My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building

Chapter 245: Going to the Chu Family

"Actually, you’ll find out the truth if you just ask your father," the person on the other end said.

"So what if I do have an uncle? If he really considered my dad his brother, why didn’t he ever show up when Dad was in trouble?" Chu Feng demanded.

"Back then, your uncle didn’t know what happened to your father. He was seriously injured, and the family went into seclusion, so he was completely unaware. It was only after he found out about you that he insisted I contact you and ask you to return," the person said.

"Then why didn’t he contact me himself?" Chu Feng asked.

"Because he passed away yesterday," the person replied.

"I see. That’s all for now." With that, Chu Feng hung up the phone.

Chu Feng wasn’t going to blindly believe one side of the story. He needed to verify it for himself.

Chu Feng hesitated. ’Should I ask my father about this? After all, he’s never mentioned it to me before.’

In the end, Chu Feng decided to contact his father and made the call.

"Dad, what are you up to?" Chu Feng asked once the call went through.

"I was just about to make dinner. What’s up?" Chu Yuntian asked.

"Oh, it’s nothing. It’s just... someone from the Chu Family just contacted me," Chu Feng said.

"The Chu Family? What did they want with you?" Chu Yuntian’s tone grew agitated.

"They said I have an uncle. Is that true?" Chu Feng asked.

After a moment of silence, Chu Yuntian said, "Yes, you have an uncle. Why? Did something happen?"

At this, a strange sense of unease began to creep into Chu Yuntian’s heart.

Chu Feng could clearly hear his father’s heart begin to race.

"He passed away," Chu Feng said.

"What? How is that possible?" When Chu Yuntian heard the news, he froze, as if he’d been struck by lightning.

"The Chu Family wants me to make a trip back. So, what’s the story with this uncle?" Chu Feng asked.

Chu Yuntian fell silent again, his silence filled with sorrow and grief.

Chu Feng could hear what sounded like his father crying over the phone, followed by a long sigh.

"Your uncle... we were half-brothers, same father. He stayed behind with the Chu Family, while your grandfather and I came to Fuhe Village when I was just a boy. It must have been decades since we last met," Chu Yuntian said, sighing.

"So, should I make the trip?" Chu Feng asked.

"You should go. He’s your uncle, after all. The reason he didn’t help when I was in trouble... he must have been in some kind of bind himself. Otherwise, he definitely would have come looking for me if he’d known. Oh, right—your uncle also has a daughter. She’s your older cousin," Chu Yuntian said.

"Alright, I’ll get Miaoke and we’ll leave tonight. By the way, should I bring Xiao Hao?" Chu Feng asked.

"Yes, bring him. Your mother and I are going too. Now that your uncle is gone, life will be hard for your cousin. We have to go and check on her," Chu Yuntian said.

"Okay, I’ll get in touch with Xiao Hao then." Chu Feng hung up the phone.

Chu Feng then explained the situation to Su Miaoke.

"We’re leaving right now? The whole family is going?" Su Miaoke asked, surprised.

"Yep, all of us. Let me call my brother first," Chu Feng said.

He then called Chu Hao.

"Xiao Hao, I’m sending you an address. Get over here right away. Pack a change of clothes," Chu Feng said.

"Oh, okay, Bro. What’s going on? Did something happen?" Chu Hao asked, completely baffled.

"We’re making a trip back to the Chu Family. Mom and Dad are coming with us," Chu Feng said.

Chu Hao didn’t know anything about this, so Chu Feng didn’t go into detail. It wasn’t something he could explain in a minute or two; he’d have to fill him in later.

"Okay." Though Chu Hao was confused, he didn’t press for details, choosing to trust his brother.

"Honey, do you think the Chu Family is powerful? Are they on the same level as the Zhao Family?" Su Miaoke asked curiously.

"I doubt the Chu Family can compare to the Zhao Family. After all, my family was almost wiped out before," Chu Feng said.

"Okay, I’ll go pack my things," Su Miaoke said, nodding.

By the time the two of them finished packing, Chu Hao had arrived by car.

"Bro, what are you and my sister-in-law doing here?" This was Chu Hao’s first time at this place, and he was curious.

"I’ll explain later. We need to get to the Chu Family right away. I can fill you in on the way," Chu Feng said.

The three of them then took a car to the airport.

Zhao Si had given him a private jet. Even though he’d only used it once, it was available whenever he needed it.

Domestic flight paths were relatively easy to clear.

Soon, the three had reached the airport.

On the plane, Chu Hao listened as Chu Feng explained everything. It was almost too much to believe, completely shattering his perception of the world.

"Whoa, Bro... is all of this... really true? You mean all that stuff in TV shows and novels is real?" Chu Hao said, astonished.

"Duh, of course it’s true," Chu Feng said.

"This is incredible. I always thought this stuff only happened in TV shows," Chu Hao said.

"The shows exaggerate a little," Chu Feng said.

"So, Bro, can you fly? Do you know Qinggong?" Chu Hao asked.

"I’ve never tried, but I can probably jump pretty high," Chu Feng said.

"So, Bro... are you, like, super strong?" Chu Hao asked.

"I’m alright. Just your average, run-of-the-mill, third-strongest-in-the-world," Chu Feng said with a grin.

"For real?!" Chu Hao’s eyes widened in excitement.

"Of course not, how could I be that strong? Your sister-in-law is the impressive one. She’s only been doing her Cultivation for a little while, but most people are no match for her. When we get back from the Chu Family, you’re going to start your Cultivation too," Chu Feng said.

"Whoa, Sis, are you really that strong now?" Chu Hao asked in amazement.

"I’m not as amazing as your brother makes it sound. I’ve only just started," Su Miaoke said with a smile.

"If we weren’t on a plane, I’d totally make you show me how strong you are," Chu Hao said, full of wonder.

Two hours later, the plane arrived at Zhongnan City Airport.

Chu Feng’s father was already waiting for them in a car.

He had already tasked Secretary Wang with arranging a car to pick up his parents and have them wait at the airport.

As soon as their plane landed, they all boarded the car and set off for the Xixiang Chu Family’s home.

The drive from Zhongnan City would take another six or seven hours.

But Secretary Wang had arranged everything perfectly. He’d sent a luxury van, so the whole family could travel together without feeling cramped. The ride was exceptionally comfortable.

The next day, just as dawn was breaking, Chu Feng and his family arrived at their destination.
