Chapter 62: A Person You Cannot Afford to Provoke
"Kidnapped? So what? You're just a daughter, not a son. Did you think they'd use you to threaten us?" Song Qing said with disdain, showing not a single shred of maternal instinct. Her expression was full of disgust, as if Chu Yan was a total embarrassment to her.
In Song Qing's eyes, it was because she had given birth to a daughter that Chu Peiyang had found another woman and had a son, Chu Wen. Although that woman had died in an accident after giving birth, Song Qing was still furious about it. She had held a grudge for over twenty years.
At that moment, hearing those words come directly from Song Qing's mouth, Chu Yan said nothing. She just shook her head with a bitter smile.
Chu Yan had known for a long time that her parents had no feelings for her. She'd also known that in their eyes, she was just a burden, someone with no value to them whatsoever.
But Chu Yan had never imagined that her own mother, the woman who gave birth to her, would actually say such things aloud.
Chu Wen wanted to step forward and argue, but Chu Yan held him back. 'It's pointless, isn't it?'
"If my wife were kidnapped, and it was by one of your Chu Family, I would tie every single one of you up. If my wife were in any danger, I would make the entire Chu Family pay with their lives!"
But just as Chu Yan was sinking into despair, a domineering voice came from the doorway. Everyone turned to see Zhou Fan, the man who had healed Lao San with Ying Yi.
As everyone watched, Zhou Fan slowly walked into the main hall. He scanned the room, his expression cold and his eyes glinting with a faint killing intent.
"Honey, let's go home."
Taking Chu Yan's somewhat cold hand, Zhou Fan said softly.
"Mhm, let's go home. To our own home!"
At that moment, Chu Yan couldn't hold back her tears any longer. She didn't wipe them away, simply letting them stream down her face as she nodded forcefully.
"How dare you! Who the hell do you think you are? Since when does an outsider like you have the right to meddle in the Chu Family's affairs? You even have the audacity to talk about killing our entire family!"
Chu Peiyu's wife shrieked, standing together with Song Qing.
Hearing this, Ying Yi instantly knew things were bad. He was about to intervene, but it was already too late. Zhou Fan turned, took two steps, and was already in front of the woman. He shot out a hand, grabbed her by the neck, and lifted her into the air.
"The only thing connecting me to your Chu Family is my wife. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't give a damn if you lived or died. As for who I am? I'll tell you..." Zhou Fan's eyes were icy. "I'm someone who can wipe out your Chu Family with a wave of my hand, and someone you can't afford to provoke!"
CRACK!
With a slight squeeze of his fingers, Chu Peiyu's wife's head lolled to the side, her life extinguished.
He casually tossed her aside like a bag of trash, then turned to face Chu Tianxiang. "Get your family in line. Otherwise, don't blame me for being merciless."
With that, he left the stunned members of the Chu Family in the hall, once again took Chu Yan's hand, and strode coolly out of the Chu residence.
"You shouldn't have provoked him. He's right. If Chu Yan wasn't his wife, he wouldn't have batted an eye even if Chu Yifeng killed your entire family."
Even after Zhou Fan and Chu Yan's figures had disappeared, the crowd was still in a state of shock. Ying Yi glanced around at them and said faintly.
"He killed someone! He's a murderer! Why aren't you arresting him?" Song Qing shrieked at Ying Yi, snapping out of her daze and pointing at the door.
"Shut your mouth! If you weren't my sister's biological mother, you'd be the one lying dead right now!" Chu Wen roared, stunning Song Qing into silence. He then gave a nod to Chu Tianxiang and Chu Qianqian and left as well.
Chu Wen truly felt no fondness for this cold, heartless family.
"Don't doubt it. I've seen him in action with my own eyes. He really does have the power to kill all of you," Chu Qianqian said, sweeping a cold glance over Song Qing and the other family members. "Father, it's time you put things in order."
After they returned home, for the first time, Chu Yan let Zhou Fan carry her into the bathroom, as docile as a little kitten.
"Darling, it's so good to have you. I'm so lucky the heavens let me meet you."
Lying on the sofa, Chu Yan couldn't keep her hands still. One moment she was pinching Zhou Fan's nose, the next his lips, all while smiling blissfully.
"You're so silly, honey. It's a good thing you met me. Otherwise, I'd be afraid someone would sell you and you'd still be helping them count the money," Zhou Fan said with a mischievous grin, his hands still roaming.
"You're the silly one! I'm a CEO, you know? Everyone says I'm aloof and intelligent!" Chu Yan retorted, puffing out her cheeks, unconvinced.
"Is that so? Let me see just how aloof my wife can be." As he spoke, Zhou Fan rolled over and pounced on her.
The two of them played around for a while. Since Zhou Fan's injuries hadn't fully healed, they didn't do anything more than some heavy petting. Even so, Chu Yan's face turned crimson, and she was so shy she nearly fainted.
Before long, Chu Yan fell asleep, pillowed on Zhou Fan's arm. Zhou Fan, however, frowned slightly as he recalled something he had overlooked—something of critical importance...
