My Farming Domain Is Broken

The reward panel appeared above the ruined field.

--

Carlos read through everything while sitting in the mud.

The rewards were valuable, but none of them made the destroyed wheat stand again.

Though there was one that he inspected. The Crop Recovery Solution.

--

Crop Recovery Solution

Uncommon Grade

Restores the health of a damaged living crop.

Cannot revive destroyed crops.

--

Carlos gave all ten bottles to Rowan.

"Use them on the most valuable plants that can still be saved."

The Farmer nodded and immediately returned to the fields.

Carlos used one Building Repair Kit on the Mana Spring.

Golden light covered the cracked stone.

[Mana Spring repaired]

The second kit repaired the kitchen wall and the worst damage to the wooden barriers.

Everything else would need ordinary wood, stone and labor.

Mira approached the dead boars.

"The bodies are still fresh," she said. "If we process them soon, we can save a lot of meat."

"Do you know how?"

"I know how to separate usable cooking meat, but I need proper knives and clean tables."

Carlos opened the upgraded Tool Workshop.

[New production request created]

[Iron Butcher Knife x2]

[Large Cutting Table x1]

Mira smiled.

"I will begin as soon as they are ready."

Brann walked out of the damaged Common Farmland.

Blood covered his fur and armor. He rested the hammer over one shoulder and looked across the territory.

"Farm still stands," he said.

"Most of it."

Brann looked at the dead Granary Devourer and then at Carlos. There was a shine in his eyes.

"You fight well."

[Brann Favorability increased by 10]

--

Favorability: 30/100

--

The Bearkin returned to his hall to rest.

That was all he had to say.

Carlos drank a Medium Recovery Potion and opened the Raid Completion Chest.

[Raid Completion Chest opened]

[Territory Guard Tower Blueprint x2]

[Iron Wall Section Blueprint x1]

[Basic Defensive Formation Book x1]

The rewards were clearly influenced by how close enemies had come to his fields and buildings.

Carlos stored them and opened the chat.

Cosmic had already sent several messages.

--

[Cosmic Merchant]- Are you alive?

[Cosmic Merchant]- The raid ended here twenty minutes ago.

[Cosmic Merchant]- Carlos?

--

Carlos frowned.

His own raid had only just finished.

--

[Carlos Goldwin]- I am alive. How many waves did you have?

[Cosmic Merchant]- Two.

[Carlos Goldwin]- Only two?

[Cosmic Merchant]- What do you mean only?

[Cosmic Merchant]- The first had eight Grey Wolves. The second had twelve Armed Kobolds. My troops almost died man...

[Cosmic Merchant]- Both of my Lizardmen are injured beyond measure.

--

Carlos looked at One and Brann.

They were injured, but neither was close to death this time.

--

[Carlos Goldwin]- You defeated the whole raid with two Lizardmen?

[Cosmic Merchant]- Barely. One has a broken arm and the other’s scales were cut open. I used every recovery item I had.

[Cosmic Merchant]- How many enemies did you get? Please say something normal this time please. But it did say the difficulty depended on the development.

--

Carlos sent the raid record.

--

[Wave 1: Razorback Boars x20]

[Wave 2: Ironbeak Locusts x300]

[Final Wave: Ironjaw Field Rats x50, Granary Devourer x1]

--

Cosmic did not respond.

A lot of time passed but there was no response until there was.

--

[Cosmic Merchant]- That is not a beginner raid by any means. I know for a fact if I had received that raid, I would have died, Carlos. This is not normal.

[Carlos Goldwin]- The system said the farm’s development made the raid that way

[Cosmic Merchant]- I am checking it again. You just fought three waves and a Level 5 Raid Boss, Carlos...

[Carlos Goldwin]- Yes.

--

Carlos opened the raid information.

He hadn’t seen the adjustment messages when the boars appeared.

Now he expanded them.

--

[Raid Scaling Record]

[Base Raid Strength established]

[Territory Level 2: Raid Strength increased]

[Rare-grade buildings detected: Raid Strength increased]

[Epic-grade cultivated crop detected: Raid Strength increased]

[High daily production detected: Raid Strength increased]

[High stored resource value detected: Raid Strength increased]

[Territory area exceeds defensive coverage: Raid Strength increased]

[Final adjustment: Major]

--

Carlos read the list slowly.

The raid had not become so difficult because he was unlucky.

It had become difficult because his territory looked strong to the system.

He had an Epic crop, multiple upgraded production buildings, a Rare barrack, large fields and valuable resources.

But most of that strength could not fight.

Wheat could not stop a boar.

A kitchen could not kill a Raid Boss.

The system counted what Carlos owned, then sent enemies capable of threatening it.

--

[Carlos Goldwin]- My development made the raid stronger.

[Cosmic Merchant]- Then stop building for a while.

--

Carlos looked at the damaged territory.

Stopping would keep the next raid smaller.

But, it would also keep him weak.

--

[Carlos Goldwin]- No.

[Cosmic Merchant]- No?

[Carlos Goldwin]- If development makes the raids stronger, I need my military strength to grow faster than my development.

[Cosmic Merchant]- Carlos, this level of danger isn’t supposed to be there in the first wave. There are a bunch of more to come.

[Carlos Goldwin]- That is why I cannot wait.

--

Carlos closed the chat.

The Rankings section had unlocked after the raid.

He opened it.

--

[Beginner Lord Rankings]

[Carlos Goldwin]

Territory Development Rank: 7

Production Rank: 1

Conquest Progress Rank: 3

Military Strength Rank: 18,416

Defensive Coverage Rank: 22,091

--

Carlos stared at the final two numbers.

His territory was one of the most developed among the new Lords.

Its ability to defend that development was lower than thousands of others.

The Bearkin Hall could summon one Guardian every day. The Blue Water Slime Barrack could do the same, but he had stopped summoning because of the Slime Core food cost.

That caution had left him with only two real troops.

Carlos opened his inventory.

Three Lucky Draw Tickets remained.

Two Guard Tower Blueprints, an Iron Wall Blueprint and a Defensive Formation Book waited beside them.

He also possessed enough raid resources to start building immediately.

Carlos selected all three Lucky Draw Tickets.

[Would you like to use Lucky Draw Ticket x3 at the same time?]

"Yes."

The tickets disappeared.

[Three independent Lucky Draws have begun]

Three different wheels appeared in front of him.

Seeds, resources, buildings, equipment, troops and countless unknown items moved across them.

And then, all three wheels began to spin.
