Chapter 116: Unconscious
"What are you standing there for? Make the call, then find a place to hide!" Zhou Fan roared, having been blasted away by another punch from the green puppet. He turned his head and saw Gu Feifei was still in a daze.
Gu Feifei snapped out of it. Though still reeling from shock, she found the contact named "Wife" and dialed it immediately.
"Hey, honey. Are you done over there?" The instant the call connected, Chu Yan's sweet voice came from the other side, making Gu Feifei stare in disbelief. 'Is this sweet-sounding woman really that same cold and aloof female president?'
"P-President Chu, it's Gu Feifei. Brother Fan asked me to tell you, whatever you do, don't leave the villa. Everything else will have to wait until he gets back!"
In a trembling voice, Gu Feifei hastily relayed Zhou Fan's message to Chu Yan. Then, as if by some unspoken agreement, both of them fell silent for more than ten seconds.
"Feifei, tell my husband not to worry. I won't leave the villa. You two need to be careful, too!" Chu Yan's voice came again. Although it still had a certain sweetness, it was much colder than before, tinged with a newfound distance.
"Okay, okay… Goodbye, President Chu!" Gu Feifei nodded repeatedly and quickly hung up. Clutching her bath towel with one hand, she nervously hid behind a pillar, her beautiful eyes darting about as she was lost in thought.
Ahead of her, Zhou Fan had already traded dozens of blows with the two green puppets. He hadn't gained an inch of ground; in fact, he was now covered in wounds of varying severity that they had inflicted.
After another explosive clash, Zhou Fan hastily retreated several steps. He watched the green puppets pause for a fraction of a second before charging at him again, and the fighting spirit in his eyes grew even more intense.
Zhou Fan had figured it out. He didn't know how these things were made, but they felt no pain, were incredibly strong, and were fast. In a way, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call them unkillable.
But Zhou Fan had also found their weakness. They only followed the orders given to them by their controller, and they wouldn't stop until that command was fulfilled.
With that, Zhou Fan suddenly pinched his nose and held his breath.
Sure enough, the moment Zhou Fan held his breath, the two green puppets stopped in their tracks, as if they had lost their target.
They even completely ignored Gu Feifei, who was hiding not far away, breathing loudly with nervousness.
Staring at them without blinking, Zhou Fan began to cautiously back away. 'Since I can't take care of these two right now, I'll hide first and come up with a plan.'
Backing up to Gu Feifei's side, Zhou Fan motioned for her to retreat into the warehouse. 'If only I had Black Edge with me,' he thought. 'With its sharpness, I could definitely slice through these green puppets' skin!'
Gu Feifei nodded lightly, still clutching her bath towel in one hand. After all the running, it offered almost no coverage, but it was better than nothing.
As Zhou Fan scanned the area for a makeshift weapon, Gu Feifei finally managed to retreat another ten meters or so.
Suddenly, Zhou Fan's eyes locked onto an iron pipe more than two meters long. He broke into a sprint toward it, letting out his breath.
Just as he'd expected, the moment Zhou Fan started breathing normally again, the two green puppets charged toward him.
The instant the green puppets reached him, Zhou Fan snatched up the steel pipe with one hand, swung it, and smashed it down on the closest one.
'Damn it. You think I can't deal with two pieces of trash that can only sense their targets by breath?'
THWACK! THWACK! THWACK!
He unleashed a vicious flurry of attacks. Swinging with one hand felt awkward, so he switched to a two-handed grip and began smashing away with wild abandon.
CRACK!
The steel pipe connected with one of the green puppet's heads. Maybe it was because he had struck that spot too many times, or maybe Zhou Fan put extra force into this swing, but with a sickening crunch, the pipe smashed the puppet's head to pieces.
Before Zhou Fan's eyes, the green puppet with the shattered head slowly collapsed, crashing to the ground.
THUD!
But just then, the other green puppet landed a punch square in the center of Zhou Fan's back. The immense force sent him stumbling forward uncontrollably.
He sprayed a mouthful of blood, his face deathly pale. But he didn't dare hesitate for a second. He used the momentum to roll aside, scramble to his feet, and swing the steel pipe at the green puppet that was charging him again.
With a resounding impact, Zhou Fan's steel pipe pierced the creature's temple, taking down the last green puppet.
Fighting through the pain of his injuries, without even time to wipe the blood from the corner of his mouth, Zhou Fan staggered toward Gu Feifei.
Seeing him, Gu Feifei forgot her fear and ran toward him, still clutching her bath towel with one hand.
The moment Gu Feifei caught him in an embrace, Zhou Fan's vision went black. His entire body went limp, collapsing against her, unconscious.
