Chapter 121: Soul Body
"Yes. These days, real estate developers and capitalists will stop at nothing for a bit of profit. We’re just doing what we must to protect ourselves," Master Wu said with a sigh.
Chu Feng understood this feeling all too well.
Su Miaoke also sighed. "It’s all concrete jungles now. Many people go their whole lives without ever really seeing nature."
The three of them chatted at length. About two hours later, the old hen soup was ready, and the goose was cooked as well.
"Come, Boss Chu, Boss Su, try some of this old hen soup. See how it compares to what you get outside," Master Wu said with a smile as he ladled soup for them.
Chu Feng and Su Miaoke picked up their bowls and slowly took a sip.
Instantly, they both showed looks of surprise.
"This chicken soup is incredible!" Chu Feng was stunned. He hadn’t expected the soup here to taste even better than the one made at his own home; it was exceptionally flavorful.
Su Miaoke was just as astonished. She had eaten her fair share of delicacies, but this was the first time she had ever tasted chicken soup this delicious.
"It’s delicious!" Su Miaoke said.
"It is, isn’t it? Anyone who’s tried our chicken soup here has said the same thing. Not a single person has disliked it," Master Wu said with a smile.
"Why is that? This is the first time I’ve ever had chicken soup this flavorful," Chu Feng asked, his curiosity piqued.
"It’s because our chickens are raised in the mountains. They feed on the local insects and plants, and even some common medicinal herbs are part of their diet. That’s why all our poultry is so delicious. It’s not just the chicken soup; the ducks and geese are just as tasty. Go on, try some."
Master Wu explained slowly.
Hearing his explanation, Chu Feng and Su Miaoke eagerly picked up a piece of goose meat and began to eat.
After savoring it, Chu Feng’s and Su Miaoke’s eyes lit up again.
"Delicious!" They both loved it.
A large pot of chicken soup and a huge goose weighing over ten pounds were completely devoured by Chu Feng and Su Miaoke. Master Wu only ate a little.
By the time the two had eaten and drunk their fill, it was already afternoon. Since it was an overcast, rainy day, the sky was already beginning to darken.
"Master Wu, we should get going. If you ever come to Beihai, contact me, and I’ll make all the arrangements," Chu Feng said to Master Wu.
"Of course, of course. Don’t you worry, Boss Chu. If I go to Beihai, I’ll be sure to take you up on that offer," Master Wu said with a laugh.
Master Wu then walked the two of them to the village entrance.
Chu Feng was still carrying Su Miaoke on his back as he walked out of the village step by step.
Otherwise, if they walked at a normal pace, they wouldn’t reach their car before nightfall.
Mist swirled continuously through the surrounding mountain forests, and a thick fog began to roll in.
"Chu Feng, are you hearing strange noises?" Su Miaoke suddenly asked as they reached their car.
"Yeah, it is a little strange," Chu Feng said.
"Honey, look! Those little brats are messing with our car! They’re scratching the paint," Su Miaoke said, her expression changing instantly as she saw children playing around her car in the distance.
’A scratch on this car’s paint job won’t be cheap to fix, but more importantly, it’s a huge waste of time.’
"Don’t be silly. The nearest village is almost two kilometers away. Do you really think normal kids would run this far out?" Chu Feng said.
When she heard Chu Feng’s words, Su Miaoke instantly felt goosebumps erupt across her skin.
"Ah! Th-then... are they ghosts?" Hearing Chu Feng’s words, Su Miaoke’s pretty face turned deathly pale, and she began to tremble all over.
"It’s okay. I’m here. They’re just some unclean things," Chu Feng said with a confident smile.
He possessed the legacy of the God of Wealth. While his powers weren’t specifically for vanquishing demons and catching ghosts, dealing with a few spirits was still a piece of cake.
Besides, this wasn’t the first time Chu Feng had encountered something like this, so he wasn’t scared at all. The incident at the Su Group had been far more terrifying than this.
"Hey kids, it’s getting dark. Your moms are calling you home for dinner," Chu Feng said.
Su Miaoke clung tightly to Chu Feng, trembling all over. She was so scared she didn’t dare let go.
"Hey, mister, do you want to come play with us?" the children called out, waving at Chu Feng while letting out bone-chilling laughs.
Combined with the swirling fog and the darkening sky, most people would have probably fainted from fright if they encountered this scene.
"Go on home. I don’t have time to play with you," Chu Feng said, waving his hand dismissively.
He noticed a small river not far away, about ten meters wide. Certain sections looked to be several meters deep.
’These kids are most likely Water Ghosts who drowned here.’
The reason Chu Feng spoke to them so peacefully was because he had already checked them. There wasn’t the slightest bit of Sin Value above their heads, which meant they had never done anything evil. Therefore, Chu Feng had no intention of harming them.
"Honey, please make them go away. I’m scared," Su Miaoke pleaded, clutching Chu Feng even tighter, her face growing paler.
"Alright, don’t be scared," Chu Feng said, nodding.
"If you don’t leave now, I’m going to get mean," Chu Feng said, putting on a fierce expression.
"You’ll get mean with us? You think you can be meaner than us?" one of the slightly older children said, its face suddenly turning deathly pale as it spoke with a sinister tone.
"Just go. I have to leave now," Chu Feng said.
’They’re just a few Soul Bodies. If I really wanted to, I could take care of them in a couple of moves. I just don’t want to get entangled in unnecessary karma.’
"Hmph, you think you can just leave after threatening us? Dream on! Get down here with us!" the children suddenly snarled, their expressions vicious and twisted. They started walking toward Chu Feng, intending to drag him into the water.
Seeing this, Chu Feng’s anger flared. They wouldn’t listen, no matter if he was nice or harsh.
’What do these things think they’re doing? Do they have a death wish?’
With that thought, he began silently chanting a Mantra, intending to drive them away directly.
Suddenly, waves of spiritual light flared from Chu Feng’s body, making him look like an Immortal who had descended to the mortal realm.
Chu Feng thrust his palm directly toward the nearby river.
BOOM!
In that instant, a column of water several meters high erupted from the river’s surface, and a dark silhouette shot out from within.
When Su Miaoke and Chu Feng got a clear look at the silhouette, they were both startled. The figure was dressed in white, with long, disheveled hair that completely obscured its face.
Chu Feng focused his gaze and saw that it was an adult man. A bright glow of sin hovered above his head, with a Sin Value of over one thousand.
’It goes without saying. This thing has clearly murdered people.’
Since that was the case, Chu Feng wasted no more words. He formed a hand seal for a Technique with his right hand and began silently chanting a complex, esoteric Spell.
