Chapter 502 - 492: Bounty Order
Moira Lynch was so excited after seeing the effects of the children’s version of the Awakening Potion that she nearly jumped for joy.
She could already foresee how incredibly popular the children’s Awakening Potion would be once it was released.
However, Moira Lynch didn’t rush to put it on the market this time. Instead, she decided to stockpile some first.
She would first send this month’s batch of Awakening Potions to Redlight.
After taking care of all this, Moira Lynch was about to leave the room.
Her stomach was rumbling a bit; she was ready to go get a meal.
This latest entry into the game had been so sudden that many people hadn’t had time to prepare.
Although there was no shortage of food on Aquaria, it was impossible to have a relaxing meal in such a dangerous environment.
Moira Lynch had her spatial storage and wasn’t short on supplies, but even she couldn’t eat properly in those conditions. It was more about just filling her stomach; flavor was a secondary concern.
Especially on the last day, when she was so focused on treating as many Dindalons as possible, she had just been scarfing down Energy Bars whenever she got hungry.
Just as Moira Lynch was about to leave the room, Patience suddenly issued a series of warnings.
[WARNING! WARNING!!!]
Hearing the urgency in Patience’s tone, Moira Lynch’s first reaction was that there was danger nearby.
But on second thought, the Black Wolf and the Ghost Cat Owl lived on the island—they would have surely detected any danger. Besides, the Heavenly Eye was constantly patrolling the island, and she hadn’t withdrawn her spiritual power.
’Could something have happened on Caelus?’
’That possibility isn’t very high either.’
’Or maybe something happened to one of the other planets?’
At this thought, Moira Lynch’s mind first went to the three planets currently under development, and then to the more recent red planet, Calidia.
Moira Lynch had named it Calidia—a simple and direct name.
After discovering that Calidia had vast underground water resources, Moira Lynch had decided to develop it into the largest hot spring park.
However, this wasn’t something that could be accomplished overnight. Calidia was still in the development phase.
’For now, the name probably just serves to confuse others.’
But this time, Moira Lynch had guessed wrong. It wasn’t Caelus that was in danger, nor was it any of the other planets.
"Patience, what happened?" Moira Lynch asked.
[I just discovered a bounty on you in The Adventurer’s Guild, Master. And there’s more than one!!]
After hearing Patience’s words, Moira Lynch froze for a moment, wondering if she had misheard.
’A bounty?’
’On me?’
’Why is it that I understand every word Patience said, but when strung together, they make no sense?’
’Seriously, who on earth is putting a bounty on me? They must have too much time on their hands.’
’And there’s more than one!’
Grumbling inwardly, Moira Lynch opened the Adventurer’s internal system.
The Adventurer’s Guild had its own network, which allowed adventurers to accept quests and register their identities at any time.
She opened the quest board and clicked on the bounty section.
Posting a quest and posting a bounty were two different things.
Regular quests were varied, usually involving finding a specific item or material, hunting a certain creature, or exploring an unknown planet.
But for something to appear on the bounty list, it was either an urgent, high-risk mission that needed to be completed quickly, or it was a bounty on someone’s head.
As far as Moira Lynch was concerned, the bounty list was no different from an assassination list.
The two A-rank fugitives Moira Lynch had captured before had also been on this list, and the prices on their heads had been quite high.
After opening the bounty list, she started searching from the top. In the eighties, she found the bounty Patience had mentioned.
When Moira Lynch saw the details of the bounty, she instantly breathed a sigh of relief.
The bounty was for her in-game identity.
Well, that wasn’t entirely accurate, since she had never revealed her identity in the game.
However, based on the bounty’s description, it seemed the other party already knew she was the Carefree Lord.
’In the end, this is all just trouble caused by me being too exceptional.’
After reading the bounty details, Moira Lynch started looking for who posted it.
There was another difference between bounties and quests: quests could be posted anonymously, but for bounties, the poster’s information was public.
They had supposedly been confidential in the past, but after a certain incident, the identities of bounty posters were made public.
The story went that someone had anonymously posted a bounty for the head of an S-rank expert.
The S-rank expert, unhappy about the bounty, demanded to know the poster’s identity, but The Adventurer’s Guild refused outright, claiming it would damage their credibility to reveal a client’s identity.
Normally, anyone else in this situation would have either kept pestering them or looked for other methods.
But this S-rank expert was clearly a different breed.
He was already annoyed about the bounty, and now The Adventurer’s Guild was making things worse. Plus, since they provided the platform for the bounty in the first place, he decided to settle all scores, new and old, at once.
The S-rank expert went and smashed up The Adventurer’s Guild headquarters, killed a fair number of people, and even leaked the information of everyone who had posted anonymous bounties at the time, triggering a considerable bloody storm.
Since then, the rules of The Adventurer’s Guild had changed.
Soon, Moira Lynch found the person who had posted the quest: Faye Lathan.
Seeing the surname, Moira Lynch paused for a moment. This was the first time she had seen this surname outside of the *Baijiaxing*.
"Patience, can you find any information on this person?" Moira Lynch asked.
She asked, but she didn’t hold out much hope. There’s an old saying: "For every policy from above, there’s a countermeasure from below."
Ever since bounties required real names, anyone who truly wanted to post one would never do it themselves. They would find a stand-in to avoid potential retaliation.
But to Moira Lynch’s surprise, Patience quickly pulled up the person’s file.
Because "Lathan" wasn’t some ordinary surname—it was a Royal surname. And Faye Lathan was none other than the Seventh Princess of The Royal Court.
[Master, this Seventh Princess is a mix of human, elven, and Dragonkin blood. She is currently another representative of The Royal Court, aside from the Thirteenth Princess. Generally, her actions represent the stance of The Royal Court.]
The implication was that this bounty was most likely issued by The Royal Court itself, not a personal act of the Seventh Princess.
Next, Moira Lynch checked the other bounties. As expected, they were all posted using stand-ins, but based on the identities of these proxies, she could make some educated guesses about who was behind them.
After Patience conducted a thorough trace, Moira Lynch stared at the results laid out before her. She fell silent.
