Unwritten Destiny [Yuri/Sapphic, Isekai, LitRPG]

Session 39 – Putting some game in all this roleplay

Ow. Everything was pain. My body exploded with agony as I shifted and dumped the dead man off me. I hadn't even known his name. He was just some kid being paid to guard a rich guy. His blood tasted bitter and smelled metallic. It was everywhere; pooling under my shirt and caking in my hair.

I rolled onto my side and heaved onto the floor. The lemon squares were a lot less pleasant coming back up. After that, I laid very still and focused on my raspy breathing. Maybe I would become a farmer, this adventuring stuff was brutal. Although, I guess farmers probably had it rough too, what with bandits and dire wolves and shit.

It's kinda hard to assess damage when everything is torturous throbbing, but maybe the DM would give me a hand. I groaned and tapped the rune on my wrist, flipping to the status page.

Ahh, delightful! So, I was a stubbed toe away from death and just about the only part of me that I could still use to defend myself was my left toe. Was that dramatic irony? I was gonna call that dramatic irony and the neat thing about not having the Internet is there was no one around to tell me I'm wrong.

Alright, time to stop laying about. Paz needed me. And.. up! I tried to sit up and my body creaked and fell apart as agony enveloped my everything. Nope, nope, nope! ABORT.

Alright, so what could I do to help without moving a muscle? Hmm.. nothing. The answer was nothing. No magic, I glanced down at the now broken sword, and a very broken body. I was useless. I'd just curl up here and give in to despair for now. Yes, that sounded nice.

But..

Paz needed me.

My mind shattered in pain as I pushed myself to my knees and then climbed up on unsteady legs.

New Talent Acquired

Precept of Divine Willpower

Rarity: Divine

Where others need flesh and bone and steel, you have Will. The Will to act.

What the fuck?! I stumbled over my own feet and smashed into the wall. How in the Hells did I get a Precept? You need a Divine Well to hold those! Okay then, I wasn't sure what it did. Thanks DM, for the vague description. But, I was on my feet. Time to help Paz!

I found the door and struggled out into the hallway once again. My legs didn't want to work right and I kept bumping against the walls as I attempted to put one foot in front of the other. Well, nothing was really working right. I couldn't remember feeling anything except agonizing pain. It was all consuming as it wrapped its dark claws around me and overwhelmed my memories.

Say.. If I were writing this adventure, where would I put the gold? I looked at the vault shaped door in front of me. I'd put it inside there. Actually, I'd probably put it in a toilet, because no one would want to look there. But the Elder was a lot less imaginative than that. The box of gold glimmered up at me from inside its broken chest. I dumped it into the Magic Bag of Stuff.

My silent footsteps traced along the length of the hall with its expensive tapestries as it fell before me. A door, and then I was bathed in moonlight. Specters of violence and bloodshed rose all around me. Archers, clad in leather armor and wielding heavy crossbows, lined the top of the wall that would have protected the villa, had it not already been breached. Soldiers with swords held uneasily as bastions against the unknown stood back to back and faced off against an angry panther.

Arising from shadows cast by the waning moonlight, two bold figures drew my attention to the middle of the courtyard. Sterling fired off bolts of fire and ice, her robes whipping into a frenzy as she briefly illuminated everything around her with alternating flashes of red and blue arcane energy. Moira stood as guardian sentinel in front of her, lightning-fast hands subduing any soldier who strayed too close and snatching arrows out of the air mid flight.

Like a leaf on the wind, I drifted over to the nearest soldier. He startled and drove his sword into my gut.

I looked down at the sword sticking out of me. He looked down at it, too. The sword pulled free in my hand, flipped around, and drove into him instead. The blade pulled free again and arced upwards. Another soldier grunted as he was cut open from groin to neck. Two soldiers; one of them with a spear. A slash and down one fell as the spear pierced my side.

I pulled myself off the spear and yanked it out of the stunned soldier's hands. Right hand on the blade, my left hand came up and levered the spear, smashing the handle up into his chin. Another grabbed me from behind. The tip of the spear slipped through the gap under my armpit and hot fresh blood splattered against my back. Two arrows impacted between my shoulder blades and sank deep into skin and muscle.

Moira dropped the last soldier and hugged Sterling against herself; both their bodies shaking with relief and adrenaline. The panther Shaped into my ginger as she sprinted towards me. She crashed into me and then pulled back and looked me up and down.

"Alexis! I.. you- How are you standing? Y-you're.. you're completely drenched in blood." Paz's breath caught, confusion etching itself deeper into her as she examined my wounds.

My fingers brushed her cheek in that familiar ritual we had done thousands of times before. "I love you." I pulled her against me and twisted us both around. Beam of red flashed overhead and passed an arrow like ships in the night. The former killed the last archer and the latter transitioned from twang to thump as it buried itself through my back. Everything went dark.

I opened my eyes. Oh! I was back in the room. The man I had fought still lay exactly where he died, right alongside my body. Dark crimson blood radiated out, congealing in my hair and clothes as it decayed. Wait... I stared down at my body; unmoving and unbreathing. I slowly reached down to my wrist and pressed the rune.
