Chapter 180: Huge Harvest
When he saw the wisp of flame, Chu Feng froze for a moment before his eyes lit up with delight.
"This... This looks like the legendary Earth Vein Fire!" Chu Feng was overjoyed.
The thought made Chu Feng ecstatic.
"I searched everywhere for this with no luck, and now I’ve found it without even trying!" Chu Feng exclaimed.
He had come on this trip specifically to find the Earth Vein Fire. He had already given up hope, but to his surprise, after digging up Fire-attribute Spirit Stones, he had also managed to find the Earth Vein Fire.
"Fire Spirit Stones usually exist alongside Earth Vein Fire. They absorb the essence of the Earth Vein Fire and take many years to form," Chu Feng murmured to himself.
Watching the flames leap and dance, Chu Feng was both delighted and thrilled.
He finally had a place for his Alchemy.
"This is perfect. From now on, I can perform my Alchemy here," Chu Feng said excitedly.
He then climbed out of the opening, a Spirit Stone in hand. He couldn’t take all of it with him right now; there was too much. He’d have to bring something to carry it all next time.
He quickly camouflaged the area, concealing the opening to prevent it from being discovered. Even though it was highly unlikely anyone would come here, it was better to be safe.
Once outside, Chu Feng looked around for something to carry the Fire Spirit Stone in.
However, he couldn’t find anything.
Finally, by the foot of the stone slab that served as a bed, he found two books. They were so covered in dust that Chu Feng would have missed them if he hadn’t looked closely.
When Chu Feng picked up the books, he realized they weren’t made of paper but some kind of special leather that hadn’t decayed even after several hundred years.
Chu Feng didn’t have time to examine them now, though; he was too excited.
He bowed three times to Hentian’s remains. Without Hentian’s Heaven-Slaying Sword, it would have been impossible for him to find these Fire Spirit Stones and the Earth Vein Fire today.
’A man has to know how to repay his debts of gratitude.’
Then, Chu Feng wrapped Hentian’s remains in his own clothes and carried them outside, intending to give them a proper burial.
Besides, he would be coming here often for Alchemy in the future, and having a skeleton lying around would be rather inconvenient.
After leaving the cave, Chu Feng realized it was already dark. He pulled out his phone and was surprised to see it was already past midnight.
’I can’t believe I was in there for so long.’ Chu Feng had been so focused on digging and his Cultivation that he hadn’t noticed how quickly time had flown.
He then found a suitable spot to bury Hentian’s remains and erected a simple gravestone.
"Rest in peace, Senior. This is a good spot with excellent feng shui," Chu Feng said.
He then wrapped the two books and the fist-sized Fire Spirit Stone in his shirt and started heading back.
It was late at night, and the air was filled with the calls of birds and the cries of beasts. An ordinary person abandoned here at this hour would likely be scared to tears.
The surrounding sounds were utterly unnerving. Although the moonlight allowed one to vaguely make out shapes, it did little to ease the tension.
But for Chu Feng, it was nothing to be concerned about.
After laying Hentian to rest, Chu Feng looked at the Heaven-Slaying Sword in his hand and gently stroked the blade.
"You’ll be with me from now on," Chu Feng whispered. "I won’t let your legacy be forgotten. In the future, every Martial Cultivator in the world will know the name of Heaven-Slaying!"
As Chu Feng spoke these words, he thought he heard a faint hum resonating from within the sword.
This time, he heard it for real. A look of delight appeared in his eyes.
’As expected. An item this old is bound to have a spirit, especially after slumbering for centuries in a cave so rich with Spiritual Qi. It’s become sentient.’
Chu Feng then began to make his way through the forest alone. It was late, and the woods were teeming with wild beasts. It was only natural, given this was a remote mountain forest that hadn’t seen a human in hundreds of years.
However, the moment Chu Feng released his aura, most of the beasts backed away, not daring to approach him.
Chu Feng moved like a swift cheetah, darting through the trees with incredible speed.
Even so, it still took him an hour to get back to the village.
’It’s really deep in the mountains,’ Chu Feng lamented.
’If I want to bring medicinal herbs in for Alchemy later, I’ll have to clear a path.’
When Chu Feng got home, the door was still unlocked, as everyone knew he hadn’t returned yet.
He carefully tiptoed upstairs and slipped into Su Miaoke’s room.
"Hubby? Where have you been? And why are you shirtless? Did you get caught cheating on me or something?" Su Miaoke, who was still awake and playing on her phone in bed, asked, her face a mask of annoyance.
Chu Feng had been gone for so long, and he hadn’t answered any of her calls.
"Huh? No, of course not. I was just using my shirt to carry something," Chu Feng said, carefully closing the door behind him.
"I called you so many times. Why didn’t you pick up?" Su Miaoke demanded.
"I was deep in the mountains. There was no signal," Chu Feng explained.
That was exactly why Su Miaoke had been so worried. She didn’t dare tell their parents, so she had to bear the anxiety all by herself.
"You jerk! If you ever scare me like that again, you’re dead meat!" Su Miaoke shot up, pounded her fists on Chu Feng’s chest, and then bit down hard on his arm.
"BLEH! BLEH! BLEH!" Suddenly, Su Miaoke started spitting.
"You stink! And you’re covered in dirt. Were you mining or something?" Su Miaoke asked, wrinkling her nose in disgust.
"Stop spitting and come look at this." Chu Feng placed the bundled-up shirt on the floor and unfolded it.
Su Miaoke was curious at first, but when she saw the fist-sized Spirit Stone, her eyes lit up.
"What is this thing? It’s so hot! Is there a fire inside it?" Su Miaoke asked in astonishment.
She had no idea what it was, but she was incredibly curious.
"And where did you get that sword? Don’t tell me you went and robbed a grave?" Su Miaoke asked, her expression a mixture of disbelief and accusation.
"This is what I found today," Chu Feng said. "I discovered the seclusion spot of a Cultivator from several hundred years ago. The sword was left behind by that senior."
"He left all this? Then what are these two books? Martial Arts Manuals?" Su Miaoke asked curiously.
"Yeah. One is a Sword Skill, and the other is an Inner Cultivation Scripture, something like a Heart Sutra," Chu Feng explained.
"So what’s the stone?" Su Miaoke asked, still curious.
"This stone is called a Fire Spirit Stone. It contains a dense concentration of Spiritual Power, which will be a massive help for our Cultivation and for breaking through to new realms!" Chu Feng said.
Chu Feng’s face was wreathed in smiles. The rewards from this trip were enormous.
