Chapter 274: Relentless Pestering
Chu Feng's strength was another matter entirely—no one dared question it.
It wasn't just the younger generation; even among the elders, no one could defeat him.
Right now, Chu Feng was the darling of the entire Chu Family.
Moreover, the man who had come today was from the same generation as Chu Feng's uncles.
That was why, even when Chu Feng spoke with such impatience, the man didn't get angry. Instead, his face was all smiles.
With Chu Feng on their side, the Chu Family had no reason to fear the Qing Gang.
In their eyes, it wouldn't be long before Chu Feng reached the Core Formation Realm—or, at the very least, the Peak of Foundation Establishment.
With that kind of power, who would the Chu Family possibly have to fear?
"I'm not interested. Find someone else to be in charge," Chu Feng said, walking straight into the house. He didn't want to get involved in any of this.
Inside, Chu Feng's parents were warming themselves by a fire. They looked at the few people from the Chu Family with some confusion, unsure of the reason for their visit.
The men followed him inside, one of them speaking as they walked. "Young Master, only you can make the decision on this matter. The Ancestor has already decreed it. He said that you've been around Beihai for many years and are well-acquainted with Zhao Liu of the Zhao Family, as well as some major local entrepreneurs. That makes you the best person for this mission."
Chu He had known when he came here that this would not be an easy task.
Everyone knew Chu Feng wasn't particularly fond of the Chu Family, so getting him to do their bidding was next to impossible.
"Can't you find someone yourselves? Why does it have to be me?" Chu Feng said.
"Young Master, the Ancestor has spoken. The matter of selecting an agent in Beihai is to be left to you, with full authority," Chu He said, maintaining his smile.
"Are you sure? I can pick anyone I want?" Chu Feng asked.
"Yes. The Ancestor has given his orders. Whomever the Young Master chooses, we will make them the Chu Family's agent," Chu He said.
It made sense for the Chu Family to entrust this matter to him.
After all, the Chu Family had been out of touch with modern society for years and had absolutely no presence in the Beihai market. They desperately needed an agent. And since Chu Feng was well-established in Beihai with extensive connections, he was the most suitable person for the job.
Of course, the main reason was that the Chu Family was extremely pleased with Chu Feng.
"Hmph. I'm not doing it. Find whoever you want," Chu Feng said, then pulled Su Miaoke over to the fire with him, completely ignoring the men.
"Young Master, the Ancestor said that if you don't agree, we are to stay by your side and not leave you for a moment," Chu He said.
"What? You're going to resort to shameless tactics?" Chu Feng said.
"You can't blame us, Young Master. We are merely carrying out the Ancestor's orders," Chu He said.
"Are you guys really that scared of that old coot?" Chu Feng was exasperated.
Chu Feng knew, though, that the Chu Family Ancestor's words were like an imperial edict. Once spoken, they would be carried out to the letter without question.
"The Ancestor knew you would refuse, which is why he specifically instructed us to do this," Chu He said.
"That old man is really this shameless?" Chu Feng looked surprised.
"Not at all. The Ancestor simply wishes for the Young Master's assistance," Chu He said.
'By this point, Chu Feng was starting to get really impatient.'
"Then do whatever you want. I don't care," Chu Feng said, then pulled Su Miaoke upstairs with him.
But to Chu Feng's surprise, over the next few days, these guys really did stick to him like glue, showing no intention of leaving whatsoever.
Chu Feng was on the verge of losing his temper.
When they reached the parking lot, Chu Feng finally couldn't take it anymore. He asked directly, "What on earth do you guys want?"
Chu He and the others looked at Chu Feng without saying a word, but their expressions said it all.
As soon as Chu Feng agreed, their mission would be complete, and they would stop following him.
"So it absolutely has to be me?" Chu Feng asked.
"Yes. The Ancestor personally gave the order," one of them replied.
"Fine. He wins this round. Just wait until I go back. I'll beat the crap out of him!" Chu Feng said angrily.
"If the Young Master can actually win, I doubt the Ancestor would say anything," Chu He said.
In his opinion, however, it was highly unlikely that Chu Feng could defeat the Ancestor. After all, the Ancestor was incredibly powerful, having reached the Peak of Foundation Establishment.
He was the number one expert in the Chu Family!
But they had no idea what realm Chu Feng's power had reached.
"Alright, enough nonsense. Time and place!" Chu Feng snapped.
He was truly fed up. He knew that if he didn't agree, these guys would just keep following him around like persistent pests, and it was driving him crazy.
So, he might as well just agree and get it over with. He really didn't want these guys tailing him anymore. It was just too annoying.
Besides, he'd been in his hometown long enough. It was probably time to head back to Beihai for a visit anyway.
The countryside might be quiet and a good place to retire...
...but after a while, it gets dull and boring. It was just too monotonous.
