The Ultimate Devil's Magnificent CEO

Chapter 55: You Go Pick One and Try Your Hand

To the Chu Family, from any perspective, Chu Tianxiang was undoubtedly more important than Chu Qianqian!

'Then there are only two possibilities. One, they kidnapped Chu Qianqian to draw our forces away, making it easier for another group to grab Chu Tianxiang. This was something Fan had already prepared for!'

'The other is that Chu Qianqian holds some greater importance to Chu Yifeng—or rather, to the people behind him—a purpose we know nothing about!'

'Damn it, why is there so much trouble every single day?'

Zhou Fan decided that if he caught Chu Yifeng this time, he'd slap the life out of him for daring to disturb his and his wife's sweet dreams!

There were few cars on the road at night, and Zhou Fan was driving fast. After leaving the city through North City, he didn't have to go far before he met up with Fan and Chu Wen.

They followed the tire tracks, speeding along until they reached an extremely narrow path, where they all came to a stop.

"The engine's still hot. They can't be far!" Chu Wen got out and walked over to the vehicles parked ahead. He placed a hand on each hood in turn, then returned to Zhou Fan and Fan.

"You and your men stay out here. The two of us are enough to go in," Fan said, his eyes scanning the surroundings. For some reason, an ominous feeling crept into his heart as he looked at Chu Wen and the men behind him.

"Listen to Fan, or I'm telling your sister when we get back." Seeing Chu Wen about to argue, Zhou Fan immediately brought up Chu Yan.

"Come on, Brother-in-law, let me go in with you. Even though she's not my biological aunt, I still want to do my part!" Chu Wen pleaded.

"Not biological?" Both Zhou Fan and Fan were taken aback.

"Yeah. Didn't my sister tell you? She's the daughter of my grandfather's best friend. She came to live with us a long time ago, when my sister and I were only four or five. I think her father had some sort of accident." Chu Wen looked at Zhou Fan in confusion. He had assumed Chu Yan would have told him, since it wasn't exactly a secret in the Chu Family.

"Then keep up," Zhou Fan said, not dwelling on the matter. He gave Chu Wen a word of caution, exchanged a look with Fan, and took off running toward the mountains in the distance.

"What do you think?" Fan whispered to Zhou Fan as they ran. "I can't shake this bad feeling, like we're walking into a conspiracy."

"I'm not sure either," Zhou Fan frowned, briefly explaining the theories he had come up with on the way over.

Even though the two of them had to slow down for Chu Wen, it didn't take long for them to reach the edge of the woods. The dark, oppressive forest looked like a monstrous beast with its gaping, bloody maw wide open, as if waiting for them to walk right into a trap.

BANG!

Suddenly, a massive explosion erupted from the direction they had come, right where they had parked the cars. The three of them spun around to see a fireball lighting up the sky.

"FUCK! My new car!"

Chu Wen screamed. He whipped out his phone to call the men he'd left behind, but the call wouldn't go through.

"Don't waste your time. That must have been the enemy's rear guard. The men you brought are probably already dead," Fan said in a low voice, glancing first at Zhou Fan, then at the distant firelight.

In that instant, he finally understood the source of his unease.

'Regardless of their intentions with Chu Qianqian, their primary target this time was definitely either me or Zhou Fan.'

'Or maybe, to trap and kill us both right here in these mountains.'

"Well then, it looks like we have no choice. Into the woods. We'll find a place to set up an ambush."

Zhou Fan glanced at the distant firelight, gestured to the other two, and plunged into the woods without hesitation.

But Zhou Fan was more worried about Nanjiang City. 'By now, the Chu Family estate is probably in chaos, and Chu Yan might not be safe either.'

As Zhou Fan suspected, at the exact moment their car exploded, the main gate of the Chu Family estate was violently kicked open and a crowd of people swarmed inside.

Fortunately, Fan had left his other members in Nanjiang City and had even dispatched Lao San and Xiaojiu to personally lead a team to protect Chu Tianxiang at the estate.

"Damn it, the boss was right," Lao San said, looking at the approaching crowd. He knew his handful of men were no match for them in a direct confrontation. "Forget the rest! Secure the main courtyard and call for backup, now!" he ordered, tightening their defensive line.

At the same time, another group of people was stealthily approaching Chu Yan's villa.

But just as they came within a hundred meters of the villa, two figures appeared like phantoms and shot into their midst.

A flash of cold light flickered, and four or five figures crumpled to the ground. Crimson blood gushed from the wounds in their necks, instantly staining the earth.

"Go on, pick one and test your skills."

An unknown voice spoke from the darkness. The panicked crowd looked to the side and saw a slender figure emerge, holding a dagger that gleamed with a cold light!
