Chapter 109: A Bar That Doesn't Want to Make Money?
Thanks to Zhou Fan's shameless antics, the two didn't arrive at the office until after ten. Once Chu Yan reached her office, she slapped her forehead in exasperation. She'd never been late for work before meeting Zhou Fan, but now it was becoming a regular occurrence!
Zhou Fan, on the other hand, was humming a cheerful tune as he arrived at the sales department. Having been away for a few days, he found he actually missed the girls a little!
But upon arriving at the sales department, Zhou Fan was taken aback. 'Something about this atmosphere is wrong!'
"Zhou Fan, you're finally here! Have you seen Feifei?" A female colleague who was on fairly good terms with him rushed over the moment she saw him. Hearing her, the other women quickly gathered around too.
"What happened to Feifei?" Listening to the group of women chattering all at once, Zhou Fan felt it was louder than a crowded market. Despite his excellent hearing, he somehow couldn't make out a single word they were saying.
"Feifei hasn't been to work for three days, and she's not answering her phone!" Chen Yi, having heard the noise, walked out just in time to see Zhou Fan standing there.
"Didn't you go to her place to look for her?" A bad feeling started to creep into Zhou Fan's heart.
"We went. A few of us went together yesterday, but we knocked for a long time and no one answered. We ended up asking her next-door neighbor, who said they hadn't seen her come home in days!" Chen Yi's brow knitted, her face etched with worry and concern. The women were all as close as sisters, so how could they not be worried now that Gu Feifei was missing?
"I understand. You all focus on your work, I'll go look for her!" Zhou Fan patted Chen Yi's shoulder, then turned and headed out.
As he walked, Zhou Fan pulled out his phone and tried calling Gu Feifei again, only to find it was turned off. He then called Zhang Lei to ask if he knew anything about Gu Feifei's whereabouts.
Zhang Lei told him he'd need half an hour.
Zhou Fan sat by the company entrance, thought for a moment, and then made another call. This time it was to Chu Wen, telling him to get a car for him. He didn't care what kind, as long as it was fast.
That kid Chu Wen was remarkably efficient. In less than twenty minutes, he pulled up in a Maserati and suavely tossed the keys to Zhou Fan. "Brother-in-law, what have you been doing with yourself? How have you not even managed to get a car?"
"It's called keeping a low profile, understand? I'm just an ordinary sales department employee. Have you ever seen a regular employee drive a luxury car to work?" Zhou Fan shot Chu Wen a glare, then opened the car door and slid in.
"Brother-in-law, where are you headed? Take me with you! I'm so bored, and my sister's cut off my allowance so I can't spend recklessly!" Chu Wen whined pitifully as he yanked open the passenger door and plopped into the seat.
"Fine, you can come along, but let me ask you a question. Are you closer to me, or to your sister?" Zhou Fan turned to look at Chu Wen with a mischievous glint in his eye.
'Even though he was only looking for Gu Feifei out of concern for a colleague, with no romantic feelings involved, he knew an interrogation from Chu Yan would be unavoidable if she heard about it.'
"Brother-in-law, what are you talking about? Of course I'm closer to you! You have no idea how much I admire you!" No matter why Zhou Fan had asked, Chu Wen knew that laying on the flattery was never the wrong answer.
"Oh yeah, Brother-in-law, let's go have some fun in West City. I heard a new bar opened there recently. But when rich kids like us from East City and North City try to go, they won't let us in at all. They're unbelievably arrogant!"
"They won't let you in? What kind of bar doesn't want to make money? Besides, how could they possibly recognize you on sight?" Zhou Fan asked casually, glancing at the time. There were still about ten minutes left before the half-hour mark.
"I don't know how, but I went with some friends yesterday, and the bouncers there were incredibly arrogant. They just threw us out. Even the bodyguards we brought couldn't beat them. So, Brother-in-law, how about you take me there and help me get some payback?" Chu Wen said with a fawning, sly grin. For a rich kid like him, this was an absolute humiliation. But unfortunately, none of their families' influence extended to West City, so they had no choice but to accept defeat.
"Hold on. Where did you say that bar is located?" Zhou Fan suddenly looked up at Chu Wen.
"West City. It's on a street pretty far from the downtown area. The owner must have a screw loose, picking a spot like that. If I hadn't heard the girls there were hot, I wouldn't have wasted my time!" Chu Wen grumbled indignantly, not understanding why Zhou Fan was suddenly so interested.
"Alright. Once I'm done with this, I'll take you to settle the score," Zhou Fan said with a thoughtful smile. Right on cue, his phone buzzed with a message from Zhang Lei. It was an address.
Looking at the location, a flicker of confusion crossed Zhou Fan's eyes. If he didn't know how capable Zhang Lei was in these matters, he would have suspected a mistake.
"Hold on tight!"
After saying this to Chu Wen, Zhou Fan slammed his foot on the accelerator. The car let out a thunderous roar and shot forward like an arrow loosed from a bowstring.
