Vivians POV"Trick is waking her up and getting her back home without being noticed," the same male said. Then a low curse.
"Maybe if we throw something, she’ll wake up and get scared enough to leave," another male suggested, sounding overly enthusiastic about this plan.
A smack followed. "Quiet! No, you idiot," a new female snapped. "She’s a wolf. If something spooked her, she’d probably run toward it, not away. And stop talking. Her senses are like his. He told us to be extra cautious around her."
My heart picked up speed.

What was going on? And why did I suddenly feel like I was sitting at the center of something much larger than I understood?
"Why do we always get the tough gigs? I heard the others are having the time of their lives beating down every idiot trying to sneak in," one of the women groaned.
My brows pulled together.
Wait. Someone was trying to get in? Now?
That couldn’t be right. My parents told me the random abductions had ended last week while I was away with... who was I with again? My cousin. Lily. Yeah. I remembered now. But even that memory felt hazy, like smoke that kept slipping away before I could hold onto it.
"Because he trusts us with her more than the rest," a man answered, voice low and serious.
Her. Did that mean they were guards? Watching someone? Watching me?
Then why were they at the park?
"So, what’s the plan?" another asked after a moment.
My brain was still groggy, not quite firing on all cylinders, but curiosity was starting to win over the fog. I stayed completely still and listened.
As they argued, I peeked one eye open. The sun was still hanging lazily in the sky. I must’ve been out for twenty or thirty minutes. My eyes slid carefully toward the voices, which were gradually getting louder.
Through the trees, I could see them clearly even from this distance. Too clearly. I wasn’t using my wolf’s senses, or at least I didn’t think I was, and yet there they were, visible in detail I shouldn’t have been able to make out from here.
