Chapter 510 - 500: Legendary Pirate
As everyone watched with confused and bewildered eyes, the Annihilation Arrow shot toward the approaching meteor like a black streak of light.
The others’ eyes widened in shock when they saw the meteor’s size. It was far larger than any of them had imagined.
With their current preparations, even if they managed to shatter the meteor as planned, their base would have inevitably suffered damage.
However, their shock was short-lived.
In the next instant, the black streak of light that was the Annihilation Arrow collided head-on with the meteor.
Compared to the meteor’s immense size, the Annihilation Arrow was so small it was almost negligible.
And yet, the moment this insignificant little thing made contact, the massive rock—which had been hurtling toward them—simply vanished.
That’s right. It vanished right before their eyes.
It dissolved into a cloud of black particles and disappeared without a trace.
The entire process took about five or six seconds. During that time, everyone stood frozen, their pupils constricting in shock. Some even forgot the work at hand, forgot to even breathe.
It took them a long while to recover after witnessing what could only be described as a terrifying spectacle.
In fact, it wasn’t just them. Even Jeanette Norris was left stunned for a long time after seeing what had just happened.
To be fair, she could have shattered that meteor with her own power. But it would have taken considerable effort, and she would have had to worry about the military base behind her and everyone in it.
After all, the base had been built with a fortune in gold and silver. It would pain her to see it suffer even the slightest damage in a non-combat situation.
And yet, the Annihilation Arrow had dealt with such a massive meteor with incredible ease.
"What a formidable arrow." ’And what a formidable creator,’
Jeanette Norris didn’t say the second part out loud.
To be honest, if the creator hadn’t immediately blacklisted The Royals who posted the bounty, she would have stopped at nothing to find them after seeing the Annihilation Arrow’s ability.
Still, even if she couldn’t resort to *any* means, her current status and position afforded her many ways to find someone.
Just then, a subordinate trotted over and leaned in to whisper in Jeanette Norris’s ear. "Marshal, we’ve brought the person you were looking for."
At those words, Jeanette Norris put the Annihilation Arrow away and gave an order to suppress all information about what had just occurred. Not a single word was to get out.
She then followed the subordinate to a private room.
Inside the room, a little girl with slightly curly hair tied in pigtails and a cool outfit was busy eating.
The little girl didn’t even lift her head at the sound of footsteps behind her, continuing to diligently tackle the delicious food before her.
Had anyone else been so disrespectful, Jeanette Norris would have had them thrown out to the Starbeasts long ago. But this person...
Jeanette Norris walked up to the girl and bowed slightly. A closer look would reveal that her smile held a hint of eagerness to please.
"Master, my apologies for troubling you to come all this way."
The little girl put down her snack, a smudge of white cream still at the corner of her mouth. Her voice, when she spoke, was clear and bright, yet it carried the weary tone of someone who had seen it all—a maturity that was utterly at odds with her apparent age.
"Go on. What is it this time?"
Who would have guessed that the master of Marshal Jeanette Norris—one of The Federation’s three most renowned Marshals—was a little girl who looked no older than seven or eight?
And who would have guessed that this same little girl was, in truth, a terrifying five hundred years old—a veritable ancient creature.
She also possessed a title known throughout the stars: the Silver-Ringed Witch.
Who could have imagined that the master of Jeanette Norris, one of The Federation’s supreme commanders, was none other than the legendary pirate who had long since vanished from the public eye—the Silver-Ringed Witch?
Jeanette Norris took out the Annihilation Arrow. "I sought you out this time, Master, because I need your help finding someone."
A look of astonishment flashed in the Silver-Ringed Witch’s eyes when she saw the Annihilation Arrow.
She turned to her disciple. "Where did you get this?"
Seeing her master’s strong reaction, she held nothing back and explained the Annihilation Arrow’s origin.
The Silver-Ringed Witch had heard of the game *Divine Soul*, but this Annihilation Arrow was something else entirely.
However, she had no intention of explaining the full significance of it to her naive disciple.
Still, she could certainly help with her disciple’s request.
Tracking was the Silver-Ringed Witch’s second innate ability.
A powerful tracking ability, it allowed her to find anyone based on the traces they left behind or the residual information on objects they had touched.
It was the very ability she had once used to hunt down and exterminate every last one of her enemies.
Without it, she would never have been able to enjoy her current, peaceful retirement.
For someone like her, a happy retirement had required being absolutely ruthless with her enemies.
She first carefully sensed the aura on the Annihilation Arrow, then said to Jeanette Norris, "This arrow is an item from a game, and it’s been handled by multiple people. Even if there’s any trace of the creator’s aura left on it, it would be extremely faint."
"What’s more, this person seems very cautious. They waited some time after crafting the item before putting it up for sale."
Hearing her master’s words, Jeanette Norris couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment, but she quickly composed herself. "It’s alright. Faint is faint. It’s better than nothing."
The Silver-Ringed Witch gave her a look that said, ’I knew you’d say that,’ before revealing the information she had managed to glean.
"Female. Age between eighteen and twenty-five... no, between eighteen and twenty. Definitely not over twenty. The aura around her is incredibly powerful. Listen to me, disciple. If you cannot befriend this person, then you must eliminate her. Do it early, and make sure it’s a single, decisive blow. Otherwise, the one who dies will be you."
Jeanette Norris was first stunned by the creator’s age—no older than twenty. But she was rendered completely speechless by her master’s subsequent warning.
After a long moment, she finally asked, "Master, is it really that serious?"
The Silver-Ringed Witch didn’t answer directly. Instead, she posed a question of her own. "Do you know why The Royals, despite committing so many heinous crimes, still remain in power today?"
"Because their ancestors were the founders of The Federation," Jeanette Norris replied.
The Silver-Ringed Witch smiled. "You’re right, but that’s not the whole story."
