Marvel: Reincarnated as Superman

Chapter 168: Back Home

The Bifrost dropped Daniel and Thor off in the suburbs of New York. Once they reached the city proper, Daniel took Thor straight back to his villa in Long Island.

“Nowhere near as nice as my place,” Thor muttered as he stepped inside.

Daniel ignored the comment and walked in after him.

“Welcome home, sir,” Ultron’s voice suddenly rang out.

Thor paused, looking around in surprise at the unfamiliar voice. Then, as if he owned the place, he helped himself to the TV, dropped onto the sofa, and continued offering his commentary.

Daniel clenched his fists, itching to punch him, but managed to restrain himself in the end.

Either way, Thor would be getting out of here soon. Daniel had no intention of letting Thor stay at his house. Having just gotten back, how could he not have a wild, passionate reunion with Susan?

“Ultron, set up an identity for him,” Daniel instructed, then walked into the bedroom.

By the time Daniel came back out, Thor had somehow fished out a bag of potato chips. He was drinking soda and watching TV with full relish, bursting into loud laughter whenever something funny happened, making the whole house shake.

“Keep it down,” Daniel said.

Even though Daniel’s house was huge, Thor’s laughter was so loud it could be heard a mile away, which was definitely going to draw noise complaints.

“What’s wrong with me laughing?” Thor remarked, then burst out laughing again at another joke on screen.

“Hahaha.”

He even turned to Daniel and said, “You Midgardians might be weak, but you sure have a talent for comedy.”

Daniel couldn’t hold back anymore and slapped Thor across the head. The strike left Thor dazed for a couple of seconds. Once he snapped out of it, he flew into a rage.

“You dare hit me?” Thor roared. He reached out his hand to summon his hammer. Mjolnir, resting on the floor, immediately flew right into Thor’s hand.

“Just because you can lift Mjolnir doesn’t make you the God of Thunder, mortal.”

Thor was still sore about Daniel being able to pick up his hammer. Whatever drinking camaraderie they had built up was gone; right now, Thor just wanted to beat Daniel up.

Part of the blame lay with Odin. Odin had been too pushy and hadn’t cared about Thor’s feelings, constantly telling him to get along with Daniel because Daniel was strong and could help him. That had immediately annoyed Thor, who originally held a decent impression of Daniel.

Thor raised his hammer, ready to charge at Daniel.

Not wanting to wreck his own home, Daniel had no intention of fooling around. At full speed, before Thor could even react, Daniel snatched the hammer from his hand and pressed it against Thor’s head.

“Uhh…”

Thor was caught off guard. He knew Daniel was strong and that he might not be able to beat him in a fight, but he hadn’t expected Daniel to be this powerful, to take him down so effortlessly.

Thor stood frozen, calling for his hammer in his mind. Mjolnir twitched slightly in Daniel’s grip but ultimately stayed pinned right against Thor’s head.

“Fine. I’m off my game today. You win, so I’ll keep it down,” Thor instantly backed off.

Daniel ignored him and asked Ultron, “Is his identity set up?”

“All set, sir. Someone from Stark Industries will be delivering a driver’s license shortly.”

“Good.”

Daniel nodded, then turned to Thor. “Once your ID gets here, get out of my house.”

“How can you be like this?” Thor said with a look of quiet resentment.

Seeing Daniel kick him out actually made Thor reluctant to leave. “You promised my father you’d help me. Besides, I didn’t kick you out when you were in Asgard.”

“Your father sent you to Earth to learn. What good does sitting in my house do? Go out, walk around, and experience our human society. It’ll do you good. Here.”

Daniel handed Thor two hundred thousand dollars in cash.

“Don’t come looking for me until you’ve spent all of it,” Daniel said.

“What is this?” Thor asked, taking the money.

“It’s money.”

“I’ve never needed money in Asgard.”

“Well, you’re on Earth now, so you need it.”

Seeing Thor’s dismissive look made Daniel quite annoyed. If he weren’t trying to keep Thor from bothering him, Daniel wouldn’t have given him a single cent.

…..

After briefing Thor on some basic etiquette on Earth, Daniel kicked him out the door.

“Finally, he’s gone.”

Daniel hummed a cheerful tune. With no third wheel around, he could finally enjoy a sweet world of just him and Susan.

Checking the time, he saw it was almost time for Susan to get off work. Daniel changed into a leather jacket, dressed himself up like a cowboy, hopped on a Harley, and headed off to pick her up.

Arriving at the lab building, Daniel sat on his motorcycle and waited for Susan.

Susan had no idea Daniel was coming back today, as he had deliberately kept it a secret, planning to surprise her.

After waiting for more than ten minutes, Susan still hadn’t come downstairs. Curious about what was taking so long, Daniel used his Super Vision to see what she was doing. It turned out Reed had stopped her before she could leave.

“Sorry, I need to go home and rest,” Susan said.

“Just a little longer,” Reed insisted. “There are still a few things I want to go over with you. We finally got the new research data, and I think we should take another look at the results.”

Susan glanced at the time and shook her head. “We can continue tomorrow. I’m really tired today.”

Reed hesitated, then nodded. “All right. Tomorrow, then.”

Daniel watched the exchange from outside, his expression gradually relaxing. So, without wasting any more time, he walked straight into Reed’s lab.

“Susan, I’m back.”

“Who are you? And why are you in here?” Reed asked, feeling oddly annoyed for some reason.

“You’re back?” Susan’s voice was soft, her face breaking into a radiant smile.

“Did you miss me?”

The moment Daniel said it, he pulled Susan straight into a deep kiss.

“Let’s go home.”

Daniel wrapped an arm around Susan’s waist, and the two turned to leave.

Daniel had originally planned to cause trouble for Reed, but seeing Susan’s reaction made him overjoyed, so he couldn’t be bothered to waste time on Reed anymore.

Reed quietly watched Susan and Daniel walk away together. For some reason, he felt a deep pang of discomfort in his chest.

…..

“When did you get back?” Susan asked, hugging Daniel’s waist from behind on the Harley.

“Came straight to find you the moment I got back,” Daniel said.

Susan was clearly happy with his answer and hugged him even tighter. Daniel couldn’t help feeling a little smug. Good thing he’d come back, and this time, he wasn’t planning on going anywhere.

“I’m not leaving this time,” Daniel told her.

“Really?” Susan looked pleasantly surprised.

“Really.”
