Chapter 281: The Gathering
"I’m surprised Young Master Chu Feng still remembers me," Chu Wushuang said with a smile.
"Stop calling me Young Master. I’m older than you, so just call me brother," Chu Feng said to Chu Wushuang. He didn’t like the title.
"Alright, Brother Feng. The meeting is about to start, so let’s head to Wangyue Tower. The Ancestor and the Family Head will be here soon too," Chu Wushuang said.
"Oh? Even those two old geezers are coming? We’re just picking an agent, right? Why are so many people here? Why such a big production?" Chu Feng asked.
"I’m not sure. But since the Ancestor and the Family Head are coming in person, I guess it must be something important. Brother Feng, you can ask them later," Chu Wushuang said.
"Alright, let’s go," Chu Feng said, nodding.
Just then, Chu He came running up, panting for breath.
"Chu Feng, how are you so much faster than me?" Chu He said, astonished.
"It wasn’t by that much. We were just fooling around," Chu Feng said with a smile.
In reality, he had arrived more than half an hour before Chu He. It just showed that Chu He was far, far slower than him.
"I thought you were still behind me, so I waited for you for a long time," Chu He said between ragged breaths, obviously exhausted.
Afterward, the group went straight inside Wangyue Tower.
Wangyue Tower was rumored to have cost over a billion to build. All the materials used were of the highest quality, and it featured an all-wood construction.
It covered a huge area, with an equally spacious interior and many rooms.
"Brother Feng, that room to the side is yours. For this meeting at Wangyue Tower to recruit agents, you’re in full charge. You have the final say," Chu Wushuang said.
"I’m not dealing with any of this. You guys handle it however you want. I’m going to get some rest." Chu Feng turned and walked away without a second thought, wanting nothing to do with it.
’Did I come all this way just to run this meeting? Are they crazy?’
Su Miaoke, holding onto Chu Feng’s arm, couldn’t help but stifle a laugh. She knew his personality all too well: if he could palm off a responsibility, he wouldn’t hesitate for a second.
After all, when she had asked him to take a management position at her company, he had refused, preferring to work as a security guard instead.
Chu Feng and Su Miaoke entered the room. It was quite large, and its decor blended traditional style perfectly with modern amenities, so nothing felt out of place.
"Now this is much more comfortable," Chu Feng said as he flopped onto the bed.
"Honey, maybe we should just leave? I have a feeling this meeting is about more than just agents. Do you think there’s going to be a fight?"
"Doesn’t the Chu Family have a deep-seated feud with the Qing Gang? With the Chu Family acting this openly, would the Qing Gang really just let them hold this meeting? Won’t they use this as an opportunity to get revenge? If that happens, we’ll be in danger."
Su Miaoke began analyzing the possibilities. After all, you don’t build an enterprise as large as hers without having some keen intuition.
"Don’t overthink it," Chu Feng said. "We’re just here to have fun and do whatever we want. If they want to fight, let them fight. What does it have to do with us? As long as they don’t come looking for trouble with us, we’re fine."
He wasn’t particularly concerned. If anyone dared to provoke him, he wouldn’t show any mercy.
’Besides, with my current strength, who is there to fear?’
’So what if the Qing Gang’s Gang Leader himself shows up? So what if that legendary Martial Dao master from the Qing Gang—the one said to have reached the pinnacle of human achievement—comes?’
’If they dare to come after me, I’ll make them regret it.’
After some time, a knock came from the door.
Chu Feng groggily woke up. He was just about to go open the door when it was pushed open.
"What’s all this? You’re still in here sleeping?" Chu Tianshan remarked as he swaggered into the room.
"What are you and your little wife doing, hiding in here in broad daylight?" Chu Tianshan asked.
Su Miaoke, who had also gotten up from the bed, blushed at his words, feeling very embarrassed.
"You old coot, you’re this old and you’re still spouting nonsense. Can’t you see we’re in the middle of our Cultivation?" Chu Feng shot Chu Tianshan an exasperated look and said, speechless.
"Hey, hey, hey! I’m your Ancestor, you know! Is that any way to speak to your Ancestor? Get up, quick. You’re in charge of this agent recruitment meeting. How are we doing on candidates?" Chu Tianshan said.
"You’re asking me? Who am I supposed to ask?" Chu Feng retorted.
"I heard your father-in-law is a businessman. Couldn’t he do it? That would keep it all in the family," Chu Tianshan said.
"Forget it. Don’t even think about it," Chu Feng said. "If my father-in-law wants to practice Cultivation, I can teach him myself. There’s no need for him to be an agent. It’s not like I don’t have any Cultivation Techniques."
"Our Chu Family’s Cultivation Techniques are not to be taught to outsiders. You need to be mindful of that. Also, your little wife... she’s practicing the Taiqing Sword Technique, isn’t she?" Chu Tianshan said, having sensed the aura emanating from Su Miaoke.
"She is," Chu Feng said.
"Fine. It’s not a problem for your wife to practice it, but don’t go teaching it to anyone else. Now let’s get a move on. Almost everyone is here, and the star of the show hasn’t even arrived yet. That just won’t do," Chu Tianshan said.
In reality, these people had come for no other reason than to discuss the Chu Family’s situation, and, while they were at it, to see if he was dead or not.
