The Ultimate Devil's Magnificent CEO

Chapter 79: Someone from the Witch Race Has Come

"Honey, are you hurt?" Inside the car, Chu Yan cautiously checked Zhou Fan over. She didn't find any wounds, but she was still worried.

"Don't worry, honey. These small fries couldn't hurt me!" Zhou Fan said with a proud smile. 'It's been a while since I've felt this powerful!'

"That's a relief." Chu Yan sighed. "But those people standing over there... aren't they with the ones who died? You're just letting them go? Won't that be dangerous?"

Hearing Chu Yan's words, Zhou Fan was speechless. 'My wife never used to be like this. Why isn't she the least bit afraid of killing now?'

'Not only is she not afraid, she even wants me to get rid of those regular bodyguards, too!'

"Honey, we're legitimate business people. Why do you make us sound like the villains?" Zhou Fan felt he needed to have a talk with Chu Yan. 'One person like me in this family is enough!'

"The business world is also a battlefield. People die there, too; it's just a different environment. I used to be too soft-hearted, but after everything we've been through—Chu Yifeng's betrayal of the Chu Family, the constant assassination attempts on us, and you risking your life to save me every time, honey—I've realized something. While you shouldn't be evil, you can't afford to be too kind, either. Otherwise, you'll never get anywhere. Since they decided to assassinate us, they had to be prepared to be killed in return!"

Chu Yan turned her head, a determined look in her beautiful eyes. Her words left Zhou Fan stunned.

Was Chu Yan right?

Zhou Fan thought she was.

In their world, if you set out to kill someone, you had to be prepared to be killed yourself. That was an immutable rule.

"Honey, I was just thinking... if we had never met, would you still be living a peaceful life, not dragged into all this trouble that follows me?" Zhou Fan said, suddenly feeling emotional and conflicted.

"What do you mean by that? Are you thinking of leaving me behind and going off on your own? Let me tell you, don't even think about it!" Chu Yan's hand shot out and pinched Zhou Fan on the waist, her pearly white teeth clenched as she glared at him threateningly.

"Ow, ow, ow! Honey, easy! I didn't mean it like that. How could I ever bear to leave you? I'm the happiest man in the world to have you as my wife!"

"Hmph. That's more like it." Chu Yan nodded, satisfied. She then pointed to a farmhouse a short distance ahead. "That's where they sell the free-range chickens," she said. "If it weren't for you, I might have been violated by someone else, or killed by Chu Yifeng's men, or even thrown into a river to drown."

Zhou Fan thought for a moment. 'She does have a point.'

「That night.」

Zhou Fan and Chu Yan returned home, made dinner, and after eating, went to bed together.

After Chu Yan was sound asleep, Zhou Fan got dressed, quietly left the room, and went out into the courtyard.

"Here. This is the intel on those bodyguards." Seeing Zhou Fan emerge, Fan handed him a piece of paper. "We've finished our investigation into the Assassination Squad. You've already dealt with everyone they've sent. Their leader was a man called One-eye. However, based on what we've heard from other sources, it seems Viper is preparing to come lead a team himself."

"Aren't you going to handle this? I thought Wolf Fang and Tiger Teeth were supposed to deal with this sort of thing. They're not good people. Are you just going to let them run amok?"

Zhou Fan spoke casually as he glanced at the file on the bodyguards. 'Just as I thought. They're Wang Tianhao's men.'

"As for whether we handle it, you can take that up with He Yi. Wolf Fang doesn't have the capability right now," Fan said, shaking his head nonchalantly. When he saw Zhou Fan give him a strange look, he felt a pang of guilt and quickly turned his head away.

"I'm not trying to be rude, bro, but this is just sad. If you want me to treat your internal injuries, just say it. Stop beating around the bush." Zhou Fan gave Fan a scornful look, then turned and went back inside.

A moment later, Zhou Fan came back out holding a case of golden needles. Without needing to be told, Fan had already sat down on the courtyard bench.

In truth, even if Fan hadn't brought it up, Zhou Fan had already planned on helping him with acupuncture once he was fully recovered. The injury itself wasn't severe; a previous wound had simply blocked his meridians, rendering conventional medicine ineffective.

About half an hour later, Zhou Fan removed the golden needles one by one.

"It feels a lot better, but I'm not fully healed," Fan said after checking his condition, looking at Zhou Fan in confusion.

"Of course not. I couldn't waste too much of my strength. Do you have any idea how much danger I'm in? I need to stay at my peak. As for you, just go home and rest for a couple of days. You'll be fully healed."

Zhou Fan rolled his eyes. 'Did he really expect a full recovery right now? That would have drained me, and it was completely unnecessary.'

"Oh, right. Chen Feng might be in danger. What are your thoughts on that?" Fan asked as he was about to leave, turning to look at Zhou Fan as if the thought had just occurred to him.

"What kind of danger?" Zhou Fan frowned. He had never expected to keep the matter with the Chen Family a secret from Fan anyway.

"The Witch Race has sent people."

With that parting shot, Fan left, leaving Zhou Fan sitting alone on the bench in a daze.
