Unwritten Destiny [Yuri/Sapphic, Isekai, LitRPG]

Session 48 – On the road again

"Xena?" I knelt down and gently put a hand on her shoulder.

"M-miss?" She put a trembling hand on top of mine. "I... I'm alive."

"Yeah. Yeah, it's been about a week. If it makes you feel any better, Paz and I both died too. Although, not at the same time. I just came back an hour ago." I chuckled and smiled at the elf. It was nice to have her back.

Xena shook her head vehemently while giving me the most horrified look. "No Miss! That does not make me feel better!"

Ahh. Well. You can't please them all. I grunted and scrambled aside as Jacque almost stepped on me. "My Lady, please let me assist you! You've had the most not cool experience and you shouldn't walk yet." Xena happily relaxed into his arms as the tall dark-haired man scooped her up.

"That works. Let's get some fucking sleep." I interlaced my fingers with Paz's and we all strolled back toward town.

"Fucking Hells. This has been the most exciting week of my life!" Moira did a little dance, scooped up Sterling, and twirled in a circle as she walked. The tiny infernal girl squealed with delight as her girlfriend spun her around above her head.

"Pff. I'm glad you two are having fun. This has been the most stressful week of my life." I adjusted the Magic Bag of Stuff on my shoulder.

Paz squeezed my hand reassuringly. "There's no one I'd rather go through Hells with." I smiled over at her and squeezed her hand back.

We all trundled to the inn. Sabastian looked up and smiled broadly as we entered. "Well, how bout that. Yeh look like a proper adventuring party."

I huffed. "Every time I look away, we get a new one." I dug around in my bag and pulled out some gold coins. "We'll take all four of your rooms for the night if you don't mind."

The dwarf laughed and shook his head. "I dun' mind at all! Rest well and I'll have Anabelle fix you a proper meal in the mornin'."

"Sounds good." I gave a tired nod and trudged up the stairs. Finally back in our room again, I collapsed onto the bed with a heavy sigh.

Paz flopped down beside me and found my hand again, entwining her fingers with mine. "Fuck."

"Yeah. Ain't that the fucking truth." I stared up the ceiling. "Still. At least we don't have to eat slop."

My ginger started giggling and couldn't stop. She rolled over and rested her cheek on my boob. "I love you."

"I love you, too." I gently ran a hand through her hair, stroking her head.

"You really need a bath." My entire body tensed and I had to fight back a surge of panic. Paz jumped in my arms and looked up at me, her eyes gleaming with sadness. "Shit. Fuck. Sorry. I... I didn't even think."

My heart rate slowly came back down from 'run screaming blindly into the night' and I pulled her closer. "No, it's okay. We'll... figure it out."

"I'll just have to bathe with you from now on." She settled down into my arms and snuggled closer.

A breathy chuckle escaped my lips. "That would certainly help."

I yawned and stretched my arms over my head. Cerbe grumbled as I pulled my feet out from under him. Paz's mess of red hair was everywhere and I carefully swam my way out of it. I slipped out of her arms and wrapped myself in more layers of clothing. My breath fogged in the cold morning air; the long winter would be coming soon.

Today, we'd be meeting Dame Olivia's merchant friend and escorting him to Arcadia. The stairs creaked under my feet as I found my way downstairs. Anabelle was moving around, getting the place ready for the day.

"Good morning." I took a chair and waved to her. Cerbe curled up on the floor by my feet.

"Well, how do you do, darlin'. Good to see you up and about. Care for some breakfast?" Anabelle smiled over at me as she wiped down tables and arranged some flowers in a vase.

"Oh, yes please! And keep it coming. I'm sure my army will be down soon." I relaxed back into the chair. I had an adventuring party. My heart clenched as I thought about my players. I hoped they were doing well. My new friends were certainly a colorful bunch:

1. Xena the elf, heretical healer; kind, prim, formal.

2. Moira the human, monk; brash, headstrong, reckless.

3. Sterling the infernal/devil, sorceress; sweet, shy, reserved.

4. Jacque the changeling, blood witch; stoner, spiritual, hippie.

5. Cerbe the cerberus, hellbeast; sarcastic, witty, hilarious.

6. Alexis the infernal/devil, spell-song weaver; charming(sometimes), oblivious, hopeless in love.

7. Paz the half-elf, astral druid; beautiful, bold, curvy, commanding, vengeful, loyal, sexy, sweet(sometimes), sarcastic, blunt, fierce, caring, loving, freckled.

Speak of the hellion, and she shall appear. My wonderful girlfriend skipped down the stairs and slid a chair against mine before dropping into it. "Hey cutie." She leaned over and kissed my cheek as her hand slid under my butt.

"Hey yourself, cutie." I kissed her back and wiggled my butt against her hand.

"Blondie! Red! Oh, grub!" Jacque stumbled down the stairs, sauntered over to our table, and pulled up a chair. He started shoveling food into his face.

Xena followed, her precise steps alighting silently on the stairs and across the floor before she politely sat in the chair next to the blood witch. "Miss, Miss's Mistress, Jacque." She inclined her head toward the three of us.

I raised an eyebrow at Paz. She smirked.

Finally, Moira and Sterling came crashing down the stairs like a rampaging herd and pulled up a single chair. Moira flopped into the chair and Sterling squealed as she was pulled onto her girlfriend's lap. "Food!"

After devouring a very comforting meal, we all trouped over to Dame Olivia's forge to meet our client. "Hey, I have to go collect something. I'll meet you there." I nodded and gave my girlfriend a kiss. Paz broke off, walking in the opposite direction.

Dame Olivia took in my group with an experienced eye. "Your party has grown significantly, it would seem."

I awkwardly ran my hand through my messy hair; I still hadn't gotten used to these horns. "Yeah. It's been a fuck of a week."

The older woman nodded knowingly and then gestured to a couple standing beside her. "This is Richard, and his wife Celia. They are your precious cargo."

My head bobbed in understanding. "Understood." We followed them out to their caravan where Paz rejoined us.

"Here love, wear this." She held out a very shiny pendant.

I turned around and pulled my hair out of the way. She slipped it on me, latched the hook, and then spent longer than necessary arranging how it sat in my cleavage. My cheeks were burning as I turned back and saw a matching one resting around her neck. "What is it?"

"Protection from Detection and Intrusion; both Magical and Divine."

Paz nervously sucked in her lip as my eyebrows shot up into space. "And how did we afford that?"

"I traded some knowledge that the wizard highly valued." She looked away from my eyes.

"I... see." We were going to be talking more about that when we had privacy. "Great. So, everyone ready to go?" I got a chorus of acknowledgements and we set off for Arcadia.
