Chapter 300: Distributing Spirit Stones
"It’s most likely impossible. In any case, this enhancement technique has been passed down for so long, and there’s never been a record of anyone achieving that," Chu Tianshan said.
Since that was the case, Chu Feng decided not to waste any more words.
Soon enough, Chu Tianshan had explained the technique to him.
After memorizing it, Chu Feng had a general idea of what it was: a Divine Soul Secret Skill.
Such skills were incredibly rare and had been considered precious throughout history.
’So that’s how it is. This is why it injures the Divine Soul.’ It dawned on Chu Feng after he got a general understanding.
The Secret Skill worked by forcibly enhancing one’s Divine Soul. While it did provide a boost, the after-effects and side effects were severe.
Especially since Chu Tianshan’s Divine Soul was weak to begin with, the resulting injuries were particularly grave.
However, Chu Feng’s Divine Soul was powerful. He could probably use the skill once or twice without any issues. But even he wouldn’t be able to withstand it if he used it too many times.
Of course, given Chu Feng’s current cultivation realm, he estimated he could only maintain the effect for less than a day.
This was unlike Chu Tianshan, whose cultivation realm was a bit weaker.
Although Chu Feng could only use it for a shorter period, his superior Divine Soul Strength meant the resulting power boost would be far greater.
As the sky began to brighten, Chu Tianshan’s body started to tremble, his face growing deathly pale.
"Ancestor, what’s wrong?" Chu Wuji asked hurriedly when he saw Chu Tianshan.
"I’m fine. Wuji, go and take out all the Spirit Stones we have hidden. Give half to Chu Feng, and the rest are yours," Chu Tianshan said weakly.
He felt like he was on the verge of death, so he was settling his affairs.
"Ancestor!" Chu Wuji exclaimed, his face etched with anxiety.
"Just listen and do as I say!" Chu Tianshan said, glaring.
"Yes!" Chu Wuji replied, his face a mask of reluctance and resentment.
"What the hell? You old codger, you’re only giving me half?" Chu Feng demanded, his own eyes widening.
"You should be content. Half is fifteen stones! We’ll talk next time. I need to leave now, or I’m really going to kick the bucket," Chu Tianshan said.
He wasn’t exaggerating. He was in genuine agony, and if he didn’t leave, others would surely notice. That would be a complete loss of face.
So the old man made a hasty exit.
Besides, he now had plenty of Celestial Profound Grass to treat his Divine Soul’s injuries, so he wasn’t overly concerned.
In truth, however, he knew he likely only had a few years left. After all, at his level of Cultivation, his lifespan wouldn’t increase unless he achieved a breakthrough.
Chu Feng didn’t waste any time. He took his wife’s hand and said to Chu Wuji, "Well then, Clan Leader, lead the way."
"Well... Chu Feng, why don’t you return to the clan and stay for a while?" Chu Wuji suggested.
"We’ll see. I don’t have time today," Chu Feng replied.
The group then arrived at the hiding place for the Spirit Stones. As agreed, Chu Feng took his fifteen.
In reality, they were oblivious to the fact that hiding the stones this way meant any powerful Cultivator passing by could easily discover them.
The fluctuations of Spiritual Qi were so strong in this area that they were easily detectable.
They would need to be stored in something like Jade Boxes to effectively block the leakage of Spiritual Power.
"Sigh, it’s such a waste for you useless lot to have so many. Clan Leader Chu, you have fifteen stones. How about you give my wife two of them?" Chu Feng said.
"What? Didn’t you just get fifteen stones? And you’re asking me to give her some? Why don’t you give her some of yours?" Chu Wuji’s eyes widened in disbelief.
But Chu Feng wasn’t one for pleasantries. He simply reached out and snatched two stones.
"Hey now, Clan Leader Chu, it’s not like you all have any use for these Spirit Stones anyway. I, on the other hand, have great plans for them. See ya."
With the Spirit Stones in hand, Chu Feng turned to leave.
Just then, Chu Wuji sighed. "Ah, forget it. He’s right, it is a bit of a waste for them to stay with us."
He had actually tried using many of the Spirit Stones himself, but to be honest, the effect was minimal. The absorption process was incredibly slow.
"In that case, how about you give me a few more?" Chu Feng said, reaching out again.
Chu Wuji hastily dodged. "No! You’ve taken more than enough already! Here, take this. You can come back anytime." Chu Wuji tossed a Token to Chu Feng and then beat a hasty retreat.
"Hey! Why are you running so fast? It’s not like I’m going to eat you!" Chu Feng shouted after him.
But Chu Wuji didn’t look back; in fact, he seemed to run even faster.
"Alright, that’s enough. You’ve already taken so many. Aren’t you satisfied yet?" Su Miaoke said with a laugh.
"You don’t get it. It really is a waste for those Spirit Stones to stay in their hands," Chu Feng said with a sigh.
"Besides, these Spirit Stones are precious and extremely rare. This is the Dharma Decline Era, and the Spiritual Qi is thin. If you want to break through, Spirit Stones are your greatest asset. Without them, it’s almost impossible," Chu Feng explained.
"Why?" Su Miaoke asked.
"Because times have changed," Chu Feng sighed. "It’s not like the old days when the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi was abundant. Back then, you could achieve a breakthrough in the great mountains and rivers even without Spirit Stones. Now, the Spiritual Qi is just too thin. You can only rely on Spirit Stones, which is why the path of the Martial Dao is all but extinct."
