Chapter 118: How Will You Choose?
"You two, that's Chu Yifeng! The one my brother-in-law, Zhou Fan, told us about!" Chu Wen said, turning to the twins as the enemy charged toward them.
"Kill them!"
Hearing this, the twins let out a sharp cry and led the other members of the Traceless Squad behind them, charging forward to meet Chu Yifeng's men!
"Kill them and rescue Old Master Chu Tianxiang!"
On the other side, seeing that Zhou Fan's people had arrived, Fan knew the time was right. With a low shout, he took the lead and attacked Chu Yifeng!
The scene instantly descended into chaos. Chu Qianqian took the opportunity to lead a few members of the Chu Family and get Chu Tianxiang to safety on the side.
...
Inside the factory, Gu Feifei had found a wooden door panel to sit on, letting Zhou Fan rest his head in her lap. She held him tightly, praying he would wake up soon. There was nothing else she could do.
Night had completely fallen, with only a few scattered stars twinkling in the sky. A frigid wind howled through the empty factory, making terrifying, whining sounds. The air was getting chilly. Gu Feifei tightened the lone bath towel wrapped around her body, but it was no use.
Looking down at Zhou Fan, who was still unconscious and shivering in her lap, Gu Feifei bit her lip, hesitating. After a moment, she cast aside her reservations and, with hands a bit stiff from the cold, unbuttoned his clothes.
In his sleep, Zhou Fan felt so warm, as if he were next to a stove on a cold winter's night. He unconsciously tried to pull the source of warmth closer.
「Noon the next day.」
Zhou Fan finally, slowly opened his eyes. 'That Green Puppet's final blow yesterday nearly killed me. If it weren't for the power of the Bodhi Heart inside me, I probably wouldn't have woken up.'
Huh?
Just as he was about to stand up and stretch to see how his body had recovered, Zhou Fan noticed someone lying on top of him. Confused, he couldn't help but look up.
The midday sun was a bit blinding. Even though Zhou Fan was in the factory, the dilapidated building had no roof, forcing him to squint.
Messy hair, long eyelashes, slightly smudged makeup, but he could still make out a pretty face with delicate features. Her brows were tightly furrowed, as if she were having an unpleasant dream.
Her two small hands were hooked tightly around Zhou Fan's neck, and...
Looking at the soundly sleeping Gu Feifei, Zhou Fan finally understood what the "stove" he kept trying to hug in his sleep was. He also knew why he'd felt like someone was strangling him with a rope.
He very gently lifted Gu Feifei off him and laid her softly on the door panel. Zhou Fan glanced at their current state of undress, sighed helplessly, and stared off into the distance.
'Even though nothing happened last night, she's a girl, and she went this far for me. I can't just pretend it's nothing,' he thought. 'Besides, if it weren't for Gu Feifei, I probably would have frozen to death, especially since I was so badly injured.'
His clothes were draped over Gu Feifei, and Zhou Fan didn't have the heart to take them back. Left with just his boxers, he squatted helplessly to the side and lit a cigarette.
"Um... Brother Fan, you're awake? Are your injuries any better?" A short while later, Gu Feifei opened her eyes. Seeing Zhou Fan's comical appearance squatting off to the side, she wanted to laugh but held it in, asking quietly.
Actually, Gu Feifei had woken up when Zhou Fan did, but she hadn't dared to open her eyes. She was afraid it would be awkward for both of them.
'Even though I had my reasons, and I was the one making the sacrifice, I'm still afraid he'll misunderstand,' she worried.
"Much better. It's not a big deal," Zhou Fan said, standing up. He walked over to Gu Feifei, casually picked up his clothes, and put them on. He left his jacket behind. "Here, make do with this."
Luckily, Zhou Fan's jacket was very loose. After Gu Feifei put it on, it surprisingly looked almost like the pleated skirt she had worn the day before.
"Let's go back and change, then wash up. We have important things to do today!" Zhou Fan took Gu Feifei's small hand, and they started walking back to the small hotel the way they came.
"Brother Fan, yesterday I..."
"You don't have to say it. I get it."
"No, you don't!" Gu Feifei said to Zhou Fan's back, seemingly mustering all her courage. "Nothing happened between us. I was just too cold, that's why I thought of doing that. You don't need to feel any psychological burden!"
"Silly girl, what kind of psychological burden would I have? Have you forgotten? I've already seen everything!" Zhou Fan turned around, looking amusedly at Gu Feifei's nervous face. He gently tapped her on the nose. "You were always destined to be my woman. Don't worry, I'll find a chance to introduce you and Xiaoyan."
"Huh?" Gu Feifei was completely dumbfounded. Her mind went blank. After staring blankly for a long moment, she finally said, "But President Chu and I already know each other!"
"You'll meet again, with a new identity."
'A new identity?'
Gu Feifei followed numbly behind Zhou Fan, imagining a day when he would bring her before Chu Yan and say in a cool, domineering voice, "Let me make a formal introduction. This is my girlfriend."
'No, no, that won't work! That would be too unfair to Chu Yan!'
"Then how will you choose? Between me and President Chu?" Gu Feifei struggled with the thought for a long while before finally voicing her doubt. In her eyes, there was really no aspect in which she was better than Chu Yan. Although she had always considered herself perfect, Chu Yan was hardly lacking.
