Chapter 214: My Mom's Name Is Li Mei
"Damn it, who the fuck are you? Do you know who my mom is?" A young man with a tattooed arm, who seemed to be the leader of the group, stepped forward and swore.
"Who I am isn't important, and who your mom is isn't important either!" Chen Yao quickly turned, jogged over to Zhou Fan, and grabbed his arm, pulling him up. With a proud air, she declared, "My boyfriend said he can't stand to watch you bully people!"
At Chen Yao's words, all eyes fell on Zhou Fan.
Zhou Fan was speechless. He turned, tilted her chin up with his left hand, and whispered, "You just love making trouble for me, don't you? Just wait until we're back at the hotel. I'll deal with you then!"
"Buddy, what's your problem? You looking for trouble? Do you know who my mom is?" The tattooed punk studied Zhou Fan closely. Though he sensed this man wouldn't be a pushover, he wasn't afraid. He stepped forward and pointed a finger at Zhou Fan, demanding answers.
At the same time, the crowd behind him moved forward too, some grabbing chairs, others grabbing bottles. They actually managed to look somewhat intimidating.
"Not looking for trouble, no. But as for who your mom is, I really have no idea. Why don't you tell me? We'll see if I've heard of her." Zhou Fan couldn't help but find it amusing, dealing with a kid who immediately tried to use his connections.
"Then you better listen up. My name is Sun Wei, and my mom is Li Mei. She's a director at the Chen Group with hundreds of people under her. All it takes is one phone call, and you'll be on your knees, groveling at my feet. Got it?" Sun Wei was so arrogant he was practically looking down his nose at Zhou Fan as he spoke, even prodding him in the chest with a finger.
Zhou Fan froze for a second. 'What a small world,' he thought.
He glanced toward the entrance and saw a man standing there, staring at him with a baffled expression. Zhou Fan waved him over.
"Boss, what are you...?" Zhang Lei walked into the restaurant, glanced at Sun Wei, then back at Zhou Fan, his face a mask of confusion.
'Didn't you tell me to handle this? I haven't even made a move yet, so why are you here yourself?'
"If I said I just came here for barbecue and happened to stumble into this, would you believe me?" Zhou Fan, knowing exactly what Zhang Lei was thinking, said helplessly.
"Since you put it that way, Boss, how could I not believe you?" Zhang Lei said, though it was clear he didn't. His gaze then shifted to a girl behind the group, the same one who had been talking with Chen Yao earlier. "Boss, her name is Han Yu. Take a guess whose daughter she is."
'Han Yu?'
Zhou Fan frowned slightly, looking over at the girl. There was indeed a certain familiarity in her features. And if what Zhang Lei said was true, her father had to be someone he knew. In that case, there was only one possibility.
"Miss, is your father Han Huan?" Zhou Fan ignored Sun Wei, who was glaring at him, and with a light push, shoved him aside to walk over to Han Yu.
"How did you know? My dad said he doesn't have many friends in Nanjiang City!" Han Yu said, looking at Zhou Fan in confusion. She suddenly pulled out her phone, found an old photo in her gallery, and asked, "Is this you, the young man next to my dad?"
Zhou Fan glanced at the screen. The photo had been taken with a few of his close comrades back when Han Huan first started working for him. He nodded, then ruffled Han Yu's hair. "You can't call me that. You should call me Uncle."
"But you don't look that much older than me. 'Uncle' makes you sound so old," Han Yu protested. To her, Zhou Fan looked about twenty-five, and she was already nineteen.
"Don't worry about it. You have to call me Uncle. Otherwise, wouldn't that make me a generation younger than Old Han?" Zhou Fan pulled Han Yu to her feet and gestured for her and her friends to go join Chen Yao.
"Fuck! Are you people ever going to shut up? Didn't you hear me? My mom is Li Mei!" Seeing that they were still ignoring him, Sun Wei was furious and lunged forward to grab Zhou Fan's collar.
But the instant he made a move, Zhang Lei was a step faster, sending him to the ground with a single kick. He then pointed to the other thugs who were itching for a fight. "This has nothing to do with you. Beat it!"
"Shit, they hit Young Master Sun! Let's get 'em!" But the thugs clearly weren't intimidated and swarmed Zhang Lei all at once.
But the outcome was predictable. Within moments, Zhang Lei had kicked every single one of them aside.
"Scram! A bunch of little brats. Do you even know the first thing about fighting? Get back to your studies!" Zhang Lei cursed impatiently. Even he felt it was beneath him to fight these kids, let alone Zhou Fan.
After a quick word with Zhou Fan, Zhang Lei dragged Sun Wei away, leaving behind a crowd of stunned onlookers.
A few questions later, the full story came out. It turned out that Sun Wei and the boy he had been beating up were romantic rivals. The girl they were fighting over wasn't even there, and what's more, she hadn't said yes to either of them.
Zhou Fan rolled his eyes in exasperation. 'What a ridiculous situation.'
'So it's a fight between two simps?'
'Are they completely nuts?'
Suddenly, Zhou Fan's brow furrowed as he remembered something critically important...
