Sher Aka’s Training II
Sitting on the porch as the sun goes up, the King joins Sher Aka, “Oh? I guess you not running off means you’re ready?”
“If I want to beat a monster like you, I need to know your tricks.”
”In that case our first training goal will be for you to learn not to pass out from pain.”
“Wha- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!”
Having been sliced in half again, this time bisecting her into upper and lower body, Sher aka screams her lungs out once more.
“Screaming is good, it means you’re still awake. Try to stay conscious…Passed out again…Sigh This will take awhile. Nico!?”
“Yes!?”
“Can you get some food started!? She’ll need some nutrients!”
“Do it yourself!”
“I can’t cook!”
“Groan Fine!”
About two hours later, Sher Aka wakes up in a bed, screaming and checking her body.
The doctor then walks over to her and says, “Looks like you’re awake again. Food is ready, you need to replenish your body.”
“...Is he just going to cut me in half again after that?”
“Nope, your mana reserves were mostly depleted. He’ll probably do some stamina training with you for the rest of the day instead. Either way you’re gonna want to eat.”
“Alright…”
Over the next two weeks, everyday the King cuts Sher Aka up in horrible ways then, once she passes out and regains consciousness, trains her until she can’t move anymore. On the sixteenth day of the training however, Sher Aka doesn’t pass out.
“Good, keep going. You’re almost done regenerating.”
“OOOOH! I fucking hate you!”
“Yeah, that’s good! Keep your spirits high, haha!”
“Aaaaand looks like you’re done.”
Huff Huff
“Time to get up now and run two miles.”
“What?”
“I said go and run. You just survived an attack now you need to run away. Go.”
Getting up Sher Aka almost falls over, “Ugh What’s with that pain?”
“Your nerves have freshly regrown so they’re a little sensitive. You’ll be fine once you get to running, now go!”
Trying to run, Sher Aka falls over many times but eventually gets it done.
“Good, now we eat, then we train.”
“Huff So is the entire training just you cutting me up and me building up stamina?”
“Of course not, this all just prep to make sure you don’t die when we start.”
“Start what exactly?”
“Descending the levels of Tartarus. That place is full of dangerous beasts, hostile terrain, bandits and more. In short it is the perfect training ground.”
“There are bandits inside the lower level of Tartarus?”
“Bandits, assassins, traitors…In a place that is deadly no one looks for what happened to a body after someone dies, so whether it is monsters or people it doesn’t really matter. This attracts a lot of people who want to kill adventurers and explorers so they can take their stuff. Tartarus is one of the view places that is perpetually in warring times.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, these are peaceful times. Law is mostly upheld through peaceful means and life has value. This isn’t true in Tartarus. Once you pass the Humming Cave of Light you have entered a lawless land where no laws govern the land and only the strong rule. A place of absolute freedom or in short, a living hell. There have been many that have gone insane in that place and emerged from it as bigger monsters than the ones they were originally planning to hunt.”
“Like who?”
“Let’s see…There is one they just caught recently who went insane in there. I believe his adventuring name was Wolf Knight.”
“Never heard of him.”
“Perhaps you know him by his more infamous name, Rookie Killer Rayden.”
“What? He got caught!?”
“Yep, I believe Shara Seleen, a retired S-Ranked adventurer, personally captured him.”
“So he’s finally fucked, Tiahahaha.”
“Some personal history, huh? Not that I care. Come on, lunch is getting cold.”
A few more weeks of training pass until the King is finally satisfied with Sher Aka’s skills.
Sitting at the dinner table the King says, “You’re now good enough to dive into hell and have a chance of surviving. We’ll leave for Tartarus tomorrow.”
“Are you going to cut me up in there too?”
“Nope, in fact you’d better not have gotten too used to being cut up. If you don’t take this seriously we won’t even get past the third level. Don’t take any chances, you need to avoid getting hit as much as possible.”
“So, you spent the last few weeks training me not to fear getting cut up only to tell me that?”
“Yep. Like I said you have infinite second chances now, not third chances or fourth chances. If you get hit in a lethal spot twice it’s over. Not even I will be enough to help you if that happens. If you don’t intend to enter with the mindset of never wanting to get hit, our training will end here.”.
“...”
“I understand, I’ll be careful. I need to survive for Rose’s sake afterall.”
The doctor asks, “Who is Rose? Someone important to you?”
“...”
Sher Aka looks at him baffled. “Noo…Come on has he not told you?”
“Told me what? Carlo?”
“Oh…Did I forget to tell you?”
“Tell me what?”
“You have a new niece. Surprise! Yaaaay~”
“Excuse me!? When the fuck were you going to tell me that you had another child!?”
“I thought I already did, hahaha.”
“Nah! Nuh uh! Don’t just laugh this off! Because of you Ruby probably thinks I don’t care! By Ifrit’s flame…I need to get a gift together. How long has she been roosting? Also if your wife is roosting, why the hell are you here with another woman!? Don’t tell me you’re having an affair!?”
“Hahaha, I’m not. She hasn’t been roosting, actually Ifrit created our little Rose for us personally.”
“What!? Carlo, you better explain everything, now!”
