Dungeon Corpse Stacker: I Absorb Everything to Become Ominous Monarch

Chapter 132: Breaking the Hydraulic Exoskeleton

The collision did not produce an echo.

When the nine-foot forged iridium ram of the Mountain Breaker struck the center of Renan’s bare left palm, the air between the metal face and his flesh compressed so violently that the ambient nitrogen ignited in a microscopic flash of blue incandescence. The atmospheric displacement blasted outward in a flat, horizontal disc of razor-sharp shockwaves, slicing thirty feet of surface basalt into powdery white lime across a radius of two hundred yards.

Beneath Renan’s leather boots, the prehistoric rock groaned, dropping four inches in a jagged, concentric depression.

Yet Renan did not slide back a single inch.

His dark woolen coat whipped furiously behind his shoulders, his teeth bared in a tight, predatory grimace as a thin trickle of dark blood ran from his left nostril down his jawline. His fingers, pale and slender against the monstrous five-ton cylinder of solid iridium, did not snap.

Beneath his skin, the silver-violet channels of his Sovereign core pulsed with blinding brilliance, locking his physical skeleton into the tectonic mass of the entire continental shelf forty fathoms below.

Inside the neural immersion tank of the Colossus Prime, General Vance felt the impact slam through his cerebral cortex like a sledgehammer striking an iron bell.

The telemetry needles on his virtual reticle spiked into red hazard zones.

"Pressure spike on primary piston," Vance’s thought flashed through the automated diagnostic bus, his breathing shallow within the cold fluorocarbon fluid. "Forty-two thousand foot-tons registered. Zero forward displacement. The target is an immovable mass."

The four secondary hydraulic accumulators mounted along the Colossus Prime’s spine shrieked in mechanical agony.

Thick streams of boiling synthetic hydraulic fluid sprayed from the relief gaskets along the mech’s right elbow, sizzling against the hot armor plate as the machine’s four reverse-jointed legs gouged four-foot trenches into the basalt, fighting to hold their purchase against their own reflected recoil.

Renan looked up through the drifting white stone dust, his violet eyes locking onto the dark sensor slits of the sixty-eight-ton titan towering above him.

"Is this the mountain you brought from Washington, Vance?" Renan’s voice was barely a whisper, yet it vibrated through the iridium ram straight into the pilot’s neural shunt. "Forty thousand tons of pressure, and you cannot move a scavenger from his stone."

Renan closed his left hand.

His bare fingers, wrapped in a thin, microscopic film of spatial friction mana, dug half an inch deep into the solid forged iridium tip.

The indestructible metal, cooled under the pressure of deep rift volcanoes and rolled in the most advanced defense foundries of the Western Hemisphere, groaned under the impossible grip of his fingers. Deep, permanent grooves formed in the mirror-polished face of the ram as if the metal were soft modeling clay.

Inside the tank, Vance’s pulse leaped to ninety beats per minute.

"Disengage magnetic clutch," Vance ordered, his neural impulse firing into the mechanical solenoids. "Reverse hydraulic flow to auxiliary pumps. Step back twenty yards."

The Colossus Prime’s lower actuators hissed, attempting to wrench the iridium arm backward to reset its firing cycle.

Renan did not let go.

He planted his right boot firmly into the basalt, twisting his torso forty-five degrees to the right.

He did not draw upon the abyssal soldiers sleeping in the trench. He channeled five thousand units of Sovereign density directly into the palm of his left hand, focusing the entire downward mass of the scuttled British fleet resting in the Nero Trench into a single, localized point of rotational torque.

"You spent twelve billion dollars on these joints," Renan spoke softly. "Let us see what holds them together."

Renan snapped his wrist clockwise ninety degrees.

SCREEECH!

The sound was not an explosion. It was the horrifying, continuous shriek of solid titanium and hardened dwarven star-iron being subjected to lateral shear forces far beyond their structural threshold.

The primary rotational bearing inside the Colossus Prime’s right elbow sheared in two.

A cascade of three-inch steel ball bearings, crushed into misshapen lead pebbles by the rotational violence, burst through the armor housing like shrapnel, ricocheting off the basalt plateau in blinding red sparks. The two high-pressure hydraulic lines feeding the Mountain Breaker ruptured simultaneously, dumping forty gallons of superheated fluorocarbon oil across the mech’s chest, where the vapor ignited into a roaring curtain of orange chemical flame.

The forty-four-foot machine staggered violently to the left, its sixty-eight tons of mass tilting twenty degrees as its right arm fell limp, the nine-foot iridium ram dragging uselessly across the stone like a dead anchor.

Inside the immersion tank, the sudden severance of sensory feedback struck Vance’s nervous system with the force of an electric shock.

Vance gasped inside his breathing mask, his physical hands clenching in involuntary spasms as phantom nerve pain tore through his right biological arm. The neural link along his spine flashed warning after warning, his primary display turning into a wall of blinking red diagnostic ciphers.

"Right arm offline," Chief Engineer Caldwell’s voice screamed through the carrier bridge link far to the south. "Hydraulic pressure in loop Alpha has dropped to atmospheric zero! The transmission is severed! General, abort the contact! Pull the Prime back to the pontoon!"

Vance clenched his jaw so hard that the enamel of his molars groaned.

"Silence," Vance’s thought roared across the network, cold, ruthless, and burning with thirty years of unbroken military pride. "The arm is scrap. The reactor is intact. We still have fifty tons of mass."

Outside on the burning plateau, the Colossus Prime did not fall.

The four reverse-jointed legs slammed downward in unison, crushing the burning pools of oil beneath their wide steel cleats.

The slate-gray titan stabilized its center of gravity, its sloped chest plates shedding the flaming hydraulic fluid as the machine leaned forward fifty degrees. Mounted atop its left shoulder, the twin sixty-millimeter magnetic rail cannons hummed with terrifying, overcharged pitch, bypassing the automatic safety governors to dump eighty percent of the twin Westinghouse fission reactors directly into the firing coils.

Two hundred yards behind Renan, the remaining six Colossus Mark-IV mechs attempted to advance, but Shadow Knight Arthur and Shadow General Ignis blocked the stone corridor like two walls of living obsidian.

Arthur brought his silver-black claymore down in a horizontal sweep, its argent blade cleaving through the forward knee joint of the nearest Mark-IV with a clean, ringing hiss.

Ignis surged forward behind the falling machine, driving its black executioner blade through the rear reactor casing, pinning the sixty-ton wreck to the bedrock while dark dragon-fire consumed the ammunition hoists.

Renan did not look back at his knights.

He stood twenty paces from the wounded Colossus Prime, his left hand smoking with ionized grease, his void dagger resting steady in his right fist.

The air around the American titan grew unbearably hot as the twin railgun barrels began to glow cherry-red from thermal overload.

"You can break a joint, boy," Vance’s acoustic voice boomed from the mech’s chest speakers, distorted by electronic static, yet carrying the immovable weight of a seasoned field commander who had never surrendered a flag. "But you cannot break physics. At point-blank range, this reactor dumps twelve thousand megajoules into your skull. There is no trench deep enough to swallow that much fire."

Renan took a single, quiet step forward, the violet fire in his eyes spilling down across his collarbone like liquid obsidian.

He did not raise a shield. He did not seek cover behind the basalt boulders.

"Then bring your fire, General," Renan whispered into the whistling gale, raising his void dagger until the tip pointed directly between the mech’s glowing sensor slits. "Because when I crack your reactor open, I am going to swallow every volt."

The twin rail cannons fired at three paces.
