Chapter 28- 9 Years Later (Part 1)
Everything around Rize felt like it was shrouded in complete darkness. He was swimming in the nothingness with no sense of direction or what was up or down. He was simply swimming there, his eyes barely open as if he was drugged and could not think properly.
The feeling wasn't pleasant nor was it painful. It was simply… odd. As if Rize was in a body that wasn't his and he was unable to control any of its limbs. Still, he could see and hear, and that was what he used to make sense of his situation.
He was hearing whispers. They were very faint and barely audible. However, as time passed, the whispers became clear to him.
"Seal… Seal whichever makes the world shatter. Seal whichever ruins you." It said to him.
"H… uh?" Rize tried to understand what the voice was trying to say to him. However, his brain was too foggy to understand. "Wha…t are…you saying…?" He muttered.
However, the voice didn't answer his question and continued whispering endlessly. At the same time, Rize felt something touch his face. It was a droplet of some liquid that felt warm and sticky. Then, he felt another drip on his face, then another and another.
The rain of liquid increased in intensity rapidly to the point where it eventually covered his face and dripped down his chin and hair. The entire world around him was quickly flooded with the liquid as it started rising. Rize felt his hanging limbs touching the liquid.
"What… is that?" He muttered as he looked over his shoulder, only for the breath to halt in his throat. That red color, the consistency, the feeling… How could he mistake it for anything but what it is… Blood.
The moment he realized what that liquid was, Rize panicked, but he couldn't really move or react to it. He could only sit there and watch as it slowly increased, consuming his limbs, then his torso.
His heart raced, his breath sped up, but he couldn't escape it. Eventually, reached his ears, covering them and making him completely unable to hear anything.
"Fuh, fuh! Fuh!!!" He breathed heavily before he sucked in a deep breath and tried to close his eyes.
The blood quickly consumed him whole, and he lost the ability to breathe or see. The sheer panic he felt at that moment made his entire body shudder, and his bones shake.
"AAAAAAAGH!!"
Suddenly, Rize's eyes shot open as he rose from the bed and looked around him. He was soaked in sweat, his purple, mysterious eyes wide open, and his entire body was alert as if he was about to fight a life-or-death situation.
But, slowly, he stared left and right, realizing that he was back in his all-too-familiar room. Exhaling a long breath, Rize looked down, sweat dripping into the cover.
"That dream… again… I don't know what's happening anymore." He muttered. He didn't really notice that his voice was way deeper than before. After all, his puberty had already happened, and he started growing rapidly.
"Dammit. It has been happening every single night for a year now, and it never gets any more bearable. It always scares me, and it always makes me feel like I'm truly about to die."
Rize didn't know when it started, but it had been months of this dream happening to him, constantly, every single night. He couldn't figure out what that voice was, nor the dark space, nor the blood rain.
He couldn't figure out anything about it.
So, he decided to shake the thoughts away as usual and left his bed. Walking to the bathroom, he opened the door and stood in front of the mirror.
What welcomed him was a jaw-droppingly handsome young man. One so handsome that he would make every lady swoon over him with a mere look. His hair was now even dark of color, appearing like an abyss that consumes everything. It dropped down to his nape and his forehead. He hadn't cut it in a while, so it grew slightly longer.
His face was sharper with a stronger jawline and sharper eyes. His eyes were way more hypnotizing as they gained more wisdom, more experience, and became more lethal and mysterious. His body was also very toned and muscular, yet also lean, perfect for quick movement and sheer, crushing power.
He had a noticeable scar on his left shoulder and on the side of his torso from his brutal training, but they only added a layer to his presence. He was also now over 180 cm tall.
If Rize was a very handsome kid before, then he was now on a whole different level.
Running his hand through his hair. "Maybe I should cut it shorter." He muttered. "Now that I think about it… The time has finally come… 9 Years have truly passed."
It passed oddly quickly for Rize. He didn't even notice the days blend into one another, and before he knew it, an entire decade had passed since he came to this world. A decade that felt like several lifetimes.
Rize was now completely unrecognizable to the late Ethan. He was now a different man, a stronger, smarter, and more calculating man.
Nodding his head, he turned around and walked into the shower. After cleaning himself, he wore his usual clothes and walked out of the room.
"Sir? Where are you?" He called as he went downstairs.
"I'm here, boy."
A voice replied to him from the kitchen. Walking in, he saw Geralt sitting at the table, drinking his usual coffee and reading the news tablet.
Geralt didn't change much in the last 10 years except for an extra few strands of grey hair and a few more wrinkles that were barely visible. However, his aura and power didn't change… He was still the same old monster.
"You slept a bit later than usual today," Geralt said as he didn't lift his head from the newspaper. "Is it that nightmare again?"
"Sigh, yeah… It doesn't want to leave me be." Rize said as he sat down and started eating.
"You must be worried about something."
"Hm? Worried about something? Like what?"
"The fact that your training is coming to an end and you're going to leave this place."
"Well… I wouldn't say I'm worried about it. I'm just thinking… Wow, 10 years have passed. Now, a whole new life will start for me."
"You better keep all that I taught you in your mind. If I ever hear you're slacking, I will come and personally snap your neck."
"Don't worry, you raised a monster, old man."
"Who are you calling old man, you brat?" Geralt said coldly, while Rize just chuckled. "In any case, finish your food and go grab your suitcase. You packed up everything, didn't you?"
"Yeah, I double-checked. I'm really ready."
"When you get to the city, make sure to buy some proper clothes. I don't want you meeting His Esteemed Self in your old clothes."
"Ehhh? Wait, Sir, aren't you coming with me?" Rize asked with surprise.
"Sigh, change of plans. I have some business to deal with, so I can't come to see you yet. You will drive to the capital on your own."
"Ehhh…"
'I mean, that's a bit harsh, don't you think? This is my first day at the job, and my mentor won't even bother to come with me. I guess it's very in character, isn't it?'
