Chapter 124: Scolding You
"You can see for yourself. Do you even need to ask?" Chu Feng said.
"Th-this... How did we end up spending the night in a graveyard? I remember we were definitely sleeping in someone’s house last night." Su Miaoke’s face went pale, her heart filled with terror.
Waking up to find yourself in a graveyard... What a feeling, what an experience.
She immediately broke out in a cold sweat. There was nothing but lingering fear.
"This *is* the villa from yesterday. They were kind enough to host us, which was pretty nice of them," Chu Feng said with a smile. In truth, he had known all along but hadn’t told Su Miaoke, worried it would scare her.
Terrified, Su Miaoke quickly threw her arms around Chu Feng. Her heart was still pounding in her chest. She was so scared.
"Alright, why don’t you go ahead and call someone to fix the car," Chu Feng said after comforting Su Miaoke.
"Okay, but let’s get away from here first. This place is creepy," Su Miaoke said, her face a mask of fear.
"What’s wrong? You were sleeping like a log last night. Now you wake up and you’re scared?" Chu Feng teased.
"How dare you! You knew all along and didn’t tell me!" Su Miaoke said, glaring at him.
"If I had told you, would you have dared to stay? Would you have been able to sleep so soundly?" Chu Feng replied.
Su Miaoke was left speechless.
As they were leaving, Chu Feng cupped his fists toward the graves and said respectfully, "Thank you for your hospitality last night. I hope you will all accumulate good karma and do good deeds from now on. Don’t do anything wicked, or you will surely face divine retribution."
As Chu Feng spoke, Su Miaoke was already trembling from head to toe. The hairs on her arms stood on end, and a persistent case of goosebumps covered her skin.
Finally, she grabbed Chu Feng and dragged him away from the graveyard. She didn’t want to spend another second there.
Chu Feng held Su Miaoke’s hand and said with a faint smile, "You don’t have to be so scared. Just like there are good people and bad people, it’s the same for them. The ones last night were benevolent; they wouldn’t have harmed us."
"Okay, let’s just hurry up and go. I want to go home," Su Miaoke urged. She wished she could sprout a pair of wings and fly straight back.
When they finally reached the car, Su Miaoke got inside and let out a sigh of relief.
After waiting for about an hour and a half, the mechanic arrived. After some simple repairs, the car started up just fine.
After that, they didn’t run into any more strange incidents. The rest of the trip was smooth sailing.
Two hours later, they were back home. The moment she walked in, Su Miaoke collapsed onto the bed.
Thinking back on what happened, her heart was still filled with lingering dread.
"Chu Feng, thinking about yesterday... it all feels so bizarre. How did we run into so many strange things one after another?" Su Miaoke asked.
"Sigh, it’s hard to say with these things. Most people go their whole lives without encountering anything like that. For us to run into so much in one night... maybe there’s just something wrong with that area," Chu Feng said.
In reality, Chu Feng was just saying that to comfort Su Miaoke.
Because he now possessed the God of Wealth’s legacy—which was equivalent to an Immortal Dao Inheritance—encountering such things was a regular occurrence for him.
"I’m never going to a remote place like that again, not even if you paid me. It’s terrifying," Su Miaoke said, still visibly shaken.
"Alright, it’s over, so try not to think about it. Are you going to work this afternoon? I’m going to make lunch," Chu Feng asked.
"I’m not going in. There’s nothing urgent at the company anyway. Go make me a few nice dishes to soothe my wounded soul," Su Miaoke said.
"Alright, alright. This trip was well worth it. This thing will be a great help to us," Chu Feng said with a smile, patting the box that held the Winter Lotus.
With that, he went to make lunch for Su Miaoke.
An hour later, Chu Feng brought the dishes out to the living room.
It was a sumptuous spread of six dishes and a soup.
"Wow, honey, your cooking is the best!" Su Miaoke’s eyes lit up when she saw the food, and she was thrilled.
After feasting to their hearts’ content, both Chu Feng and Su Miaoke began their Cultivation.
「For the next half-month or so」
Everything was peaceful. Chu Feng spent his time either cultivating or going to work.
Su Miaoke, when not at work, was busy procuring medicinal herbs from all over.
The Su Group’s large-scale procurement of medicinal herbs sparked a lot of curiosity. Outsiders began to speculate that the Su Group was planning to enter the pharmaceutical industry.
"Honey, how’s the herb procurement coming along?" Chu Feng asked. Su Miaoke was sitting on the sofa, looking at her phone.
"The most common ones are all taken care of. It’s the rarer, aged herbs that are hard to find. I managed to get my hands on a nearly three-hundred-year-old ginseng root, but it cost almost ten million. For some of the others, you can’t even find a seller, no matter the price," Su Miaoke said.
"That’s much better than I expected. Where are all the herbs you bought? I’ll head over there and stay for a few days. I can start refining some pills for Cultivation," Chu Feng said.
"Chu Feng, what’s that supposed to mean? It feels like every few days you’re trying to get away from me for a while. Are you cheating on me with some other woman?" Su Miaoke demanded, her brow suddenly furrowing.
"Why don’t you trust me? If you’re that worried, then just come stay with me. You can keep an eye on me all day, every day," Chu Feng said with a sigh.
"Hmph, you think I needed you to ask? I was going to follow you anyway. I’m curious to see just what you plan on doing with all those herbs," Su Miaoke said haughtily.
In truth, she wanted to go because the warehouse was in a remote location. It was spacious and secluded, making it a much better place for Cultivation than the park behind their villa.
"Fine, we’ll go after we eat. By the way, have you been busy today? It looks like you haven’t put your phone down once. What’s so important? It’s not often I see you this glued to your screen," Chu Feng asked.
"Not really. I’m just reading some online comments about the company’s recent herb acquisitions. People are speculating about our new business direction," Su Miaoke said.
"Oh, that stuff? That’s perfectly normal. The Su Group is a big company, after all. The slightest move is bound to attract a lot of attention," Chu Feng said.
"By the way, a lot of people have been talking about my husband—you, that is. They’re saying you’re a good-for-nothing freeloader," Su Miaoke said, looking at Chu Feng with a mischievous smile.
When Chu Feng heard this, his expression immediately darkened.
"But don’t worry, I chewed them all out. No one is allowed to call my husband a freeloader!" Su Miaoke said smugly.
