Chapter 87- Leveling Demon (Part 4)
Closing the distance between them, Rize instantly slid down, dodging the monster's first paw attack as he went under the beast. The monster followed after him with its other paw, but it was a bit too slow. As he got under the beast, Rize sliced with his sword, aiming for its belly. He knew that it was perhaps an extremely tough skin to penetrate, but there was no way he could beat that thing in a show of pure strength.
He had to get smart, and smart he did. His sword pierced the monster's skin as he cut diagonally.
'Tsk! It's so thick!' He cursed as he instantly jumped out of the way just as the monster slammed down with a loud groan. 'I couldn't deal a strong blow to it.'
Looking at his sword, Rize noticed that it absorbed all the residual blood as it shone with a darker aura. The sword's skill had activated. Now, Rize had to deliver more strikes to the monster and see how it fared.
"That's easier said than done…"
Staring at the monster as it stood up, Rize realized that he had just angered it even more. Its eyes were bloodshot red, and its teeth were clenched as it growled and ran at him, shaking the ground as it moved.
Reaching Rize, it swung its paw with even more speed and aggression. Rize, however, decided not to dodge as he did something different. Flipping the sword in his hand skillfully, he aimed it at the incoming paw.
*Swish*
The sword pierced the monster's paw, exiting from the other side as it drew blood. The creature shrieked in pain. However, the moment of the hit threw Rize several dozen feet away as he slammed against a tree.
"Ugh!!!" He groaned as he held his side. "Goddamit… That wasn't a great idea. I don't know what I was thinking."
Staring up, he saw the monster jumping around in pain as the sword remained stuck in its paw. Its pained groans told Rize that he had delivered a very strong blow to it.
'But I lost the damn sword.' He clenched his teeth as he watched the monster rub it with its other paw, trying to get rid of it.
While it was busy doing that, Rize summoned Endless Hunger.
"Time for work, Endless," Rize said as he activated offensive mode. Like a hungry abomination, the tentacle turned into a sharp spear that shot forward.
The bear felt the approaching danger and instantly stopped trying to get rid of the sword and slammed the spear down. The black matter disintegrated into many pieces.
'Shit!'
For a moment, Rize panicked. However, it was very short-lived as the black matter gathered again and attacked. This time, it didn't even try to stab; rather, it wrapped around the monster's other paw. The bear tried to pull its leg away.
But, even after it broke the black arm, it resurged again and attacked it with relentless desire, as if it was trying to consume the monster.

With each passing second, Endless Hunger seemed to get more aggressive as it learned and adapted at a scary pace. The bear groaned and cried as it found itself completely helpless against the black matter.
Rize watched the entire scene unfold with great awe in his eyes. He hadn't seen Endless Hunger on the offense that much yet, so this was all new to him, and it was… terrifying to say the least.
Endless Hunger wrapped around its legs, almost like it was consuming it slowly. Rize could tell that the monster was in deep pain.
'Is it melting its leg?' Rize thought. 'Wait, dammit, I can't just stand like that.'
Instantly, Rize dashed to the side, wrapping around the area as he tried to get into the bear's blind spot. As the bear was trying to get it off of him, Rize rushed toward it from behind and leaped on top of it.
"ROAR!!" The monster shrieked as it felt Rize jump on it. The boy grabbed onto its fur and held on as it rampaged around. Luckily, gripping tightly didn't require a lot of multitasking so Rize kept the pressure on the monster's left leg.
'Come on! Fall, you big bastard!!' Rize clenched his teeth as he ordered Endless Hunger to pull. The Gift obliged and started pulling its leg.
"Hnnng!!!" Rize's face turned red as he focused all his energy on that. The monster's resistance waned as it lost its balance and fell. Using that opportunity, Rize leaped down as he grabbed his sword and pulled it.
As the monster was recovering, he rushed to its most vulnerable part, its face.
*Swish*
Stabbing down, he penetrated the monster's eyes, sinking the blade deep into its skull. The creature instantly yanked back as it threw its arms around. A loud, bone-chilling cry echoed in the entire forest as the monster rolled around.
'Shit, I need to get out of the way!!' Rize realized the real danger he was in as he dashed out of the way, barely a split second before the monster fell on the spot where he was.
Blood gushed out of its skull like an endless fountain, spraying around in a gruesome manner. For several seconds, it cried and rolled around, unable to do anything. Rize watched with a tired look on his face.
Eventually, the monster stopped moving as it lost all power and lay there, groaning while breathing heavily. He stared at it, not daring to get close until he was sure it was defeated. After that, he slowly approached it with his bloody sword by his side.
The monster stared back at him weakly, its eyes slowly losing the life within them. It appeared tame and scared, unlike how it was earlier. The look of fear made Rize blink before he…
*Swish*
His blade sank into the monster's neck. Its eyes widened before it slowly closed them and finally succumbed to death.

Instantly, Rize felt a rush of strength course through his body, one that was far stronger than anything he felt before. He stumbled back, almost losing his balance as he felt his body morph
'This bastard was a damn problem, my god.' Rize cursed as he exhaled a long breath and wiped the sweat and blood off his face.
