down, not daring to look at Kong Fei. He spoke in a low voice and was the first to raise his hand.
The conference room instantly erupted into an uproar!
No one had expected that Kong Fei, who had always clashed with Elder Gu and argued with him at every meeting, would be the one to truly support Gu Feifei. Meanwhile, Liang Tian, who had always been on good terms with Elder Gu and was the first to stand up for Gu Feifei after his disappearance, had actually turned against her at the critical moment—and was even the first to kick her while she was down!
Kong Fei's brow furrowed. He stared at Liang Tian but said nothing.
The vote concluded quickly. Aside from Kong Fei and a few other minor shareholders, everyone had raised their hands in favor of expelling Gu Feifei from the Gu Group.
Gu Feifei's departure seemed to be a foregone conclusion.
But just then, the doors to the conference room were pushed open. Three people walked in under everyone's gaze. Leading them was none other than Gu Feifei, the very person they were about to expel.
Today, Gu Feifei was dressed in a sharp, well-tailored suit. She was followed by two men, one young and one middle-aged.
Kong Fei looked at Gu Feifei and the young man behind her and couldn't help but smile. 'These two really aren't in any hurry!'
Of course, Kong Fei had no way of knowing that they would have arrived much earlier if not for Zhou Fan stirring up trouble and a competitive Gu Feifei wasting a bit of time as a result.
"Gu Feifei, you've shown contempt for the authority of the shareholders' meeting! We've just voted. You are no longer the President of the Gu Group!" The man who had first pointed out Gu Feifei's tardiness was the first to stand up, looking down arrogantly at her as she walked right up beside him.
"Excuse me, but when you say 'expel,' does that mean you intend to buy out the ten percent of shares I hold?" Gu Feifei walked to her seat and sat down, calmly looking at the crowd.
Zhou Fan and the other man—Han Huan, whom he had called over to help—sat down on the chairs behind Gu Feifei.
"Yes!"
Although Kong Fei didn't know what Gu Feifei and Zhou Fan were planning, he was the first to nod and confirm it.
"Alright then!"
But to everyone's surprise, Gu Feifei just nodded, then stood up and walked over to Zhou Fan. Pouting her lips, she said, "Brother Fan, it's your time to shine!"
Zhou Fan shook his head helplessly. 'This girl... still playing around at a time like this!'
"Who are you? This is a shareholders' meeting for the Gu Group. Unaffiliated personnel are not allowed to be seated here!" The same man from before stood up again, clearly displeased, and pointed at Zhou Fan, who was about to sit down.
Kong Fei also looked bewildered. 'I trust Zhou Fan isn't the type to act recklessly, but he still needs a proper reason to be here. Did the two of them really not come up with any plan these past few days?'
